Gameweek 27 is here and a lot of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are looking to deploy the Free Hit chip. Keeping this in mind, I thought I would do a form-focused activity talking about a few of the games this week. I’ve focused on attack and done a small exercise to look at the expected goals (xG) and expected goals conceded (xGC) for the last six matches and give my thoughts on some names that jump out.

ATTACK

Southampton’s home form, Broja’s goals and Brentford’s defence: FPL Double Gameweek 21 notes 4

Southampton are sixth for xG amongst all teams in the last six matches and Norwich City are 19th in the league for xGC. This leads to me think this is a good match-up for Saints attackers. They are a team bang in form as only Liverpool have scored more goals than them in the last six matches. Rightly, Armando Broja (£5.5m) is a very popular asset as he has the highest expected goal involvement (xGI) amongst all Southampton players in the last six matches. In midfield, James Ward-Prowse (£6.5m), who is on penalties, set-pieces and created three big chances against Everton last time out, is a good shout as well. I’ve also really liked the look of Mohamed Elyounoussi (£5.4m), who has looked good on the eye test every time I’ve seen him play. He has also registered five shots in the box and has created 10 chances in the last six matches.

Manchester City are third for xG and Everton are 14th for xGC. After the disappointing result against Tottenham Hotspur, City will be a wounded animal looking to bounce back. Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m) should likely start and is someone I’m eyeing up given he’s on penalties. Notably, he has the highest shots in the box tally in the last six matches. Raheem Sterling (£10.7m) has an enticing match-up as well. It is noticeable that in the short tenure Frank Lampard has been the Everton manager, they have conceded a lot of shots in the area Sterling likes to operate in as can be seen in this heatmap below.

That’s it from me this week. I hope you enjoyed this article. We did a special episode on The FPL Wire this week talking about the top three Manchester City assets which you can view here.

You can also view our standard episode below where we discuss Gameweek 27 as well as the pros and cons of a Gameweek 28 wildcard.

I see many think Foden wont start this week? What is this based on?
The altercation he was involved in but not in the wrong if you believe what you read or just on form?
Yes he was poor against Spurs but one thing is for sure, Bilva is not a False 9. Grealish and Jesus injury doubts so who plays instead?
Unless Gundo or KDB play false 9 but surely Pep would have tried this against Spurs if so?

Its all guess work with Pep. Don't think anyone can see 100% either way so no point stressing about it

100% agree Pat, but some think Sterling is more nailed than Foden? Baffling considering Sterling was hooked after 65mins v Spurs

Anyone going for Mee and Tark double up over Pope? Leicester and Palace have conceded a lot of attempts from set plays. Could get Forster Mee and Tark over Pope Roberts and Livra.

Exactly the same boat mate, I had Pope Roberts Livramento but with slight uncertainty over Livramento (I think he starts FWIW) and also possibility Lowton covers Roberts one of the DGW games I’ve been feeling uneasy…

Can get Forster Mee Tarkowski and have a little bit left over…

I’ve made the move in my current draft anyway

Good, and very similar to mine. (Unsurprisingly, as it's close to template!). I haven't run any stat comps to check this, but given Liva's attacking potential, it might be worth swapping him in with Bednerak first bench to cover if he doesn't start? Good luck.

    A) Cancelo/Bernado
    B) Laporte/Mahrez

    On FH. Got KDB.

Bernado not had a rest. Mahrez was rested for loss at City. Logic might suggest Mahrez comes back in and Bernado gets a break. What say you?

Missed out a bit last week, so pulled the trigger on FH for this week:

    de Gea
    Cancelo Mee Tarkowski
    De Bruyne Son Ward-Prowse Fernandes
    Broja Kane(V) Weghorst(C)

    Gunn Guéhi McArthur Tsimikas

    What would you change?

exactly the same as mine bar Burn over Lamptey

Think that a strong bench is essential with 3 city players (made easier by the fact I couldnt aford Bruno even with a trash bench)

I've got very similar (basically the template). Going to go ultra cheap bench and squeeze in Bruno over Sancho which I think is worth it. Also looking at Foster and Tark over Pope and KWP to save a bit of cash

Is there anywhere in the member's area where I can view goals conceded from set pieces for each team, in a table?

I know there's goal attempts conceded from set pieces in there, via team stats > defending - but can't see goals conceded

    Hi everyone,
Lots to consider this gameweek for everybody, stick & use free transfers, free hit, wildcard etc. my preferred choice this week is to use my first free hit & wildcard next week.
So with that in mind a little advice is required from the eclectic knowledge in FPL that you all possess regarding team choice, captain choice, and bench boost order.
    My team consists of :
    De Gea
    Roberts, Cancelo, Shaw,
    Sancho, Sterling, Son, Mahrez
    Broja, Kane, Weghorst

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and good luck to everybody and may your bold decisions be greatly rewarded 🙂

He has been in great form and they lost the last game. He came off the bench and scored.

Very likely that he doesn't sit 2 in a row in his current form.

Worth using FH (have 2 left) or WC on the below team? Injury doubts are starred

    DDG
    Cancelo - Digne - Coufal*
    Bowen - Bruno - Cornet* - Foden
    Weghorst - King* - Dennis

    Ramsdale - Salah - TAA - Tierney

Alternatively, I could take the following hit:

Salah & Coufal > Son & Mee (getting Salah back in the week after, potentially on a WC).

    Captaincy really tough on FH:

    A) Son
    B) Kane
    C) Weghorst
    D) Bruno
    E) KDB
    F) Mahrez

Currently on Kane but honestly coud be any of them, Bruno temptnig me with how poor Watford look.
