What the FA Cup results and draw mean for FPL Gameweeks 27 and 30

We’re starting to get a better picture of the situation in Gameweeks 27 and 30 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) after the latest FA Cup results and draw.

GAMEWEEK 30

Three scheduled Premier League fixtures will definitely go ahead in Blank Gameweek 30: Arsenal v Aston Villa, Leicester City v Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds United.

As many as seven league matches could be postponed because of the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals, however, after the fifth-round draw kept apart many of the top-flight teams.

The full Blank Gameweek 30 picture will be known ahead of Gameweek 28.

GAMEWEEK 27

After the weekend’s cup results, a maximum of three matches could potentially be added to Gameweek 27 to make it a ‘double’ (or a ‘single’ for Leicester).

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will now definitely blank in Gameweek 27.

The list of outstanding fixtures that could fall here are:

  • Burnley v Leicester City
  • Leeds United v Aston Villa
  • Aston Villa v Burnley
  • Wolves v Watford

Only Leeds v Aston Villa of that foursome was scheduled to be televised (on Amazon), so it could be that this fixture is saved for a later date to avoid a clash with the FA Cup matches on TV.

The most urgent game that needs rescheduling is Burnley v Leicester, with the Foxes having four outstanding fixtures but otherwise having no free midweeks until Gameweek 33 *if* they continue to progress in Europe.

Leicester’s elimination does, at least, majorly lower the possibility of a Triple Gameweek for Brendan Rodgers’ side, as they should have enough free windows to fulfill their fixtures.

        I think it would actually and no one in my league has Edouard, he has good games and should pay off that -4, also Sanchez always play full 90min and I need a way to fund Edouard move.

          Sanchez isn't nailed on. With Romero back most people think Dier and Romero will be first choice and then Sanchez, Davies and possibly Tanganga will be rotated around.

        Thanks both. My only issue right now is who to pick out of Kane and Son. Son would allow me a decent midfield but only 3 mid range strikers. With Kane upfront if gives me flexibility to move funds to other premiums when fixtures turn. Broja is a concern but I plan to alternate him and Edouard for now

      Looks great. You must have impressive team value to get KDB Kane and Salah without sacrificing too much elsewhere. Only thing would be the goalkeepers....think I would prefer a Sanchez/Ramsdale or Sa/Sanchez combo if you can stretch to that

          Son vs Kane is a tricky one - i've been mulling this over all week. I think I prefer what you have already so the Kane Martinelli combo over Son and say a King or Weighorst (limited options in the 6.5m strikers!!)

      Looks alright, but would you only have 2 Liverpool for GW26? I would reconsider that if so, especially as you only have one Arsenal so should be able to navigate 27 easily enough

        I can’t really afford a 3rd option unless I downgrade somewhere as I’ll be doing Bruno > Salah for GW26. Would love to have Jota but can’t see where I’d fit him and not sure on any other assets as Robbo/VVD a bit pricey unless I found a way of doing Laporte > VVD for 26

          The WC I drafted before I decided against wildcarding went Bruno (25) to Mane (26) to Son (27). I hope others - except those in my ML - will do it so I can bask in their reflected glory if Mane hauls in the DGW

      Very similar to me apart from I have Sterling not KDB. I’d say KDB is a guaranteed starter unlike Sterling so not to do it.

      Its quite a big hit but could pay off when you consider not just the double but also Watford & Leicester games for Arsenal, plus the value of having some guaranteed starters for BGW30.

      I'm still undecided which premiums to go with in 24/5. This week its KDB for sure + either Mahrez/Bruno, 25 is Salah + Bruno/KDB

      I wouldn't worry about it. It's just setting your team up way ahead of deadline so it's set if you forget or miss the deadline for whatever reason.

      I always do it straight away anyway as I find it easier to see the weaknesses in my team when it is actually set up on the page.

      Think Kane has a great record vs Southampton so maybe him in your case. City players (bar Cancelo, Laporte and Kdb to a lesser extent) are always at risk at getting rotated.

      Both moves are great. If I had to choose, I'd go with Dennis & Martinelli but its very close

          In all honesty I'd hold on with Arsenal players. Suppose before GW 26 will give us a better idea as you mentioned.

          Probably Saka for being more consistent ...and probably Tierney if a second Arsenal player is needed; I think Wolves will be low scoring games.

                Doesnt seem like Gerrard is too keen on Ings, doesnt quite fit how he likes to play with a pressing forward & 2 no10s. Suppose he'll make a few apps but dont see him as a regular starter
