All eyes will be on St James’ Park this afternoon as Newcastle United take on Tottenham Hotspur in the first game since the Saudi-led takeover.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

The Magpies’ are given a boost by the return of talisman Callum Wilson (£7.3m), who has been out since Gameweek 3 with a thigh injury.

Jamaal Lascelles (£4.4m) also comes back into the starting XI, with Federico Fernandez (£4.4m) dropping to the bench.

As for Tottenham, they are unchanged from the side that beat Aston Villa in Gameweek 7.

That means another start for Son Heung-min (£10.1m), despite suggestions that he wouldn’t be involved due to a positive Covid-19 test.

GAMEWEEK 8 LINE-UPS

Newcastle XI: Darlow, Manquillo, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Hayden, Longstaff, Willock, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin, Wilson

Subs: Gillespie, Schar, Shelvey, Lewis, Hendrick, Fernandez, Fraser, Murphy, Gayle

Spurs XI: Lloris, Royal, Romero, Dier, Reguillon, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Moura, Son, Kane

Subs: Gollini, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies, Winks, Alli, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Gil

    Bottomed on last thread

The Armstrong WC punt seems like an epic fail.

Toney or Nacho a better replacement? Don't have any Brentford or Leicester currently.

Or could save transfer and bench Armstrong and monitor the Brentford v Leicester game next week and go with whoever performs better

I do think Nacho is gonna hit a hot streak similar to last season and he's started and returned in the last 2 games.

    1. RogDog_jimmy
      5 years, 7 days ago

I want Macho to go off.
      Love that dude.

I reckon if you want Toney go this week.
If you want Nacho wait a week.

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        5 years, 7 days ago

I couldn't decide between Mbuemo and Toney when on WC last week.

Was prepared to wait until after Brentford played Chelsea to decide and still no nearer to deciding.

I do hope Nacho comes good as I got him late on his hot streak last season.

I think I may wait one more game and watch the Brentford v Leicester game with an eager eye

    2. Warblers
      5 years, 7 days ago

Do we know why Armstrong sat? Otherwise, the reasons governing the punt remain the same.

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        5 years, 7 days ago

I would've thought Armstrong would start especially with Adams injured as well.

With an out of position Redmond playing up front along with a 5.0 striker and both returning, it doesn't bode well for Armstrong featuring much in the next few games which are good for Southampton

Benrahma had 3 points. So he was better than Ronaldo, Lukaku, Antonio, Raphinha, Gray, Sarr. I would never get rid at this stage.

Only this week. Poor fixtures incoming. Plus not really nailed for 90 mins.

Was always planning to swap Ronaldo to Lukaku this week and captain Lukaku.

For people that had the same plan - tempted to swap to Vardy instead?

    1. Quan MisTaka
      5 years, 7 days ago

yes i must admit i am. Not sure why im so hesitant tbh. In other seasons i have jumped on the vardy party very quick

      1. gart888
        5 years, 7 days ago

I'm kind of tempted to try to get Vardy in instead of Antonio at this point. Feel like Lukaku against 3 relegation candidates in a row is still too good to pass up.

        1. gart888
          5 years, 7 days ago

Ronaldo, Antonio, Jota for Lukaku, Vardy, Mbeumo for a -8. Maybe dumb, maybe genius.

        2. Quan MisTaka
          5 years, 7 days ago

Think Vardy and Antonio are best strikers in the game atm. Maybe Jesus too. Lukaku not living up to price. Same with Ronny

          1. gart888
            5 years, 7 days ago

Lukaku has always beat up on bad teams though. Think he could haul over the next 3 weeks.

Meanwhile Antonio is about to face spurs, villa, liverpool, wolves, city, brighton, chelsea. Pretty terrible run.

  12. Quan MisTaka
    5 years, 7 days ago

Ok so Salah is a given. But who is the 2nd best premium?

    A) Mane
    B) Vardy
    C) Lukaku
    D) Ronaldo
    E) KDB

    1. FOO FIGHTER
      5 years, 7 days ago

      B plus cash for upgrades.

    2. RogDog_jimmy
      5 years, 7 days ago

I think maybe Mané or KDB to be honest.

      Wish I didn’t move from Bruno > Lukaku/Ronaldo.

    3. The Point About It Is
      5 years, 7 days ago

Am actually thinking KDB for next set of games if DCL comes back firing.

    4. Quan MisTaka
      5 years, 7 days ago

Vardy is so temtping and would fit right in as either direct Lukaku replacement or could be worked in as a jimi/benrama sell. Mane and KDB would be great but difficult to fit in...

Erm, no. Its in the oily, bloody mitts of a morally reprehensible regime.

But nevermind, just think of the signings...

Funny how Sky Sports etc got hot and bothered over the Super League, but shoots its load over the Premier League further selling its soul to evil scum.

Are Arsenal owners chopping us journalists who speak out against them?

Are the Kroenke's in charge of a regime which treats females are second class humans?

A regime that endorses beheading and funds terrorism?

The Kroenkes aren't squeaky clean, but their crimes are leagues apart.
