Fantasy Football Scout will join the wider football world in uniting for a social media boycott this weekend.

In response to the ongoing and sustained discriminatory abuse aimed at players and other figures in the football world, none of our official accounts will post any content on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between 15:00 BST on Friday, April 30 until 23:59 BST on Monday, May 3.

Social media can play a pivotal part in adding value and reach to our coverage, enabling us to engage with Fantasy managers all over the globe.

However, this weekend’s boycott serves to highlight that social media companies must work harder to prevent the spread of online hatred while educating everyone in the ongoing fight against discrimination.

The FA, Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out, Women in Football and the FSA are some of the biggest names involved in this weekend’s boycott with the number of participating organisations growing by the day.

All of us involved are aware this event alone will not put an immediate stop to online abuse. The aim is to show social media companies that the football world is willing and able to take decisive steps to bring about a positive change to the sport we all love.

As there will be no content on our official social media channels this weekend, we will include live coverage of Gameweek 34’s matches on our website instead, including team news, goal alerts, notifications of assists and other key Fantasy match events.

We tested a live blog feature during Monday night’s meeting between Leicester and Crystal Palace which we hope to use for the next round of fixtures. We look forward to sharing this weekend’s football with you via this medium.

Morning all. Best Everton defender to ship Coady to for the DGW bar Digne (too ££):

    1. Godfrey
    2. Holgate (YC magnet)
    3. Coleman (rotation?)
    4. Keane (injury?)

    Currently looking at Godfrey...

As mentioned in the headline article, the specific lead platforms of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is the focus of the boycott not all social media. FFS state clearly, that they wil not be using those 3 platforms in solidarity with the campaign plan. Your contributions over the weekend via the FFS website therefore remain unfettered.

What moves would you make here with 2FT and 2.3m itb. Plan to FH36

    Mendy
Taa Shaw Rudi -- Holding Veltman
    Salah Bruno Jota Greenwood Lingard
    Kane Nacho -- Davis

    A: Jota >> Bale (gw34) >> Zaha(dgw35)

Should be Internet Blackout instead of Social Media. I mean its not that tough to avoid posting or using social media. Internet on the other hand is different gravy.

You can’t punish every aspect of the internet just because of Social Media abuse by the minority.

People like myself use the Internet to run a business.
People use the internet to shop, to bank.

      1. Holmes

Abuse is not just restricted to Social Media though plus 3-4 days blackout are hardly going to make any difference for those "minority"

I agree. This action won’t stop them though. It will only feed them as they gain more attention.
The action should come from the social media sites themselves in giving these people appropriate bans for the level of abuse. Lifetime if needed.
Extreme abuse should be reported to the authorities and dealt with from there. Whether it’s fines, community service.

I think Holmes meant internet blackout for all football related organisations. So people would be able to go about their tasks like their own work or banking or shopping etc. but all club websites would be down for the weekend, not just their social media profiles.

It's a waste of time to only boycott Facebook/Twitter etc. for a few days as they know you'll be back. In the words of Yoda "Do or Do Not".

Social media is a poison that feeds extremist politics and other vices and will continue to do so until people abandon it. I'd be happier if FFS was just a WWW site - I left Facebook years ago and have missed precisely nothing as a result.

Boycotting social media for just 2-3 days as a means of demonstration is going to achieve nothing, if you actually want something good to come out of it. It's like the guy who threatens his abusive gf that he's going to leave her, only to come back the same evening for her to start pissing on him soon enough again.

Benching nightmare plus two goalkeepers with fixtures that don't scream clean sheet. If I go all in on a 0-0 at Old Trafford I'd set up like this:

    Martinez
    TAA Digne Castagne Azpi
    Maddison Lingard Son
    Watkins Iheanacho Kane (C)
