We’re taking another crack at FanTeam‘s latest Weekly Monster, in which Fantasy managers can turn a £1.68 entry fee into a £1,260 cash windfall.

The Weekly Monster is a Fantasy tournament that effectively gives entrants the chance to build a ‘Free Hit’ squad for Gameweek 25 and win big.

There is a kitty of £10,500 (or €12.5k) to play for, with prizes awarded down to 1,000th place and beyond.

The deadline is at 15:00 GMT on Saturday.

Head to the FanTeam lobby and look for the ‘Gameweek 25 €50K EPL Weekly Monster [€7.5K to 1st place]’ link (seen above) to choose your level of entry.

A brief how-to-play guide is featured beneath our picks.

WEEKLY MONSTER FIXTURES

SCOUT PICKS FOR GAMEWEEK 25

Despite the Double Gameweek of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the rearranged Manchester United vs Brighton and Hove Albion match is not included in this Weekly Monster. Furthermore, as the other game for Ralf Rangnick’s side is on Saturday lunchtime, neither of theirs are amongst the eight selected fixtures.

Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez (7.5m) gets the nod in goal, as opponents Newcastle United have had 35 goal attempts over their last two matches and are high in confidence for the clash at St James’ Park. Whilst they have looked solid under Steven Gerrard, Martinez might also be expected to make many saves.

In defence, big hitters Joao Cancelo (12.2m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (11.6m) have promising trips to Norwich City and Burnley. They regularly deliver at both ends of the pitch and justify their price tags by ranking in the top five scoring players in FanTeam this season. This 4-4-2 formation includes a defender from both sides of the Watford vs Brighton match.

The Seagulls have the league’s fourth-best expected goals conceded (xGC) tally, whilst Roy Hodgson has clearly made defensive solidity his priority at Vicarage Road after delivering their first clean sheet of the season during his debut. Lewis Dunk (8.0m) and Hassane Kamara (5.9m) have been selected.

While a trip to Spurs is no cakewalk, Wolves haven’t conceded more than one goal in a match since Gameweek 11 – so 5.2m for Nelson Semedo is a bit of a steal and a necessary bargain buy to fund the heavy hitters elsewhere.

Kevin De Bruyne (13.9m) and Mohamed Salah (13.8m) are the big names in midfield. The Egyptian needs no introduction and will be raring to get back amongst the goals after the penalty heartache that saw Senegal crowned champions of Africa. He is vice-captain to De Bruyne, in great form after five goals and two assists during his last eight league matches. Because of the ‘Safety Net’ feature, we can take a risk on City assets who might be benched – see below for an explanation.

The descent of Everton towards the relegation zone adds to the appeal of Leeds United’s Raphinha (8.8m). Although the Brazilian is their attacking talisman, he was strangely without a goal or assist during their 3-3 draw at Aston Villa. He scored in their reverse meeting of Gameweek 2.

Someone who did haul in that six-goal thriller at Villa Park was Philippe Coutinho (8.7), who now faces a Newcastle side who have got only two clean sheets all season.

Up front, the landscape isn’t great. Few strikers are scoring and those that do tend to be unfashionable and barely owned. Odsonne Edouard (8.7m) was the exception and found great form, until being named as a substitute on Wednesday night. This probably/hopefully makes him more likely to start against Brentford.

HOW TO PLAY: A BRIEF GUIDE

Slightly different from the usual squad-based games, FanTeam managers are given a budget of €105m to build a team of 11 players that includes at least one goalkeeper, three defenders, two midfielders and one forward.

A maximum of three players are allowed from one club and captains score double points, as usual.

Here are some other minor differences to the otherwise easy-to-play game:

  • There is no bench or manual substitutes; instead, there is a ‘Safety Net’ feature. If a player in your Fantasy team isn’t in the starting XI for their side, they will automatically be substituted for the next priced player from the same position and club.
  • A ‘Stacking Penalty’ is given if you have two or more defensive players from the same club and they keep a clean sheet. One point is deducted for each additional asset that you select from the same side.

HOW DOES THE SCORING WORK?

FPL managers looking for a way to make their knowledge pay will have no trouble picking up FanTeam‘s Gameweek 25 Weekly Monster, with its familiar scoring system.

Think of it as FPL without the bonus points, with a few other exceptions such as shots on target and winning/losing impact points – detailed in the graphic above.

Hello everyone, got 2 FT and 2.1ITB

Thinking of something along those lines:

GW25 - Antonio/DCL to Broja and roll FT
GW26 - Bruno, Livra, Foden to Salah, white, Son for -4

    DDG Bach
    TAA Cancelo Cash Livra Cucurella

Think you need to decide if the Salah move is coming from the Kane or Bruno money.

If it's coming from Kane, might as well make the moves this week. Kane and Gray --> ?? & Salah.

If it's coming from Bruno and you're ditching him next week, I'd probably ditch Gray for someone (cornet if fit?) with the next few weeks in mind.

      There is no ‘template strategy’.
There are simply too many combinations - and all are team dependent.

For my team I’m looking at

      TC - GW26 (Salah)
      FH - GW30

WC maybe 31 or 32. Using BB not long after in a big DGW with all DGWers on the bench.

I’m keeping the other FH for a rainy day to play at my leisure

I’m sure I’m not the only one pondering a
    MFer > (B)runo > (S)alah transfers over the next couple of GW’s.
But, I think I’ve made my decision on this now. I’m not bothering with Bruno (I have CR7 for Captain in 25) and I’m going straight to Salah.
He looked fantastic last night even though he didn’t score any points. May even out-do Bruno in his DGW anyway.

      Nice transfers those.
My only worry is that KDB is rested v Norwich for the Champs League game.
I mean, City can easily put Norwich to the sword without KDB - but Pep will definitely need him for CL.
Not trying to scare monger - but I’d be worried if I owned him

Im probably not the only one who has Salah and Son in the team. It makes it difficult to bring inn Bruno. Only United player I have is DDG.

So to bring inn Bruno I can:
    Salah to Bruno to Salah
    Son to Bruno to Son

Both options will cost med 2 transfers just to get back a player I allready own. You can say it costs 2*4p=8p + any points Salah or Son would score in GW25. Its not worth it, I think. Better to save the transfer and use it elswhere.

props to michail antonio. giving us a bit of perspective on the zouma issue. players accused and found guillty of racism are banned for 8 games, never any clamour for them to be sacked but a footballer kicks a cat (yes, horrific) and the outrage is deafening. we really need to ask ourselves how things that are much worse on the scale of awful behaviour have been normalised to such an extent .

I may get jumped upon here but physically hurting a live being (whether animal or human) is worse than a racial slur. Don’t get me wrong, the latter is a terrible offence, but physical violence is worse, especially against something that is not strong enough to fight back.

      1. boc610
        • 13 Years

just dont agree with that.deliberate violence directed against any living thing is abhorrent but lets be fair a racial slur can cause damage for years and potentially ruin a persons life. that cat immediately sprang to its feet. ive seen them get smacked by cars and run off as if nothing happened. its not excusing Zouma one bit but in terms of damage done abusing a person for their beliefs or skin colour or appearance can have life changing consequences.

This, 100000% this. They're both abhorrent and both should be punished, I'm bored of hearing people making it about what's worse than the other, they're both awful but arguably, racism punishments are too lenient.

and when a player is found guilty of racism would you say people are as upset by it as they are this? they arent. and thats because we have normailsed this kind of behaviour in football. the fact remains if footballers remain in their jobs after racism are we to then ask for zouma to lose hos job to?

I’m not sure the two things could and should be linked.

Racism should absolutely have a larger punishment then it has been previously served. But zoumas behaviour is equally as awful and therefore should be punished severely.

I think really the point should be that racist behaviours aren’t punished severely enough rather then being used in context with the Zouma situation and it being implied that the reaction has been over the top.

      Subjective arguments are never satisfying.

Everyone has their own scale. To some physical violence is worse than causing offense, to others it isn't. You'll never get a consensus.

I hate racism in football, but this has absolutely nothing to do with what Zouma did.

      Both should be long/permanent bans.

He's trying to protect his mate.

he is making is making us aware of how hypocritical we are and how prone we are to get the pitchforks out for one thing yet ignore others. take newcastles ownership for example. they are tied to a regime that cut up and dismembered a human being yet id say Ive seen nothing like the ourtrage over that as i have this.

Own Salah already so seems logical to do KDB to Bruno & then Bruno to Son I think.

KDB could haul but I expect him to get no more than 70 mins with Bruno getting 180 as C, in a game of odds, I find it hard to bet against that, compared them in the members area for the last 4 and they are pretty similar all round, just don't fancy sweating until Tue at the potential of Brunos captaincy twice.

Feels like bringing in Bruno is more protecting rank. Of course he could easily haul but I think both games will be tough for United

That's 100% what it is, I want to TC Salah next week and want to do it from a position of strength as opposed to trying to claw back lost ground.

All I want this week is a green arrow to set that up so it might be easier to play defensive this week to set next week up.

Similar position as you. Already have Salah and could bring in Bruno for a hit or save FT and attack the other GWs.

I'm not convinced going with United yet
