We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a weekday series that serves non-Premier League matchdays and days when we don’t bring you a team news/press conference round-up.

MAN UTD V BRIGHTON: DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 25 TEAM NEWS

There weren’t any fresh fitness concerns reported by either Ralf Rangnick or Graham Potter ahead of the final match of Double Gameweek 25 on Tuesday.

Edinson Cavani (£8.4m) won’t recover from a groin injury in time to face the Seagulls, which may bode well for Cristiano Ronaldo‘s (£12.5m) prospects of being handed successive starts in the league.

“Fred will be available again. He’ll also be part of the group for tomorrow. Edinson is still out, the same with Nema [Matic]. The rest is, well, Alex [Telles] is back again in the squad and already was part of the group for the Southampton game and he will also be available.” – Ralf Rangnick

Potter has the same squad available to him as he did on Saturday, with no-one returning and Lewis Dunk‘s (£4.8m) knee strapping not a hindrance to him playing.

“We will be as we were ahead of the Watford game. Enock Mwepu isn’t far away from being available. Jeremy Sarmiento’s rehab is going well so he’s getting closer. Lewis Dunk has been fine, he has trained well and recovered well. He’s in a good place.” – Graham Potter

GREALISH OUT

Jack Grealish (£7.5m) won’t shake off a recurring shin injury in time to face Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night, although his manager said he was “better” when facing the media on Monday.

“He is better, but for tomorrow he is not available alongside Cole Palmer and Gabriel [Jesus].” – Pep Guardiola

That prognosis could mean anything in Pep-speak and should Grealish and Gabriel Jesus (£8.5m) again miss out in Gameweek 26, the competition for places in the attacking trident is much less fierce and potentially bodes well for Phil Foden (£8.0m) et al against Spurs.

TRIPPIER FRACTURES FOOT

No sooner had the returning Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) made his mark on FPL again than he is sidelined for weeks, potentially months after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his foot.

The defender had registered two goals, one clean sheet and 27 points in four matches for Newcastle but limped out of the match against Aston Villa on Saturday.

“Trippier underwent an X-ray immediately after the game and scans have shown a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Everyone at the club wishes Kieran a speedy recovery.” – Newcastle club statement

Likely deputy Javier Manquillo (£3.9m) would have been one for the watchlist for the run-in but he too sustained an ankle ligament injury in Gameweek 25 and assessment is ongoing on him.

Anyone worth another hit here? perhaps for Jimenez? (already taken a -4)

    Sa
    TAA, Robertson, Cancelo,
Saka, KDB, Salah (TC), Bowen, Ramsey
    Antonio

    4.0, Davies, King, Dalot.

Not sure you need a -8, but I suppose your -4 becomes a -2. Yeah, I'd consider Antonio to Jimenez.

Who to bring in to fund Salah:

    A) Zaha (9 doublers)
    B) Coutinho (8 doublers)
    C) Raphinha (9 doublers)

Without the double, Coutinho's obvious, but, well, I've been burnt but I still love a double...

    Who to sell for Saka:
    Mahrez or Maddison?

If I sell Mahrez the banked cash allows Dalot > James/Rudiger in GW28.

Presuming Weghorst is fit, play him over one of Bowen or Jacob Ramsey? Even with a double, I'm not sure about Weghorst for this double (27 looks better). Bowen v Newcastle at home, Ramsey v Watford at home. I'm tempted to leave Weghorst on the bench this time.
    Thoughts?

I’ve brought him in on WC but despite the double is currently first bench. Have JWP, Bowen & Coutinhio starting ahead of him. I think all 3 have great home fixtures. I’m 27 Wout could be a captain shout if he passes his audition during double 26

Tempted to bench boost instead (as a differential!)

With 9 double-gamers, bench is DDG, Broja, Cancelo, Digne

  9. Karan_G14

    Gunn
    TAA Cancelo Digne
    Bruno Jota Foden Raphinha Bowen
    Ronaldo King

    (DDG Broja Dier Livra)
    2 FTs & 1.4m

OUT: Ronaldo, Bruno, Foden & Gunn -8

    A) Kane, Salah, Saka & Ramsdale
    B) Jiminez, Salah, Son & Ramsdale

If A will probably use FH in GW27 as ill have 3 Pool, Saka & Livra not playing.
If B will save FH and field 11 starters in GW27 getting Weghorst & Coutinho for King & Jota for a hit. (Still no City or United for GW27 though)

    Thoughts?

    1. AARON-1
      • 4 Years

Option A is better. Free Hit 27 is a common plan. The Spurs game v City doesn't promise much for Kane or Son but at least Kane is on pens, he is therefore the better option in a game where they will probably be feeding off scraps. I prefer Saka's two games over Jimenez's, too.

        Interesting!
Is Foden to Saka worth -4 though?
I could just start Foden (TOT) or Broja (EVE) and take -4 for Kane, Salah & Ramsdale.

Isn't it kinda silly that the FA or whoever decides this, didn't put the MU match earlier in the day, considering there's 2 CL matches playing at the same time as the MU match?

I may ride it out until gw31 as I'm navigating my team through 30 and not using FH. So my priority is setting up a team for that.

James would be my first thought to come in followed by Mount (or Rudiger/Alonso if Chelsea look tidy defensively)

      1. Dammit_182
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 2 months ago

I’m on WC currently so only want Ramsdale + 3 from arsenal/pool/Chelsea (3 pool basically). If there is a double in 28 picking up a defender might be the play then from 31 get a few more in if looking good.

Like the idea of not piling in until we know what they are like!

        1. House Frey Wedding Planner
          • 7 Years

Chelsea can blow hot or cold defensively. Double/Triple Chelsea defence was essential earlier on in the season on a run of games not too dissimilar to those coming up. After the Chilwell injury they were frustrating to own and not keeping clean sheets.

The potential double in 28 would negate the blank in 30 (unless you FH in 30 in which case it wouldn't matter). It would be a good move to bring in one Chelsea player now (James if fit) and use gw28, 29 and the cup/euro games to assess the rest of the squad to see who is worth doubling up on by gw31

Just a +4 - (Ronaldo + Trossard for Salah and Broja) looks nice for next week but had a shocker this week!

Why can't the PL announce an Arsenal DGW 28 so I know for sure that I will FH in 27?

So there are no issue to be announce then...

The problem with filling your team with Liverpool and Arsenal is you will end up with no players for the following gameweek!

What are peoples plans for the coming blanks? I am thinking may be even FH next week...

I have 2 FHs so definitely considering using one for GW27.

I have decided to free hit wk26 and probably keep previous team for week27 and then either WC or just a couple of transfers not sure about the latter

If you still have wildcard and both FH then I think free hitting this week is a very valid strategy...although it all depends on state of your team

        1. Bikerz

Reason being that I think a lot of managers will take several hits just to field doublers and if you captain salah on a free hit with 11 well differentiated doublers, upside could be very good even against the Salah TC.

That's what I was going to do as my current team has not got Salah in , so don't have to worry about him the following week.
            Cheers for your feedback

Bench of Ramsdale, Trent, White, Salah. Get rid of Jota. Hopefully 10-11 players will be possible without hits.

That's why I've avoided Arsenal for GW26, just 3 Liverpool to bench for GW27 and should get 11 playing. Might live to regret it though ...

      I'm FH in 27.

Arsenal have a good double gameweek that's worth attacking, good fixtures coming up, they play in bgw30 and could potentially have a double in 28 as well.

FH in 27 negates the blank for Arsenal & Liverpool and still allows you to hold onto their assets going forward

Plz any thoughts on this freehit team? Maybe something you'd do differently?

If Weghorst is fit would you do

    Ronaldo to

    A) Weghorst
    B) Kane

Kane, i know he has 4 fixtures but Burnely really dont score much and Spurs have Burnley and leeds in that window.

      B. For the fun of saying "why did i bring him in for"
      A. For 2 weeks of dgws and differential choice if fit

Few options this week as i have all chips let still:

    A) DDG > Ramsdale for 3 Liverpool and 2 Arsenal and FH 27
    B) Archer > Broja and Salah > Son/Bruno in FH 27 for 10 players

I like A as i am worried that i may start to run out of opoprtunities to use all my chips with them all still intact (Salah will be TC this week most likely). With B the trade off is one extra player in FH27 and 2 x Ramsdale this week vs 1 x DDG which is a move i will want to do anyway so sets me up post GW27. Also no Salah hockey-kokey.

If not using FH in 27, should I just ignore Laca and bring in Jimi/Weghorst/someone else? or is Laca still best option

    1. Arfaish
      • 13 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

As long as you can field 11 in 27 then Laca is still the best option. Jimi still not at it and i dont trust Burnley

Jimi is better than Laca double or no double IMO.

    -12 is excessive but fun
Out: DDG, Martinelli, Jota, Bruno, Ronaldo
In: Pope, Saka, Salah, Cornet, Kane
