Help us hit 5,000 players this weekend so we can give away more prizes.

Last week was a new record as just under 4,500 of you entered to compete for the usual 10 great cards given to us courtesy of Sorare each week.

That’s awesome – although what is slightly less awesome is that the increased traffic of people adding and checking teams has knocked the Academy servers for six in the last couple of weeks! Apologies to those who had trouble accessing the site in this time.

We’ve now made an upgrade to the servers to cope with increased traffic, and we are monitoring to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. Hopefully this means we can breach that 5,000-player barrier this time – and if we do, we will be able to share an additional five card rewards with the players!

Enter a team now and help us get there – get started here. It only takes a few minutes and it’s totally free.

Let’s look at last week’s winner and then turn our attention to the upcoming tournament.

Our Winner

Always.

Captain.

Salah.

It doesn’t seem to matter what the game is, just consider the Egyptian for the armband most weeks. RazeKyl, our winner from last week, is following this philosophy and it has paid off handsomely for them, just as it did for the Triple Captainers in FPL last weekend.

Outside of that, though, there are some more interesting picks and I can totally see why RazeKyl ran out a deserving winner here – they’ve gone for the time-honoured tactic of just picking players in good form with a favourable fixture.

For starters, he racked up five goals between Messrs Salah, Lewandowski and Nkunku. Christopher Nkunku and Sven Botman are very talented – it’s well worth remembering the names. One of the coolest things about Sorare is discovering talent that many will not know about. If they come to the Premier League eventually, you have a head start on your new player scouting.

Entering a team for this week!

It’s really easy to play, and to make it even easier, I’ll share some team selection thoughts for the weekend.

Fixtures

Just like FPL, I tend to start with a look at the fixtures. I have a tool on my website for this:

The green column on the right is the algorithm’s prediction of the team’s chances of winning. Lots of big hitting options there. PSG should provide some good options. St Etienne have been doing better lately but still have not kept a clean sheet in 3 games.

Even though Sorare does not have full rights to the EPL yet (That may change!) there are still plenty of Manchester City assets available for selection as they face relegation threatened Everton.

Bayern are just scoring an insane number of goals, so forward assets will be popular. They aren’t keeping too many clean sheets lately, though.

And we all know about Liverpool.

For a relative differential or two we may go to Villarreal or Bayer Leverkusen

Form

Raiding Manchester City assets Kevin De Bruyne looks too tempting to ignore. His consistent goal/assist output is being rewarded and he has an average over the last five matches of 76 (out of 100).

Kylian Mbappe or Lionel Messi will be popular picks no doubt, and it looks risky to ignore both! I’ll keep an eye on team news but I’ll go for Messi. Likewise, safe as it may be, it’s hard to ignore Robert Lewandowski in his form with Bayern on a kind fixture.

I will deviate a bit from my comment about Bayern’s lack of clean sheets to include Niklas Sule. The reason is that clean sheets are not everything for a defender on Sorare. He makes a really solid overall contribution and it shows in his average score of 71 in the last five matches – and that’s with Bayern rarely recording a shutout.

And between the sticks, let’s go with Geronimo Rulli of Villarreal as they face Espanyol.

Captain… Messi.

The Final Cut

Here is my line up for the weekend:

Good luck with your teams for the weekend and remember the Friday deadline at 11:00am UK time.

And share the league with your friends so we can hit 5,000 players and give away five more prizes!

    Would you FH this? 1ft

    Sanchez
    Veltman Cancelo Saiss
    Ramsey Bowen Raphinha
    Broja Kane Jimenez

On paper its 10 players, but lots playing against each other and no Burnley or City/United + Son in attack...

Just get a BUR defender/keeper for that BRI double and get one City mid and you gtg. No Son but you have Kane.

Is Adams or Broja the better Southampton pick and why? On WC and have just enough to build my ideal team with Adams. Is he worth getting, considering his recent form, or is there anything I’m missing?

If building long-term I'd prefer Broja, Adams is in a nice vein of form but it's hard to know how long that'll last. While Broja hasn't had massive returns of late, he's 3rd for most shots on target in the last 4 GWs and could have had 3 or 4 goals against Spurs alone if he didn't shoot so wildly. Long-term of course the extra funds will help you too. If short-term I would punt on Adams but Broja should be a good long-term option

Long term Broja for me. Still got decent stats even though he hasn't got the attacking returns compared to Adams in recent games. 1.5m saving swings it for me

      Team,

      DDG
      Cancelo, Sanchez, Digne,
      Zaha, Bowen, Bruno, Gallagher,
      Weghurt, Dennis, Maupay,

    Current 11:
    DDG
    Cancelo - Digne - Dalot - Coufal
    Foden - D Luiz - Bowen
    Kane - Weghorst - King

    1FT - 2m itb

    Best Option:
    A) Save FT
    B) Coufal/Dalot to Saiss
    C) King to Broja

I'm leaning to C, most potential upside, nice fixtures, and just hope that Coufal and Dalot come back into their starting 11s for the weekend.

It's an interesting thought. For me, Weghorst looks very good value with a DGW, and that enables me to have a XI that looks good all over the pitch. With your TV though maybe this works, because that midfield looks very strong (although personally I'm sceptical about a MUtd double up; I think Watford might be stubborn)

    4. Tonyawesome69

I'm primarily going with Burnley def in Tark/Mee due to number of headed chances CRY and LEI have conceded, not necessarily for their CS potential.

Oh my god, this is exactly the same draft I made one hour ago! I thought about ignoring Weghorst and roll the dice with defence. I also liked team with Kane Adams Broja up front but it's hard to drop any of those midfielders, as I'm almost convinced 3-5-2 is the strongest formation for GW28. De Bruyne vs Sterling is a tough dilemma as well, only Mahrez is penciled in for now.

If I have two FHs, should I see two FHs button on FPL or does the "one" FH just appear again after the one two gws (incl. the one where I used FH and the one where I cannot use it, back to back)?

I have not used any FHs, if I am right (:D), but it seems confusing seeing only button to click.

Hi Guys, my brain is completely frazzled and i'm hoping for some advice for what to do with this lot.

    Foster
    Coufal* Reguilon* Lowton* Cancelo
    Bruno Bowen Raphinha
    King Broja

These are the players I have available this week which I can patch up with a -4, but my main concern is the following week where my team is going to be in a pretty poor position and i'll need to take a -8 or -12 to get it back to being competitive.

I have 2x FH 1x BB and my wildcard but i'm unsure when to play...what strategy are people in my position going with?

I went against Gwk 26 triple captainers by using a FH and now I have one FH left and all other chips intact. I have a quite decent team for Gw 27, but I feel like managers who still have 2x FH can do HORRIFIC damage by using them in 27 and 30. So plz is the Wildcard in 27 a viable strategy with a view to BB in DGW 28?? I feel like I could make some gains in DGW 28 and DGW 29 through the WC. BB would look like :

    Dubravka Coady Kilman King

I'll appreciate all thoughts and opinions

If you have a good enough team this week you’d be best of saving FH for 30 & 33. WC 35 & BB in 36

Strategy noted. But on the WC I'll have 5/6 players who don't blank in 30 and 33 is maybe( dunno how sure) going to be both a blank and a double, so I could use my TC there if there's a viable enough candidate. Then maybe FH in 36. All my free transfers from 27 onwards will be to navigate 30 and 33ish. Thoughts and opinions highly appreciated plz!

Best defender for GW27-GW29? Will be playing FH in GW 30.

    A Burnley
    B Wolves
    C Southampton
    D Newcastle
    E Other

    Which player?

Needs to have a game this weekend.

Surely it's Wolves or Southampton with their doubles... Southampton have the better game this weekend

Between Southampton & Burnley for me. Already have Coady.

Ideal would be Mee for GW27, Livra/KWP GW28 onwards
