The Gameweek 10 captaincy debate, if we can call it that, has only been about one Fantasy Premier League (FPL) name so far: Mohamed Salah (£12.9m).

There are some appealing matches elsewhere, however, with free-scoring Manchester City up against Crystal Palace at the Etihad, and Chelsea taking on a Newcastle United side still without a clean sheet.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 10 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

In a predictably one-sided captain poll, Mohamed Salah is the clear leader, having gained a whopping 76.3% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Jamie Vardy (£10.8m) sits in second, and is backed by 3.57% of FPL managers ahead of his home tie against Arsenal.

Phil Foden (£8.2m) occupies third-place with 2.86%, with the top-five list completed by Kai Havertz (£8.1m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m), with 1.93% and 1.47% respectively.

    Hey legends,

Wanted to get your thoughts on:

Saka to Foden for a -4?

This is how the team is currently set up:

    Sanchez
    TAA Dias Chilwell Livra
    Mo Mbeumo Saka Raph
    Vardy Antonio

    Bench: Fodder ASM White Fodder

From BBC Sport at 9.30am ish

Boss Marcelo Bielsa confirms that Junior Firpo and Raphinha are likely to be available for Sunday's trip to Norwich.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips is also fit to play but forward Patrick Bamford and defender Luke Ayling are out.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, is now asked specifically about Patrick Bamford and what his absence means for the team.

The forward has not played since 17 September after picking up an ankle injury against Newcastle.

"This is a question that to answer properly would need 10 minutes," Bielsa says.

"If you listen to my previous answers on this subject you will see the answers I have made. We have clearly lowered the amount of dangerous chances created but Bamford's presence is not the sole reason for that. "

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa finished his news conference by praising Jack Harrison, who like several players has made an indifferent start to the new campaign.

"What's happening to Harrison is happening to all our players in the squad where they have better or worse moments," Bielsa said.

"Nobody is able to maintain a regular consistency in their performances especially when they are playing in attack.

"Harrison is a player with a lot of resources to be able to play on both wings. We've enjoyed his contributions and he will continue to shine or will shine again in relation to his abilities.

"It's my job to put him in situations in the game where he's able to shine and to make him as important as I feel that he is."

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa also paid tribute to the "willingness and mental fortitude" of Stuart Dallas, who was impacted by the death of a close friend and contracting Covid-19 at the same time in September.

Asked whether he should give the Northern Ireland international a leave of absence, Bielsa said: "When episodes of these types happen it depends what each persons reality is.

"We respected Dallas’ decision to want to participate. Not only did we respect it, we gave it a lot of value and acted on it.

"He's a player that's very strong mentally and he has fought through aspects in his personal life...could be overcome through willingness and mental fortitude. The most dominant traits of his personality and have allowed him to grow in football."

I got shot of Raph this week.

So what criteria has everyone used to decide starting Livramento or Mbeumo?

    - Favour attacker over def?
    - previous points?
    - CS odds v scoring odds?
    - Underlying?

    1. Will Kane
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

I've used the scientific method of playing Mbeumo over Livra this week because that's what I did last week and I got it wrong. My hypothesis is that if I try to catch last week's points by going Livra over Mbeumo it will be Mbeumo who returns.

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 7 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

That is certainly one method to justify a selection. We just need to accept from time to time we will leave points on bench. I'm currently leaning towards starting Livramento due to potential CS and has looked quite attacking in recent GWs

        1. Will Kane
          • 9 Years
          4 years, 5 months ago

Yeah, I actually don't get overly upset about leaving points on the bench, I like to know I have a chance of getting something when my bench does get called into action. I still haven't decided for sure, as I said gone with Mbeumo for now but at the same time thinking I wouldn't mind if he doesn't make the game through injury!

Livra is a starter for me, he's too good to be a bench player now

I agree he is too good to bench and maybe we get blinded with his price point. He will cause benching headaches when SOU have favorable fixtures

    Reality:

I’m sorry, This will sound rude, but that is utter rubbish. The whole reason I feel so incensed is the fact that they’re not trying at all.
They’re lazy and lacklustre. Pollard simply decided to walk off the pitch. Russell got run out in the non strikers end, which is comfortably the most embarrassing way to get out. They’ve been dropped at least 3 times. Abysmal.

Neither. I just love them as a team. When it comes to cricket I enjoy pretty much any team. But just watching them this cup has got me so angry. The body language, the shrug of the shoulders rubbish I keep seeing. They’re not what they were but this is shameful.

That's fair enough. I knew you had to have some skin in the game to be so upset. This is typical of Windies if you ask me. They did similar in the ODI WC last time out too if I remember rightly.

              This tournament I'm cheering for
              England
              Scotland
              As an Englishman

Afghanistan - just love watching Khan

Yeah you got me. Don’t really have any emotion when it comes to football.

As soon as I saw that Gayle was in the squad I knew that their tournament was doomed. He needs to do the right thing and remove himself from selection, otherwise they’ll just keep picking him. Don’t usually like to talk about age but at 42, that’s just a bit much.

I’d get Son. Leeds hardly score anymore and Son always scores against United. Plus United have forgotten how to defend.

FPL 101, don't book in transfers on a Wildcard.

Ask Az he did it a couple of weeks ago and now he's stuck with Maupay

I think it's unlikely, I think there are some consecutive-game scoring records there for Salah to break... not sure if/how much consideration managers give to that kind of thing... I know he has to have a rest at some point but I don't this week is it

Prefer Sanchez as long term pick but Fern for short term and then jump off...if you want to do a GK change

Only if you've got WC left so you can jump of easily down the line, otherwise play it safe with Sanchez

Are people sleeping on Mane? Having a good season so far and maybe overlooked as a premium even with most of premiums disappointing.

    1. SB007
      • 8 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

No - at that price point hard to fit in with TAA.Chil.Son.Attacker premium slot if needed.....its a good differential but if you have Salah thats fine as he is a one man points machine

    2. Gingerman
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

I think he a good shout when other premiums aren't performing. My problem is the midfield slot it takes up when we've got lots of good mid price options

    3. Bartowski
      • 15 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

Definitely an option with how Pool are playing, although benching last week was a bit of a spanner. The price isn't as much of a hindrance simply because as you said there are no real premiums and the abundance of better performing cheap and mid priced strikers means you can fit him in.

Alonso to Chilwell seems like a no-brainer.

I’ve consistently had the wrong Chelsea defenders all season - a mixture of bad luck and poor decision-making.

How about Greenwood to Mount for a -4 as well or is the Chelsea midfield another merry-go-round I don’t want to hop on?

    Thoughts?

    1. Tonyawesome69
      • 7 Years

Not sure Mount is worth the hit this GW. He won't be hauling in a regular basis. Decent long term pick though

That Mount haul will never happen to that degree again anyone soon.

Norwich were dreadful. His first goal was good, but he was very lucky for the penalty (both takes were poor) & lucky that RLC overran the ball, because he was shooting otherwise. Assist too wasn't that spectacular.

He's actually a decent asset but no team will be as poor as Norwich were.
