Eight top-flight teams are due to play twice in Double Gameweek 26 and we’ll be running down a position-by-position guide to the pick of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options in each position, whether you’re using a Free Hit or even just free transfers.

Just over 10% of Fantasy Football Scout users have said they are planning to activate their Free Hit, making it the second-most popular chip option.

All stats taken from this article are from our Premium Members Area.

AARON RAMSDALE

Cornet and Smith Rowe 1

Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) has been in fine form for Arsenal this season, keeping 11 clean sheets and conceding just 16 goals across his 19 Premier League outings.

It’s also worth noting that since making his debut in Gameweek 4, the England international is averaging 5.3 points per match, more than any other goalkeeper who has made more than one appearance.

His +5.20 expected goals prevented (xGP) tally is another league-leading figure, as are his 12 bonus points.

Above: Goalkeepers ranked by xGP 2021/22, with Aaron Ramsdale’s +5.20 total a league-leading figure

Now, Ramsdale will be keen to build on that in back-to-back home games against Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Notably, both sides rank in the bottom half for expected goals (xG) on the road this season, which suggests Ramsdale could be an excellent option between the sticks in Double Gameweek 26.

JOSE SA

The best FPL goalkeepers for a Gameweek 4 Wildcard 1

Jose Sa (£5.2m) is enjoying a superb season at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has quietly kept nine clean sheets in 23 appearances, averaging 4.7 points per match.

During that time, he has saved 81.7% of shots faced, with his save count of 78 only bettered by David de Gea (£5.3m), Illan Meslier (£4.8m) and Kasper Schmeichel (£4.8m).

Above: Goalkeepers who have featured for a minimum of 500 minutes ranked by save percentage 2021/22, with Jose Sa’s 81.7% total a league-leading figure

Wolves’ double-header is far from straightforward, with fixtures against Leicester City and Arsenal, who rank sixth and seventh respectively for actual goals scored.

However, their standout strength under Bruno Lage has been their watertight defence. Across the season so far, their 17 goals conceded is bettered only by Manchester City, while no other side in the division has conceded fewer goals from open play.

Their recent form is encouraging, too, and they have lost just one of their last seven Premier League matches. Wolves have kept an impressive four clean sheets during that time, despite a tricky schedule which has included games against Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

VICENTE GUAITA

Gallagher the most-bought FPL player of Gameweek 12 after latest haul 1

Vicente Guaita’s (£4.6m) Double Gameweek 26 prospects are dampened a little by the first of Crystal Palace’s fixtures against Chelsea, given that Thomas Tuchel’s side have scored in all but two of their 12 Premier League away matches this term.

However, there is potential for a clean sheet against Watford, with the Hornets failing to score in any of their three matches under Roy Hodgson.

Beyond that, the Spaniard impressed at Brentford in Gameweek 25, keeping his sixth clean sheet of the campaign, whilst the Eagles’ underlying numbers also stand out, as they rank fifth for fewest expected goals conceded (xGC) in 2021/22.

The issue is that compared to those detailed above, he doesn’t make enough saves, with his total of 57 bettered by 13 other goalkeepers this season. As a result, it’s hard to put him ahead of Ramsdale and Sa in Double Gameweek 26.

BEN FOSTER

FPL Gameweek 13 round-up: Sunday review, injury news and the things we learned 1

If funds are tighter, Ben Foster (£4.1m) is the cheapest goalkeeper available who should at least play twice in Double Gameweek 26.

Watford aren’t exactly in stellar defensive form with just one clean sheet across the entire season so far, though it did arrive in Roy Hodgson’s first match in charge, as they shut out Burnley at Turf Moor.

Their two fixtures also carry some clean sheet potential, with Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side looking well off the pace in recent matches, and Crystal Palace managing just two goals across their last six away trips.

The main concern is that Hodgson turns to a more attacking shape in a bid to produce some goals, though his comments from the weekend that he and his side were too “gung-ho” in their attempts to peg Brighton and Hove Albion back, suggests otherwise.

NICK POPE

Following his recent Double Gameweek 23 heroics, when he racked up 19 points across two matches against Arsenal and Watford, Nick Pope (£5.4m) now becomes an option for another Burnley double-header.

After a shaky start to the campaign, the Clarets have shown signs of their old defensive resilience of late, with four clean sheets in their last nine Premier League matches, while they have also restricted Liverpool and Manchester United to just one goal apiece.

Pope’s own personal form has improved significantly too, averaging 6.2 points per match across his last six starts.

Burnley’s style of play – low pass completion among defenders, few goals scored at the other end – also works to Pope’s advantage on the Bonus Points System (BPS).

In terms of their fixtures, their first match against Brighton is the more appealing of the two, with the Seagulls scoring just 10 goals at the Amex all season.

THE OTHER CANDIDATES

The latest on Alexander-Arnold's illness as Klopp talks up future rotation

Alisson (£6.0m) and Liverpool have the best set of fixtures on offer in Double Gameweek 26, though if you are keen on a defensive double-up, pairing Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) with Andrew Robertson (£7.1m) is surely the way to go, especially given the Scot’s recent form.

Elsewhere, Hugo Lloris (£5.4m) has kept five clean sheets since the arrival of Antonio Conte, though Tottenham Hotspur have now lost five of their last eight matches in all competitions. They have also looked particularly vulnerable in their last two games against Southampton and Wolves, while there are cheaper options available in their backline, like Ben Davies (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£4.6m) and Cristian Romero (£4.8m).

Illan Meslier (£4.8m), meanwhile, will surely be relying on saves to boost his points tally, given that Leeds United take on Manchester United and Liverpool.

Of the single Gameweek options, Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) and David de Gea (£5.3m) have appealing match-ups, though if activating the Free Hit chip, it makes sense to prioritise those playing twice.

Be interesting what the average gain from playing the free hit will be compared to Salah TC.

Problem with the FH is, who are your differentials? I would imagine most with have 6+ DGWers and good single gwers like Bowen and Cancelo. If you try and differentiate from the template then there's a chance non FH team actually outscore your FH

Lacazette, Jimenez, Cornet, Tierney and Wolves defense have pretty good differential potential though.

For me it wasn't about differentials, it was that I figured my team was best suited to playing 25 and 27 but I'd have needed hits to get any decent amount of DGW players out, and still used the FH in 27.

I'm going to have to find some differentials for sure. But with 2xBrighton, 2xUnited, no Salah, only White from Arsenal and the same old Antonio and Dennis problem most have (albeit the latter does double) I'm confident I score more than my current mess with an extra helping of Salah captain points.

irrelevant comparison - I'd argue free hit should ALWAYS outscore a TC.

The valid comparison is between a TC this week vs a TC in another week

      OR

FH this week vs FH in another week.

      1. fusen

Except that isn't how chips are played. Each team needs to decide on which chip is appropriately the 'best' choice in any given week. This double (on paper) represents the best gameweek for the TC chip, so it'll be what Salah scores Vs the average gain from people who decided to FH.

There is also absolutely no guarantee the average point difference between the two will be big or which way it'll actually go. It's very easy to have a freehit team that does worse than your normal team

very true. Bench Boost - should net you between 12-30 points and TC should net you 5-20 points, Free hit could be anything from -15 to +50 points

    Thoughts on FH team:

    Pope (3.9)

Robbo - TAA - Tierney (Semedo - Bednarak)

    Cornet - Salah (C) - Saka - Zaha (Ramsey)

    Kane - Laca - Jimmy

My only potential thoughts are trying to fit Son in, and potentially Ramsdale and lose Laca.

    Salah Bowen Mahrez Foden Ramsey

    Would you do:
    1. Mahrez + Dalot to Saka + Saiss (keep same starting team)
    2. Mahrez + Idah to Saka + Weghorst ( bench Dalot)
    3. All three for a -4 and bench (Ramsey)

First FH chip activated. Want Coutinho and Bowen cause they have good sgw games. I am not the happiest with that attack but went with Son so dont want to doble up with Kane and Dennis at least has two games. Also can always downgrade that bench. Any changes and suggestions?

Same here. Wanted to go double pool defence but games are too good even with one Jota benching bit the guy is in great form...so rather went with douboe ars who has a little tougher games on paper bit hopefully they can also keep both cs.

Who else? Turst him more then Jimmy, he is also very bad this season and all sgw players are boring. If only spurs look a little better...

That's fair. Jimenez has a bit of form though at least and his first game is up against one of the worst defences in the league, and he has a nice run from GW28 as well as a GW30 fixture so he's not a bad option

          1. iL PiStOlErO
            • 6 Years

I know but I am on FH so need to maximize this week. Even with thaz form Dennis has better fixtures and AV and CP defences are very leaky. Also he is nice differential and mids should do majority of job.

I'm using BB myself but I'm definitely hoping I'll be able to hold onto one FH for DGW36. Definitely think there's good scope for FHers this week though, I'm sure the vast majority will TC (and thar vast majority on Salah) but sometimes this is a nice part of the season where strategies can diverge quite a bit

    1. Lilac Breasted Roller
      • 8 Years

I've got a decent enough team for BB as well, just wondering when I'd TC instead

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 11 months ago

The way I'm looking at it is there are 13 games still to be rescheduled and there will be more once the next FA Cup round is done and the GW30 fixtures are confirmed, so there'll still be opportunities. But you're right, it's a risk not using it now as it's a great time for it. For now I'm well set up for BB so I'm happy to go with that and hope to gain from it while still having TC (which is a much more straightforward chip to use) up my sleeve

      2. Black Knights
        • 13 Years

We've seen from Bowen and Bruno that someone can get 20+ at any point.

I'm also using BB this week, knowing that we'll get a spicy enough double to hopefully get a good TC score from it. Kind of pretending to myself that Salah might play limited minutes v either Norwich or Leeds (or both) with them playing CL and League Cup final around them. Plus only 1 goal in 5 games anyway, so hardly as hot as he was pre-Crimbo.

Looking to move Silva + Ronaldo to Salah + Broja this week. Is Antonio to Jiménez (or anything else) worth a hit?

After free transfers I’ll have 1.9 ITB and 7 DGWers, not planning to FH in 27.

    Foster // Sánchez
Trent Cancelo Reguilón // Coufal Livramento
    Salah(TC) Jota Foden Bowen Raphinha

Yes for the first move, wouldn't go for the hit. None of the forward options are convincing really or likely to make up for the hit cost, you may find yourself trying to transfer in someone else the GW after

    Am I g2g?
    Play Maupay for someone?

The XI looks very good (plans for GW27). Might swap Maupay for Raph, but that's it.

I wouldn't BB. There will be stronger BB GWs later in the season.

      1. OleGGMU
        • 7 Years

Cheers mate for the reply , really appreciate it. Initially I had Maupay in the XI over Coady purely due to liking to favor attack over defense but the current form (or rather lack thereof) for strikers in the PL has been terrible apart from the broja's ASM'S and Maupays of the PL.
GW27 might see Jota leave for Coutinho and maybe if dgw26 goes well I might be tempted to shaft a def for Rudiger (-4) to have def sorted ahead of chelsea's proper return to the PL.
FHGW30+GW33 and use last chip (either BB or TC) for dgw36 should it occur as rumored

Wondering the same thing myself. Before this week was set on Bruno to son. Spurs just seem to inconsistent at the moment and its not exactly an ideal double. Won’t be surprised to see them score 1/2 goals across both games.

Now thinking keane to tierney is probably the better move for me.

Yeah, Leeds looks ripe for a 7-0

It would stink to get a Son assist and miss Bruno's 2 goals and 3 assists on vulnerable Leeds

I just don't see TS getting much past MCI and Burnley at home is not exactly easy (see Liverpool this past week).

    DdG* / Sanchez(*)

TC Salah, Bruno, Jota, Bowen, Ramsey
    DCL*, Dennis / Pedro*

    1.5 itb, 1 ft, 1 FH, 1 BB, 1 TC left

    A) DdG to Pope
    B) Sanchez to Pope
    C) Bruno out for dgw player (-4)
    D) Reguillon to Tierney
    D) something clever long term
    E) something punty?

Hi, all, which Arsenal player are you picking as a priority out of Saka or Ramsdale?

I'll have both by GW29 but which one would you prioritise for DGW26 & GW28?

I'm really torn on it, Arsenal don't score a lot of goals under Arteta but Saka will be involved if they come but Ramsdale is so reliable

    1. Karan_G14
      • 9 Years

I think I’m prioritising Ramsdale more.

I'm going for Son + Saka/Ramsdale, that Leeds game the following week could be Captainable for Son, not sure I'd have the guts to C Kane right now.

Gut feeling says Ramsdale too because Arsenal are more likely to win 1 nil than 4 nil, just feels a little boring.

Pope has two consecutive dgw:s and more fixtures to play than other assets. I am edging towards Pope over Ramsdale. With only one FH I simply can't get Saka for 2x -4 🙁
