It is back to basics for Fantasy Premier League managers in Gameweek 28 as we face the first round without Doubles since Gameweek 23.

However, it must be said that the captaincy conversation has been thrown wide open by this week’s fixtures.

Manchester City face a Fulham defence that has improved in recent months, Liverpool are out of form, Manchester United face a West Ham side gunning for Europe while Spurs prepare for a north London derby.

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Gameweek 28 captaincy decision. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Harry Kane (£11.3m, 26.5% of votes) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m, 24.2%) are the leaders in this week’s poll, combining for over 50.0% of our users’ votes.

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m, 8.5%) has been voted third this week, although with the Belgian international now having started in each of City’s previous five league games, this number could drop by Saturday morning due to rotation fears.

Ilkay Gungodan (£6.2m, 4.9%) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.7m, 4.2%) close out the top five.

    Tough decisions this week. Planning on just using 1 ft and having 2 ft's for next week.
    1. Areola -> Forster (Other 4.0m) to save funds.
    2. Burn -> Veltman (Better underlyings)
    3. Something else. Was thinking Cancelo out but surely need to wait now.

      Don't waste one of sideways Brighton move

      I hope I'm wrong but I suspect they are going to defy XG in the wrong ways for a couple more weeks. Are you going to be holding Cancelo through 29? If not get shot of him now imo - he and Stones are a poor combo to be sitting on with Leeds and Brighton cover going forward.

      Think theres a solid argument to ignore 29 and just decide which defender will score most between 28 and 31 or so. Choices for me are

      a Cresswell - defy fixtures?
      b Rudiger - query if nailed now Thiago back on the way
      c Azpi - due a rest soon
      d Everton - best fixtures but Everton

      Think about your stress levels. Striker scores, you can sit back and relax. Watching Marti scrape another clean sheet out of the bag is 90 mins of high blood pressure even when he’s not captain. Otherwise, could be a good choice

      Depends who else you have, but the stand outs for me are Kane/Bale/Son and Brighton defenders - Dunk if you can afford and Veltman/Burn for value. If you fancy a gamble Trossard or Gross could be interesting.

    That gives me 7 players for next week, looking to bring 2 of Auba/Reguilon/Bamford/Trossard/Antonio/Adorabayio as well to give me 9 for a -4.

    Is it worth bringing in any of those players early for a -4 now, and bringing in 2 more next week to give 10 starters? I personally think no - the players in my team this week all have a good opportunity to score points so I don’t think it’s really worth chasing the points in poor fixtures next week.

    Real captaincy dilemma for the first time this season:

    A) Kane (possibly injured?)
    B) Salah (played 90 minutes midweek, could be rested?)
    C) Gundogan (possibly rotated?)
    D) Son (will probably play full 90 minutes as he was substituted quite early on yesterday)

    Hey legends, needed your advice:

    Had transferred Bruno out for Son in the last GW (hoping City will be City, but we all know how that turned out). Since I want to not use my FH for GW29, reversing this transfer makes scant sense to me. However, can also downgrade KdB to Bruno for this GW. Thoughts on this?

    TL;DR - Scared to go without Bruno for this GW but there are good reasons to do so. Thoughts?
