With Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m) set for a spell on the sidelines and a ban ruling Michail Antonio (£7.9m) out of Gameweek 5, many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are unexpectedly in the market for a new forward.

At the time of writing, the pair are the two most-sold forwards in FPL, but should we be selling them, and if so, who are the best replacements?

In this, our latest Fantasy Football Scout Members article, we’ll attempt to answer those questions.

      Marcal, great fixture this week.

    Sanchez | Steele
    TAA | Shaw* | Duffy | Livramento | Williams
    Salah | Raphinha | Sarr* | Gray | Allan
    Cr7 | Lukaku | Jimenez*

WC last week, 87 points. 0.0 ITB.

I have the trade plans of,
    GW7: Shaw(Everton) to Rudiger(Southampton)
    GW8: Sarr(Liverpool) & Jimenez(Aston Villa) to Mount(Brentford) & A Armstrong(Leeds)

My indecision currently is one of fortune, this GW I have 1FT, next GW I will have 2FTs should of course I choose to do nothing.
I.e, to complete my proposed transfers and not take a hit I need 2FTs for GW7, essentially I have 1 transfer to use either this week/next.

The options I have considered are as follows,
    - Sanchez to Ramsdale to avoid double Brighton defence but also a greater differential pick (this week)
    - Target a 0.1 downgrade to allow for Shaw to be traded to Reece James instead of Rudiger (next week)

    Thoughts?

I would keep Sanchez. Duffy's place may be under threat soon anyway. Not keen on the ARS d anyway.

I would prioritise James - he offers a lot in attack too.

Yes, although both Webster and Lamptey are injured. Duffy's form arguably has him cemented in their best XI.
Arsenal defence is a tricky one. Seeing as they have "strengthened" their defence this season, a defence that had the 3rd best defensive record last season under the same manager.

James, yes has the higher scoring potential. The worry is rotation, Rudiger I could see playing more games in that stretch.

I think if you are going to pick an ARS player, then White 4.4 would be my choice. He was the stand out player on Saturday.
          Yes, go with James.

Yeh, my interest in Arsenal is more strictly the goalkeeper position so it would be unlikely that I'd consider White.
Will have to find 0.1 next week then for James.

he should become a regular in their side. he is the most capable no.6, which they have been seriously lacking.
as for your question not sure, I might be able to answer some.

Cheers, anything would be appreciated. Mainly, is he likely to play further forward than Gilmour, i.e. be a more viable fpl option?

          No, definitely not.
yes, Gilmour has had to play at the base of midfield but this has not been to his strengths.
Normann will play the 6, Gilmour the 8. It is also still undecided whether Farke sticks to the 433, which he has adopted this season or reverts back to his trusted 4231.

So Normann should push Gilmour further up the park? Are both likely to start regularly or does it depend on the formation?

            1. Gabbiadini
              • 9 Years
              4 years, 10 months ago

              Yes, Normann will sit deepest.
It would most likely depend on formation as they also brought in Lees-Melou this season from Nice on top of trusted options, McLean and Rupp.
The bonus with Normann is none of the other 4 midfielders are 6s, rather 8s.
Skipp, who was their 6 last season played every Championship game except for one.
My guess would be that the rotation will come between the 8s, whether that's one of them in a 4231 or two in a 433.

So that makes Gilmour's gametime insecure, and Normann reliable for 2-3 points. Thanks for that - I'll look elsewhere. I might plump for McArthur even though It could mean eventually tripling up with Palace if I add Gallagher and later Edouard to my team.

I'd expect Gilmour to be the next name on the teamsheet. Chelsea hasn't sent him there not to play.
The only thing about McArthur is there are options who didn't start against Spurs. Hughes, Milivojevic, Schlupp & Riedewald.

You're right. I think I've worked out a fixture hokey-cokey involving Sissoko, Brownhill and Bissouma. I'll start with Sissoko and see how it goes. Thanks again.

I actually think this is tricky one.

Would probably go A, if i wasnt manu fan... Ronaldo i love, so ronaldo+raphinha, too expensive? Also like lukaku..

On WC would try to fit in all Lukaku, Ronaldo, Raphinha. Though you likely have Salah and thats not an easy fit 🙂

    Thoughts on this

    Sanchez
    TAA Reece Semedo **** Livra
    Salah Jota Raphinha **** 4.5
    Ron Bamford Jimenez

    Best option

    A Cancelo/Chilwell (433)
    B Sarr (343)

Yes i mean the fixtures do get tough when he returns and also with Europa I dont think i can make a case here for Antonio.

Expect Jimenez to do well. Even if he nicks in a goal i see him doing well in the bonus courtesy of the creative ability that he has.

Not sure I agree with that. Could be very possible Moyes rests Antonio in EL. Also lee, BRE, eve, TOT, avl is a pretty good run of fixtures for someone like Antonio.

    Sanchez
    TAA James Semedo Marcal
    Salah Jota Raphinha Gray
    Ronaldo Bamford

    (4.0 Antonio* Livramento Sissoko)

Plan is to sell Jota, Ronaldo & a Wolves def for Chelsea/City mid, Lukaku & Chelsea/City def by GW8.

Thanks mate. There's lots of 4.5 - 4.6 mids to choose from - Sissoko, Gilmour, Brownhill, McArthur, Allan, Bissouma.

Yes but you want a player that can offer you something. I see Sissoko is second in expected goal involvement to Moder BHA.

Yeah Gallagher does look like the better option but next 4 fixtures look a bit tough. I'm also not confident about Gray keeping this up but it's just the fixtures.
Have played around with 4 at the back by sacrificing Gray but the formation is just not fitting well.

Really depends on whether Ole looks to adopt the Fred & McTominay (when he is fit) partnership and use Pogba LW.
Would leave Greenwood vs Sancho RW.

Yeah that's a fair point. Sancho has to get his minutes somewhere. He needs to get up to speed and I could see some of this coming in cup ties or vs weaker sides maybe. At present i don't think Greenwood's place is under immediate threat considering his form vs Sancho's form, but Sancho hasn't really got his feet under him yet...but that's probably coming.

    A, B, C or D?

    A) Antonio to Saint max and Benrahma to Jota (4-3-3)
    B) Antonio to a 4.5 St and Mendy to Jota (4-4-2)

He's not looked really in the mood so far this season, they scored 3 goals the other night and he wasn't involved in any and nearly every time I see him I feel like he's a red card waiting to happen.

      1. Nightrain_
        • 9 Years

yup, the red card thing is one thing I'm afraid cause he's really capable of it, but good thing from last season, I see Richarlison performed slightly better when he's away and they're up against out-of-form Aston Villa so he might get a goal and next they're up against whipping-boy Norwich at home so 2 potential goals for him before moving back to DCL in GW7 or Jimenez when he's firing

If you have the FT free and no other issues it definitely might be worth giving it a go, especially as he has to be on penalties now DCL is out

Agree with Thescaff, if you feel Jiminez is a better option then go for him. Honestly I have Raphinha and viewed him as a long-term pick and am nearly thinking of dropping him, Leeds really haven't looked good going forward so far, yes they've had 2 tough fixtures but they didn't look great against Burnley who've been pretty poor, they needed a defensive mistake and then also a strike from range to score their goals against Everton and their only goal against ManUtd was a screamer from distance. They have an excellent run against poorer teams now but I need to see a big improvement in their attacking play.

    A. Antonio + Bruno > Lukaku + one of Jota/Raph/Gallagher -4 (Jota best but leaves only 0.4 itb, and need convincing for Raph)

    B. No transfers with 5-4-1 formation this week, and Ronaldo > Lukaku in GW7 keeping Antonio

(Antonio > Bamford would need a hit so ruled that out, and not interested in Jimenez until he actually starts returning.)

    Current team is
    Sanchez
    TAA Shaw Coufal Marcal
    Salah Bruno Benrahma Gray
    CR7 Antonio

    4.5, Livramento, 4.5 4.5

Ooo. Or less of an option with no one to finish off his hard work/play alongside.

He's looked excellent this season honestly, even in the 4-2 loss to West Ham I thought he was the beat player on the pitch but his returns can be pretty inconsistent (not always his fault either as relying on people like Joelinton to finish off his passes isn't reliable).

    DCL replacement.

Thinking of not doing one of the template moves to Bamford or Jimenez. Instead considering Saint Max. This would give me enough money to upgrade Matip to TAA.
Would you take a -4 to do the TAA move this week.?
Worried that if I leave it a week will be priced out of Chelsea defenders in a few weeks time.

Using the comparison tool he comes out better than Bamford and Jimenez.
Agree Newcastle are crap but talking about an individual and not the team. Similar to Ronaldo and Utd.lol

Seems like everyone on the WC are going with CR7 / Lukaku / Salah.
Cant really see the upside here versus going with Bam/Jimi + Jota.

And this big three will leave u very un flexible. Can some convince me?

      16mil = jota and bam + change

      16mil = lukaku + 4.4

You’re effectively reducing your squad by a an effective player

I'm actually losing my nerve over this. I had a great gameweek with Ronaldo and Lukaku but I can't handle not having Salah, so I'm bringing him in for a hit. It does leave an imbalanced squad, initially with 2x4m defenders and 2x4.5m mids although that will evolve into a solid 433. But it does leave no flexibility. All I can say is it looks a smidgin less terrifying than going without one of Ron/Rom/Mo/TAA.

Salah has great fixtures - can’t blame you there

I’d be looking to drop Ronaldo after a 2-5 games
