West Ham United have just come to the end of a run in which they faced seven of the current top 10 Premier League sides in succession.

Now their schedule looks altogether more appealing, with only trips to Arsenal and Manchester United showing up as blobs of red on our Season Ticker from Gameweeks 16-27.

Bowen v Antonio: West Ham's FPL attacking options compared 1

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest is chiefly focusing on Michail Antonio (£7.9m) and Jarrod Bowen (£6.4m), who are both among the top three most bought players in their positions ahead of Gameweek 16.

A lot of FPL managers already own Antonio, of course: his ownership sits at 38.8% overall and 48.6% in the top 10k.

Bowen is a veritable differential at 3.7% and 1.7% respectively but will now inevitably rise in popularity after his double-digit haul against Chelsea, and the West Ham ‘double-up’ will be favoured by many of us going forward.

But how do the two Hammers options stack up against one another, should it be an ‘either/or’ decision?

We’ll explore Antonio and Bowen’s appeal in the Premium Members article below.

FPL POINTS

AntonioBowen
Overall7171
Last four Gameweeks816
Last six Gameweeks1436
Last 12 Gameweeks3165

The pair have, rather neatly, exactly the same points tallies as one another.

Forty of Antonio’s 71 points came in the first three Gameweeks, however, and Bowen has scored over twice as many points (65 v 31) as his teammate since then.

ANTONIO v BOWEN: GOAL THREAT

Over the course of the season, Antonio betters Bowen for most attacking metrics – as seen below.

Above: Antonio v Bowen in Gameweeks 1-15

Discounting Antonio’s early-season purple patch, however, and it’s Bowen who mostly comes out on top over the last 12 Gameweeks. The midfielder has had over twice as many big chances (seven v three) in that period and is ahead on shots in the box (26 v 21), amongst other metrics.

Above: Antonio v Bowen in Gameweeks 4-15

Who would you buy first?(will get one in gw16 and other in gw18)
    A)Foden
    B)Bowen
Tempted to get foden in first because he has Leeds in gw17 and if he starts mega haul on the cards.

Agrees with this. I have Foden and Bernardo (had Foden for a while, brought Bernardo in for last week) but switching between them feels like it's destined for pain. Seen a lot get rid of Foden recently saying he's not worth it now deciding he's worth getting in again. Gundogan could have had a goal at the weekend and still got the assist, stick with him

KDB starts tomorrow according to Pep so Gundo might get the same rest as Bernardo.

They don’t have any other cm options (with zinchenko playing lb)

Man City is Man City - pick your poison and stay with it. Swapping them about without real reason just leads to a worse pain. I went Gundo purely for the off chance of a pen and hoping Bilva had overperformed but maybe like most times should have gone with the form horse. I also put Jesus in and it was a risk that backfired, I knew that risk though.

    Better option?

    A) Bilva & Bowen (442)
    B) Foden & King (433)

Bilva fully rested for UCL is a big plus in his favour. Although Foden could be benched too but let's see.
With option B I get both players this week.
But in option A I will get Bilva this week and Bowen in GW17/18.

I find it odd seeing so many people stating things like "it's too late to get Jota". How? He's still going to play while Firmino is out, granted he may be back soon but I doubt he'll be rushed back and Jota still has done well coming off of the bench a lot anyway. Then you have AFCON starting in a number of weeks where you'd imagine Jota would be guaranteed to play for at least a few games in a row. It's like someone saying after this weekend "it's too late to get in Bernardo" after a blank just because he hauled the weeks before and didn't this time, as if there are no more points left he can get. Even with Foden people acted like the time to get him had long passed because he had a couple of good weeks then a couple of blanks and an injury and now suddenly everyone's asking "Foden or Bernardo?". There's over half a season left yet you'd swear there were about 2 matches left.

Jota didn't train today either, along with Henderson & Thiago. They might get a similar rest to Bernardo, Rodri & Cancelo. Klopp cannot afford to risk him with AFCON coming up, along with Firmino, who can't be rushed back and get injured for the third time this season...

Think people are just frustrated with Jota if they missed his points. His points now mean very little for rank and he blanked... natural process!

I don't know if that's right. I can't really see Firmino or Origi playing in one of the wide forward spots, so I would expect it to be Minamino.

I'd say late in the context of ownership. 91% top 10k EO last GW. If you get him now, you avoid falling if he hauls but you don't gain much. Doing well in FPL in theory is about anticipating where the template moves next and being ahead of the curve, e.g. why Bernando owners have killed it in recent weeks but where his points will start to be worth 'less' as he is now being hugely transferred in.

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years

I suppose that makes a bit more sense, cheers. Still, I feel it feels a little redundant, in a way it's like saying to those early on that went without Salah that it was too late but the risk of falling behind surely means then that it's still worthwhile to do, if not even more important than it would be otherwise

How many clean sheets do you think Arsenal will keep? In the next 6 (up to Jan 1) they face West Ham, Leeds (with nearly a full-strength squad) and City, as well as tricky ties against Soton and Wolves. It looks good on paper but Chelsea have a nice immediate run and the worry I have with Ronaldo is how often he'll be rested when the games come thick and fast in the next 3-4 weeks. He's still Ronaldo of course but if he misses the better games it could be frustrating.

Those are my only qualms, really they should be good moves and it looks good to me but it sounds like you might be looking for possible issues just to weigh things up best (which is good as most want to just hear "yes" and little else)

Just stick it out with Sanchez for the save points. Bachmann could lose his place when Forster is back in January.

Is Laporte looking like the one who is nailed over Stones?

Looks that way, with Cancelo at left back Pep likes to play a left footed defender at LCB

Not for me. I don't think I would lose Son

Really? I’ve watched both games recently, against probably the 2 worst in the league at home, and felt he was quite lucky

About to head on a long flight... should be no price changes for Toney, Raphinha, Foden, King tonight right? Want to hold to the City midweek game if possible!

Son has a depleted Brighton side, than a very leaky Lei. Why sell?

I've had Viva Ronaldo booming in my head for a couple of hours now.

I know what needs to happen, but I have to trade in Son to do it...

Assuming you own Foster as your backup, which route is best for starting keeper?

    A) Ederson and Bernardo

    B) Bachman and Cancelo

    C) Saka + Alonso -> Bernardo + Dalot
    B) Saka -> Bowen (have Antonio)

What's an ideal WC team right now? something along these lines?

    Ramsdale/Ddg
Taa James Cancelo --- Davies Livramento
Salah Jota Bilva Bowen Foden --- Browhill
    Ronaldo King

    Some possible changes
    - Antonio over Foden in a 343
    - If you want 4atb with Alonso, not sure who you would drop

Yeah, pretty much what I'd go for.

      Ramsdale
      TAA - Cancelo - James
      Salah - Foden - Jota - Bowen
      Ronaldo - Antonio - King

I think Bowen edges Alonso over the Hammers' good fixture run, though not sure...

      I'm going with a 343 without Ronaldo.
