There are two Premier League matches kicking-off at 14:00 GMT today – Burnley v West Ham United and Leicester City v Newcastle United.

Sean Dyche makes three changes from Gameweek 15, with Ben Mee, Jack Cork and Jay Rodriguez coming in for Nathan Collins, Josh Brownhill and Maxwell Cornet, who misses out with a thigh injury.

As for West Ham, they make two changes, with Arthur Masuaku and Said Benrahma replacing Ben Johnson and Kurt Zouma, both of whom are absent after sustaining hamstring injuries against Chelsea last week, as is Aaron Cresswell with an ongoing back problem.

Jamie Vardy once again starts on the bench for Leicester City, with Patson Daka preferred up front for a second successive week, flanked by Harvey Barnes and James Maddison.

Youri Tielemans also comes in for Ademola Lookman, who is absent from the matchday squad.

At Newcastle, Eddie Howe names an unchanged XI after picking up their first win of the season against Burnley in Gameweek 15. That means Callum Wilson, who has scored eight goals in his last 12 league appearances, leads the line in an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation.

GAMEWEEK 16 LINE-UPS

Subs: Areola, Vlasic, Alese, Fornals, Noble, Kral, Baptiste, Ashby, Yarmolenko

Protecting Vardy from injury, and Daka has been doing well in that role

Not nice for FPL, but nice for injury prevention

Sure, probably should have get rid of Vardy some time ago but it is how it is

Knowing what medical teams would advise coaches to do in this period helps predict FPL points. It's all part of the football ecosystem

For instance, I don't expect all City attackers to start GWs 16 to 18, except if injuries reduce roulette options. Great for FPL, yes, but very high injury risk. We're already seeing nailed players dropping...

I thought that he may be rested vs New but on the other hand potentially no game vs Spurs and rest last GW made me keep Vardy

Yeah, same. Was gonna sell after this regardless the spurs game went ahead or not. Just thought he would've started given they probably won't play midweek.

If he was the only good number 9, yes

The problem is Daka. Daka has done too well since joining to take such risks with Vardy

Remember what Vardy's injury did to them last season? Rodgers and the medical team will avoid that where possible, I guess

Which move looks better? 2 FT, 0.4 itb

    Ramsdale Foster
    TAA James Alonso Cancelo Livra
    Salah Foden Jota ESR Brownhill
    Vardy Jesus King

    A) Vardy + Jesus -> Ronaldo + Gelhardt (Brownhill to Bowen next GW, move to 352/451)

    B) Vardy + Jesus + Alonso -> Ronaldo + Antonio + Dalot (-4)

It'll be interesting to watch Wilson today. I haven't really considered him, given the poor run of fixtures coming up, but he's one of the most consistent forwards around at the mement.

I am done with Vardy. 2FT for team surgery. Which option is better:

    (1) Watkins + Dalot
    Bench: Gallagher, Livramento, Cancelo*
(will have 3.1m to upgrade Gallagher -> Foden next week and enter xmas period with a bench of Bowen, Dalot, Livramento)

    (2) Ronaldo + Livramento
    Bench: Douglas Luiz, Duffy*, Cancelo*
(will have no money left and enter xmas period with a bench of Luiz, Livramento, Duffy)

I am leaning towards option 1.

      Current team is 85% template:

      Ramsdale
      TAA, Rudiger, Livramento, Cancelo*, Duffy*
      Salah, Jota, Bernardo, Bowen, Gallagher
      Antonio, Vardy, Dennis

        1. banskt

          4 years, 4 months ago

I got Livra at 4.0m, so current selling price is 4.2m.

Ait Nouri is affordable. But Wolves have terrible fixtures over the xmas.

          1. Ze_Austin
            • 7 Years

You only need him vs Brighton. Relegated to your bench otherwise, sometimes third sub

He's playing for one of the league's best defences atm, defending well even against those tough sides, He's likely to come in with 1 or 2 points when needed (maybe 5/6 if you're lucky), while funds in your XI are maxed out for points

I do understand the temptation with Watkins and funds. This is just my take on it

Rudiger, TAA and Cancelo will rarely be rested, so that leaves attacker rests, where Gallagher and Dennis easily come in. I don't think you'd need your second sub enough to justify skipping Ronaldo

              Thanks for the insight.

Squad with Ronaldo will not have Gallagher. Here are the two squads:

              Ramsdale, 4.0m
TAA, Cancelo*, Rudiger, Duffy*, Ait Nouri/Livramento
Salah, Jota, Bernardo, Bowen, Douglas Luiz
              Ronaldo, Antonio, Dennis

              Ramsdale, 4.0m
TAA, Cancelo*, Rudiger, Dalot, Ait Nouri/Livramento
              Salah, Jota, Bernardo, Bowen, Foden
              Watkins, Antonio, Dennis

Yeah, Everton's supply line for their striker is back. I'm waiting for DCL in GW19, but there's not much going against Richarlison for now

When we have a few more options on bench, strong in centre (Allan, Gomes, Doucoure) and play front 3 we look v. hard to beat. I'd like to see us starting a 433 today. With Gordon making way for Gomes in the middle

But Benetez will probably stick Rondon up front in a 222211.

James - TAA - Livramento (Dier* - Cancelo*)
Salah - Jota - ESR - Gundo* (Mbuemo)
    Ronaldo - Antonio - King
    1 ft, 1.0 itb

    A) Mbuemo > Bowen (must move tonight)
    B) Gundo > Bernardo
