Scout Picks

As they prepare to face Burnley at the Etihad Stadium, three Manchester City players form the spine of our Gameweek 8 Scout Picks.

After Sam, Az, Neale and Tom submitted their Scout Squad selections earlier this week, we have chosen our best players ahead of tomorrow’s 11.00 BST deadline.

We line up in a 4-4-2 formation and come in at £82.9m, just under our £83.0m budget.

GOALKEEPER

Xhaka and Moura recalled as Ramsdale starts again

After a promising second half of last season yielded nine clean sheets from 23 games, three of which arrived in the final five, Arsenal have conceded just once in the four games since Aaron Ramsdale (£4.6m) was installed as first-choice goalkeeper. During that time, they have kept three clean sheets and given up just two big chances, fewer than any other Premier League side, while Ramsdale’s +1.10 expected goals (xG) prevented total ranks fourth amongst all goalkeepers so far. Now, the England stopper will be keen to build on that against Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace on Monday.

DEFENDERS

Wolves City dugout

With the news that he is available for Saturday’s early kick-off following injury, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) is clearly one of the best defender picks on offer in Gameweek 8, with potential for a clean sheet and attacking returns. A possible route to points may come via set-pieces, with opponents Watford allowing 2.7 xG from dead-ball situations so far this season, while they also rank 18th for crosses conceded from their left-flank. Given that Alexander-Arnold’s 17 successful crosses and 2.56 expected assists (xA) are both league-leading totals amongst all defenders in FPL, he could be set for another big week.

Apologies, just rephrasing advice here fellas

    Team for this GW is:

    Sanchez
    Tierney - Alonso - Rudiger*
    Allan - Sarr - Salah - Benrahma - Raphinha
    Ronaldo - Lukaku
    ___________________________________

I think with the possibility that Raphinha doesn’t play, a hit would be justified here?

    A) Rudiger +Williams > Cancelo + Dias -4
    B) Rudiger + Sarr > Cancelo + Foden -4
    C) Other?

    Advice appreciated again đŸ™‚

Yeah True, Alonso likely going the GW after along with Ronaldo and invest funds elsewhere, the team needs changing fast, I may just do A then, Double City defence looks a good bet

Cheers bud, I’d actually be sensible to just do this move, but maybe a chance of Cancelo not starting perhaps? I’d at least like to hedge my bet of having at least 1 city defender starting? If both start then I’m already up on the following hit I’m taking GW 89 lol

If you can’t rely on your bench in cases like this then change your bench … you will need it as winter and Covid and next IB and rotation hits hard soon

      C - Williams & Scarlett to Cancelo & Hwang

Very sound advice actually, cannot argue with that, I like those moves suggested! Great shout, Ronaldo I la likely going GW after tho if that changes anything? Would be able to bring Antonio + Jiminez in with CR 7 funds?

          • 10 Years

I have gone with Lukakau, Antonio & Hwang up top … means enough money for both Son & Salah in midfield in a few weeks if I want to

I would worry with City & Chelsea defenders playing 7 games in the next 20 days after all the a busy IB and a poor bench as support … as a strategy it is probably time to spend that extra to upgrade to the likes of D Luiz, White, Brownhill, Livra types that all start regularly or even have a Mbuemo / Hwang 5.5 single slot type benching headache ?

That will likely be my front line for GW 9 actually, having that capacity to accommodate Son is a nice addition as a result.

With Ronny going next GW I’ll have a lot of cash to invest, possibly Vardy over Son, but the likes of Allan and Scarlet definitely need sorting I agree, Mbuemo and D. Luiz are nice shouts here, eurgh feel like a lot needs changing in my team but a couple hits should sort it

it’s always the same and we could change 3 or 4 players every week đŸ™‚

I think Allan on your bench is fine

Ain’t that the truth hehe! Well, against my better judgement I went Rudiger + Williams > Dias & Cancelo, fingers crossed both start, and can then start really tweaking a little more next GW.

Yeah Allan is left there for now, thanks so much bud and GL for this GA! đŸ˜‰

Robbo played a game with National team quite close. Then they play an important ch.l game then utd. With that in mind that's a chance Robbo gets a breather.

I think Tsimikas played both games for Greece as well so much of a muchness. Though with Madrid midweek I wouldn’t be shocked.
Only thing is with Allison and Fab already missing need the strongest defence possible

    Salah (c) saka, Foden Townsend

        That’s initially what I had…

But if I’m comparing Mendy & White v. Ramsdale and Azpi…

Mendy and White are a lot more guaranteed to start.

Would just take 1 or 2 bad performances from Ramsdale and Leno is straight back in. Likewise Azpi has plenty of competition whereas White has no competition.

    Salah - Foden - Smith-Rowe
    Lukaku - Antonio - Maupay
