Fantasy Football Scout contributors Az, Sam, Neale and Tom pick out what, in their opinion, are the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 3.

Our weekly Scout Squad feature always takes the form of a ‘Free Hit’-type selection, with the focus exclusively on the upcoming Gameweek.

All of our panelists have put forward an 18-man long-list of Fantasy assets and will explain their notable inclusions and omissions below.

The players listed will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for the weekly Scout Picks selection ahead of the deadline at 11:00 BST on Saturday.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one goalkeeper costing £5.0m or less
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one midfielder listed at £6.5m or below
  • At least one forward priced at £7.0m or lower
  • No more than three players from the same club

And yes, he was a serious consideration for me - there was just more competition up top than there was in midfield this week, imo. I also fancied City's left flank more up against whichever of Arsenal's C-listers is moonlighting as a right-back this time.

As a concept it’s pretty ridiculous but I must admit I agree with you - I’m quite intreguied and really hoping for a really up and down Saturday just to enjoy their emotional roller coaster as it plays out LOL. The guys will do well to avoid any leaks all day. Fair play. I hope they’re half cut watching it too which should make it quite amusing.

I don't think it's crazy, far more difficult if you play FPL than if you didn't but I used to try block out all football results on a Saturday when I knew I couldn't catch any of it live, will need to do this some time again myself!

This, Atlanta and Villarreal are obviously decent but with what OLE has spent there should be no option other than going through yet everyone is very doubtful, because he's not an elite manager

Tsimikas> omobamidele if he drops to 3.9. Personally I think Jimenez has better fixtures until gw14 so also can be a long term.

United fans - with McT injured, do you think this will push the board to sign a CDM now?

We should really splash the money on Bissouma

Will it not also pull Pogba back into a more central and defensive role rather than pushed left?

Jose tried pogba more defensively where he is not good. He needs some freedom.

Even if he is fit we should be getting a cdm. We cannot win the league with mcfred. The business so far is good but still short of a couple f players. An out and out striker and a cdm needs to be there.

Bissouma isn’t a CDM. What United need is an Ndidi type player who just protects the back 4 and wins the ball back playing simple passes to the more creative players

I don’t understand the logic in signing him. DVB is an 8. United don’t play with an 8. He can’t play as part of a 2 in midfield. Even if Bruno is out injured Pogba can play the 10. Don’t see much hope for him

What to do. 2FT 0.5 ITB

    Sanchez
    TAA, Shaw, Ayling
    Salah, Fernandes, Greenwood, Raphina
    Toney, Ings, Antonio
    Foster | Veltman, Tsimikas, Brownhill

    A) Veltman/ Tsimikas -> 4.0/4.5 defender (which one?) roll the other transfer
    B) Toney & Brownhill -> Benrahma & 4.5 forward - leaves me with absolutely no bench this week

Plan is to do Ings -> DCL next week

Tsimikas to Duffy. Means your sure to have a 4th defender for GW3. Sell the other before GW4, should be clearer if either is gonna be nailed on.

I'm keeping Tsimi. CL kicks in very soon and Liverpool have a very tough group. I can see Tsimi getting easier PL games, such as Palace in GW5.

Not "needed", but Klopp didn't know he had a reliable deputy. He does now. I've calculated that there are no games when I'd start Livramento over other players anyway, so I'm fine with parking Tsimi on my bench. Unlike the template, I have 3 solid defenders for every GW, and Duffy.

Raph is still gw4 risk so wouldn't be getting him now. Tsimikas has to go soon, and Amartey out will be also forced perhaps week later. So getting Livramanto now and upgrading Amartey later is worth 0.1 tv.

I don’t mind holding Amartey after next week as he won’t lose me money (he has the 0.1 buffer and may even rise). So I’d rather wait for Coady than commit to livramento
