We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a weekday series that serves non-Premier League matchdays and days when we don’t bring you a team news/press conference round-up.

MAN UTD V BRIGHTON: DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 25 TEAM NEWS

There weren’t any fresh fitness concerns reported by either Ralf Rangnick or Graham Potter ahead of the final match of Double Gameweek 25 on Tuesday.

Edinson Cavani (£8.4m) won’t recover from a groin injury in time to face the Seagulls, which may bode well for Cristiano Ronaldo‘s (£12.5m) prospects of being handed successive starts in the league.

“Fred will be available again. He’ll also be part of the group for tomorrow. Edinson is still out, the same with Nema [Matic]. The rest is, well, Alex [Telles] is back again in the squad and already was part of the group for the Southampton game and he will also be available.” – Ralf Rangnick

Potter has the same squad available to him as he did on Saturday, with no-one returning and Lewis Dunk‘s (£4.8m) knee strapping not a hindrance to him playing.

“We will be as we were ahead of the Watford game. Enock Mwepu isn’t far away from being available. Jeremy Sarmiento’s rehab is going well so he’s getting closer. Lewis Dunk has been fine, he has trained well and recovered well. He’s in a good place.” – Graham Potter

GREALISH OUT

Jack Grealish (£7.5m) won’t shake off a recurring shin injury in time to face Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night, although his manager said he was “better” when facing the media on Monday.

“He is better, but for tomorrow he is not available alongside Cole Palmer and Gabriel [Jesus].” – Pep Guardiola

That prognosis could mean anything in Pep-speak and should Grealish and Gabriel Jesus (£8.5m) again miss out in Gameweek 26, the competition for places in the attacking trident is much less fierce and potentially bodes well for Phil Foden (£8.0m) et al against Spurs.

TRIPPIER FRACTURES FOOT

No sooner had the returning Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) made his mark on FPL again than he is sidelined for weeks, potentially months after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his foot.

The defender had registered two goals, one clean sheet and 27 points in four matches for Newcastle but limped out of the match against Aston Villa on Saturday.

“Trippier underwent an X-ray immediately after the game and scans have shown a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Everyone at the club wishes Kieran a speedy recovery.” – Newcastle club statement

Likely deputy Javier Manquillo (£3.9m) would have been one for the watchlist for the run-in but he too sustained an ankle ligament injury in Gameweek 25 and assessment is ongoing on him.

Wondering if in fact using first FH in 27 has more upside compared to teams playing in 30 ( can have Arsenal Wolves Leeds Villa players anyway by then) and play second FH possibly in 33- put this possible FH together for 27- what are thoughts on FH 27 v 30 as more premium players available - and how does this FH 27 team look?

    Pope (cry, LEI)
Cancelo (eve) Saiss (whu) Varane (WAT)
KDB (eve) Son (lee) Bruno (WAT) Cornet (cry, LEI)
Kane (lee) Weghorst ( cry,LEI) Broja (NOR)

Raya (BUR) Ramsey (BHA) Livramento (NOR) Manquillo (bre)

27 for sure, a handful of teams have tasty fixtures.

I'd go Sterling over KDB and go double Burnley D instead of Cornet.

I'm FH in 27 and navigating through 30. With so few fixtures, 30 will be a low scoring week plus my team is loaded with Arsenal and Villa already.

Your FH team is good. Would probably just go with one of Cornet/Weghorst

Currently on TAA + Robbo + Jota, does this move look ok for this GW?

KDB +4 a far better option than Son for mine. Son has one game against City which is a likely 2 pointer.

Can save my FH GW27 if avoid Arsenal players and bring in Cornet + Jim/Broja

Is this squad good enough? Or should I target Arsenal (Saka + Tierney/Ramsdale) and FH in 27 (Have both remaining)

    DDG
    Cancelo | Dias | Livra
    Sancho | Bowen | Cornet | Brownhill
    Watkins | Jiminez/Broja | Dennis

    Bachmann | Salah | Trent | Robbo

Am thinking same myself, would probably prefer Saka but if I go Cornet and then transfer out Gray next week, I should be able to field a full 11 for GW27.

I'm seeing loads of questions asking of FPL managers should bench boost.

Many have a full bench and yet so many are against it.

If you still have your WC intact, then I can see the appeal in waiting, and getting a full bench of DGWers. But if you've already played the WC/have plans to load up on your starting XI then you certainly use your BB in a decent week like this one.

Definitely, using a good opportunity to get it off your chest is never a bad move

      depends on the bench...

Definitely think better double gameweeks to use it though

    3. Casual Player

I think a lot of people get hung up on the 15 DGW players being ideal for BB.

I find this weird for two reasons:

      1. The same people will often happily recommend less than 11 DGW players for a FH, due to good fixtures. Which is inconsistent with the BB logic.

      2. Even the best planned WC/BB combo rarely gets you to 15DGW players. 10-12 is typical. So 8-9 this week plus a strong playing bench is a very viable BB

        This.

And in addition to that, loading up a WC full of doublers might be great if you avoid injury and your BB works out the following week. But after that there is every chance you're left with a team needing a fair bit of expensive surgery in the weeks following.

I'm really divided between playing bench boost or triple captain this week - obviously TC on Salah looks great, but i also have a good BB lined up and want to 'trim' my squad for future gameweeks and gets the BB out of the way, i've already played my wildcard, really 50/50 on which way to go...

    DDG

    A) Bruno and Foden to Saka/Cornet/Raph and Salah

I want to know if there is something I am overlooking re: all the talk of using FH in week 27. Besides filing the places of missing Liverpool and Arsenal players, is there anything else significant that is motivating those looking to use FH?

    1. House Frey Wedding Planner
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

Liverpool and Arsenal have the best double gameweek this week to attack, but both blank in 27. If your team is loaded with Liverpool and Arsenal as well as possibly having bench fodder you're reluctant to play, then it would be the best use of the FH chip.

Loading up on Arsenal isn't the worst strategy as they play in bgw30 and could still possibly play Chelsea in gw28 as a double. FH in 27 covers this nicely when they blank

      1. NorCal Villan
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 2 months ago

Gotcha. I was aware of the good double this week for both Liverpool and Arsenal. At the moment I just have Salah & TAA in my lineup. My team for 27 is/will be good enough to just bench Salah & TAA that week. So at the moment I plan to use first FH in 26 for 11 doublers. I have sizable leads in my ML and want to be aggressive this week and hopefully administer a MacGruberesque throat-rip to my rivals

If you're FH in 27 and playing through 30, then I think DDG to Ramsdale is worth a -4 as Ramsdale will have at least 3 more fixtures between 26-32 than DDG plus much better fixtures.

If not FH in 27 then good to go

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        • 7 Years

Sorry at least 2 fixtures more than DDG with a possible 3rd if Chelsea v Arsenal gets rescheduled for gw28

I'm also a little torn between going with Sa and Ramsdale. Really not much between them, both have plenty of fixtures and good fixtures at that...Sa has a game in 27 whereas Ramsdale doesn't. I'm planning to FH in 27 so that covers it for me. Ramsdale might have a double in 28 as well.

I think either would outscore DDG up to gw32 by more than 4 points thus making the hit worthwhile

Ah right. Should've realised that the FH helps with the build to the other GW.

That really only makes sense as an option if you have already used a FH and want to save the last for later.

So I think B is better, especially with having 2 up your sleeve

    De gea, Foster
    TAA, Cancelo, Davies, Cash, White,
Jota, Bruno, Bowen, Maddison, Douglas Luiz,
    Maupay, CR7, King
    Bank: 0.6m, FT: 2

Looking for the best options for gw 26. i am thinking to take FH on gw 27

    A. Maddison, CR7, Maupay -> Son, Lacazette, Jiminez (343)
    B. Maddison, CR7, Maupay -> Saka, Kane, Jiminez (343)
    C. Maddison, Douglas Luiz, CR7, Maupay-> Son, Saka, Jiminez, Rodriguez/aye (352)

A & B are -8 but C is -12. anyway cancelo is in my bench.

A is best, but I'm having second thoughts about Son myself.
You could possibly just do CR7 + Maupay to Laca + Jimi for a -4

Have the exact cash for Keane -> Tierney - price movements look a while off but given there appears to be random ones would you just do it now to avoid potentially missing out?

    Ramsdale, DDG
    Trent, Cancelo, Dawson, Lamptey, Keane*
    Salah, Bruno, Jota, Bowen, Brownhill
    Antonio, King, Dennis

    Bank 0.3m, 2FTs

    Ramsdale
    TAA Robbo Cancelo
    Jota Son Foden Bowen Coutinho
    Dennis Watkins
    Lloris Antonio Cash Johnson

How does this look? Im most likely gonna TC Trent.

    Jota + Foden + Watkins + Antonio > Salah + Saka + Weghorst + Broja (-8)

Salah in and a striker in for Ronaldo this week as well as DDG-> Ramsdale -4.
Which looks best in these situations?
    1. Remove- A. Foden or B. Raphinha for Salah?
    2. Buy- A. Jimenez B. Weghorst or C. Broja?
FH 27, WC after 30. Probably will not FH in 30.

    DDG.
    TAA, Cancelo, Tierney.
    Raphinha, Foden, Jota, Bowen.
    Ronaldo, King, Antonio.
    Bach, Laporte, Ramsey, Dalot.
    2ft, 3.9m ITB.
    2 FH's, TC left.

Bench boost or TC Salah with the herd? (quite keen on bench boost as no wildcard and need to streamline squad)

    Sa*
    TAA*/Davies*/Cancelo
    Salah(c)*/Bruno/Bowen/Foden/Jota*
    King*/Dennis*

    DDG/Maupay/Cucurella/Coufal

    * = double gameweek
