We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a weekday series that serves non-Premier League matchdays and days when we don’t bring you a team news/press conference round-up.

MAN UTD V BRIGHTON: DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 25 TEAM NEWS

There weren’t any fresh fitness concerns reported by either Ralf Rangnick or Graham Potter ahead of the final match of Double Gameweek 25 on Tuesday.

Edinson Cavani (£8.4m) won’t recover from a groin injury in time to face the Seagulls, which may bode well for Cristiano Ronaldo‘s (£12.5m) prospects of being handed successive starts in the league.

“Fred will be available again. He’ll also be part of the group for tomorrow. Edinson is still out, the same with Nema [Matic]. The rest is, well, Alex [Telles] is back again in the squad and already was part of the group for the Southampton game and he will also be available.” – Ralf Rangnick

Potter has the same squad available to him as he did on Saturday, with no-one returning and Lewis Dunk‘s (£4.8m) knee strapping not a hindrance to him playing.

“We will be as we were ahead of the Watford game. Enock Mwepu isn’t far away from being available. Jeremy Sarmiento’s rehab is going well so he’s getting closer. Lewis Dunk has been fine, he has trained well and recovered well. He’s in a good place.” – Graham Potter

GREALISH OUT

Jack Grealish (£7.5m) won’t shake off a recurring shin injury in time to face Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night, although his manager said he was “better” when facing the media on Monday.

“He is better, but for tomorrow he is not available alongside Cole Palmer and Gabriel [Jesus].” – Pep Guardiola

That prognosis could mean anything in Pep-speak and should Grealish and Gabriel Jesus (£8.5m) again miss out in Gameweek 26, the competition for places in the attacking trident is much less fierce and potentially bodes well for Phil Foden (£8.0m) et al against Spurs.

TRIPPIER FRACTURES FOOT

No sooner had the returning Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) made his mark on FPL again than he is sidelined for weeks, potentially months after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his foot.

The defender had registered two goals, one clean sheet and 27 points in four matches for Newcastle but limped out of the match against Aston Villa on Saturday.

“Trippier underwent an X-ray immediately after the game and scans have shown a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Everyone at the club wishes Kieran a speedy recovery.” – Newcastle club statement

Likely deputy Javier Manquillo (£3.9m) would have been one for the watchlist for the run-in but he too sustained an ankle ligament injury in Gameweek 25 and assessment is ongoing on him.

Is Raphinha ( tough double and out of form) to Saka ( decent fixtures and blank in 27 not an issue as playing first free hit) worth an additional hit?

Even as a utd fan I know the utd game for leeds is not a difficult fixture , a 3 rating for the fixture at most. 'Pool is the more difficult, however, their defense is not rock solid( as the burnley+palace games showed) so raphinha definitely has a chance for returns in both imo

I am buying Saka so will have 3 liverpool and 3 arsenal so a fh in gw 27 is a must for me.

If there are just one more game goes ahead as I have Broja I will dead end my team in 30 and will WC in 31 or 32. Use the other fh in 33

That's the plan at the moment

27 and 33 for me. 30 will be a low scoring week with only 3 games on and I'll have enough Arsenal, Villa and Wolves assets to see it out

      27 and 30.

I'm mystified as to why people are trying their hardest not to FH in 27. It is a very clear FH week for me. You capitalize the hardest on Liverpool and Arsenal who have the best fixtures in GW26 by leaning hard into FH27 and they even have decent fixtures out of it too in GW28 especially Arsenal.

Camzy I'd be interested to know what you think of the potential for FH30.

It seems to make perfect sense that the bigger the blank, the more useful the FH, but that's not necessarily the case. I think you need enough teams to blank to make it worthwhile by being able to jump on low ownership players with good fixtures, but sometimes the blank can be so big as to devalue the FH.

As House Frey mentions above if, for example, you only had three games comprising a combination of bad teams and teams from which everyone will own 1-2 assets (like Arsenal) you might be looking at an average of say 35 points from a FH, compared to perhaps 20 without.

I think it's human nature to want to avoid a big red arrow in a single week, I just wonder if the points missed in 30 could be recovered with interest in a DGW.

      3. bench boost for every gamew…
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

it is team dependant, but at the same time, i agree with you in some degree and for me it is that Burnley double could be a very strong weapon if you play your cards right, and City assets can be picked without future worries (and tbf if Grealish and Jesus is still injury doubts it makes the likes of Mahrez/Sterling etc more viable choices in that gw). and as you say Liverpool and arsenal in particular have nice games to come in 28 and possibly double as well. i made a draft where im going all crazy on Burnley defense, two City attackers and Laporte instead of Cancelo because Everton cant defend set pieces, and can still have both Kane and Ronaldo, etc.
What makes people not FH could be because a lot of players they own also have good fixtures on paper and if you have only one FH left i can see why you might want not to use it in 27

I am stuck between bench boost and triple captain on Salah. Which do you prefer?

Bench would be: Sanchez (BUR), Digne (WAT), Ramsey (WAT), Watkins (WAT)

Villa's form is a concern but surely I won't get a better chance to play either of these chips?

Have a similar team and preparing for a -8 to sell Foden for Saka (have Kane instead of Antonio up front and cheap mid) and to also upgrade DDG to Ramsdale or Sa.

      Will FH in 27.

Think the keeper hit is worth it as DDG's fixtures go bad from 28-32 and the points projected by Ramsdale/Sa will easily outscore anything DDG or Foster will get to make the hit worthwhile. They have better fixtures and at least 2 games more than DDG from 26 to 32 notwithstanding FH27.

very good chance Salah will be benched in one of the DGW games..waste of a chip imo.

16th - CL match against Inter
    19th - Norwich
    23rd - Leeds
    27th - Chelsea cup final

good chance he will be rested..same goes for Trent.

He can easily score a brace in either of those games, which probably returns 15-16pts before whatever he gets off the bench in the other. I'll take that all day from a TC.

The guy definitely looked in need of some R&R at the weekend and Liverpool proved while he was away in Africa that they can do pretty well without him. I think he starts from the bench against Norwich.

Hmm, I’m not sure. I do think he starts both, but those games are as easy as it gets in EPL and Klopp suddenly has genuine options. As I say, I think he’ll play both, but it’s not as certain as it would have been a year ago

      2. :
        • 10 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

Agreed, but if they can't beat Norwich without him they've no chance of winning it anyway. They might just need to freshen him up just a little right now to possibly prevent him from going stale on the run in.

If Salah returns at least 10 points from both games whatever his minutes are, it wouldn't be a waste of playing the TC chip

    7. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 1 month ago

well if you think you get a player with better fixtures later then you dont tc. basing your decisions on fixture schedule with Salah, not sure that is the best thing. And Inter Milan is worse than Milan as pr the table in serie a, which means Liverpool could be 3-0 up at halftime and Salah gets 60 minutes or just strolling around for last half hour. Liverpool still within the hope of title in the league

you also betting on another player for a top team with a double that must fall good. and people seems to have alter their judgements based on Burnley game, its like comparing apples and pears. pros for not tc is perhaps his fpl output since gw 14 which is not great.

G'day all. Feel stuck here. 2ft, all chips in hand. Do not really want to FH27, and have 1x ARS and 3x Pool already. Will probably wc28 and FH30 and 33 or big dgw.

    Foster*
    TAA* White* Cancelo Laporte
    Salah* Jota* Bowen Foden
    Dennis* CR7
    DDG Gallagher Broja Livra

    A) 1st thought was CR7 & Foden to Jimenez & Son
    B) CR7 & Livra to Laca & Tierney, FH27

Cancelo single GW or Davinson Sanchez DGW???

Those 12 and 15 pointers from Sanchez in past 9 GW's are tempting me, plus think Spurs will score at City.

Am I foolish?? High OR, play it safe or try differential?

      Cancelo.

DGWs are overrated imo and can’t see Sanchez keeping a clean sheet v City, that’s if he even starts!

100% Cancelo. Sanchez could easily be 0 points in the first game anyway

I have Cancelo & Dier and I’m leaning towards Cancelo.

What will be Spurs back three when Dier is back. I'm presuming Davies makes way?

Jusr read the headlines from Wolves and see that Sanchez was brutal. Mind made up 🙂

Sanchez was really poor the last couple games so I think its pretty close between him / Davies (who wasnt all that much better tbf)

Sanchez is not a good defender.

I'd play Cancelo in a single over Sanchez on a double

wc when team needs it. if you can survive till 35, then wc35 and bb36 is an option

    Laca for the double?

I'm tempted as could be a great differential, but form of strikers is so patchy I'm not sure it's worth it, especially with the blank next game week

I agree. He's a decent option and the last time I owned him he got me 16 points in 2 games.

    Ramsdale - DDG
    TAA - Tierney - Cancelo - Digne - Coufal
    Jota - Bruno - Bowen - Foden - Gray
    Watkins - Dennis - King

Best option below? Planning to FH GW27

    A) Bruno > Salah

    B) Bruno & Gray > Salah & Saka (-4)

    C) Bruno, Foden & Coufal > Salah, Son & White (-8)

    C) Bruno, Gray & Coufal > Salah, Saka & Saiss (-8)

    A. Cornet & Broja
    or
    B. Ramsey & Weghorst

I'd like one Burnley attacker to cover the 4 games in the next two GWs.

      or Trent TC

Wouldnt personally mind betting against Salah TC but I would really feel stupid if he gets a mega haul considering the fixtures are NOR and LEE.

    Sa
    TAA Tierney Coady

If you have the funds, upgrade Coady to Saiss as he has more goal threat

Which of one of each these would you go for? Bearing in mind any Arsenal players will force me into FH27....

Currently sitting on Ramsdale, Tierney or Saka.

On a freehit in DGW 26 and I'm torn between picking Robbo and Saiss or Vvd and Semedo...... budget not an issue. Also how insane would it be leave out Bowen and Cancelo in favour of Zaha and the aforementioned Saiss?
