Fantasy Football Scout member Obay Eid, aka FPL Milanista, is currently ranked 114th in the world in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), having finished 473rd in 2020/21.

With three other top 10k ranks to his name, he sits 18th in our Live Hall of Fame.

Obay also posted finishes of 141st in last season’s UCL Fantasy and 668th in Euro 2020 Fantasy, having finished second in the world in the 2016 edition of that tournament.

With Wildcards and Free Hits being deployed elsewhere in the FPL community, here he outlines his plans for a Bench Boost in Gameweek 29.

Gameweeks are moving in quick succession and this FPL campaign has been quite different to its predecessor seasons. Double Gameweeks are no longer scarce while we are also getting two Free Hit chips to employ across the campaign – unusual times! If planning ahead was key for success in a “normal” FPL season, you can imagine how vital it is now given all the changing circumstances.

So, let’s get down to business. Chip strategies have been talked a lot about recently and as we are all aware, there is nothing called “right or wrong” when it comes to such decisions. Every team has its own structure, and every chip strategy has its merits. In the next few paragraphs, I’ll briefly go through the chip strategy that helped me reach a rank of 117th overall and move on to my initial thoughts on my Gameweek 28 Bench Boost squad.

Morning all, not been doing much fpl this week so just wanted to ask

Is their any merit in a free hit this week ?

    11 doublers rather than 5 or 6 with a -8/12

Get jota back in 29 for his double as I still have

Triple up on Chelsea when no one has them

Avoid city and United for a week

Are these valid points or is the general consensus to save it? Have 4-5 for gw 30 atm so could quite easily get 8 out then rather than play the free hit

I think this week proved there might be more upside in a free hit double than in a blank week as the average free hit is only 15-20 points or so above the actual average ?

My plan has always been to FH this GW for all the reasons you pointed out.

Ok nice, I scored 165 in 26 using the same thinking so here’s hoping for a repeat of the dose !

All of the points you made are all good, valid points, and I agree with basically all of them. I would likely be FH'ing myself this week if I wasn't thinking about using my BB this week and TC next week. Chelsea triple up whilst ownership is low could be awesome, the problem as ever is picking which player will likely start 2 or get solid minutes over the 2, and the other doublers all have nice enough fixtures to make it worth it

That’s almost certainly my plan if the Burnley game in GW30 goes ahead, so I can free hit them out this week but still keep them for 30 before I lose one

That's my plan from the beginning. I was also thinking of using FHs in both GW28 and 30 but after Spurs result last night I am guaranteed 6 players in GW 30, so I will just take a -4 in order to field 9 and use the second FH in 33.

How would we all rank the 3 Newcastle forward options
    A) ASM (Presuming he's fit)
    B) Joelinton (appears to be playing deeper, but is the cheapest and the money saved comes in handy)
    C) Wood

probs neither, I expect heavy rotation. It's likely that your Chelsea mid will only start 1 game

don't think so but Tuchel loves to rotate and has been vocal about how tired the players are. Havertz is the most inform/injury free attacking mid right now

            line up is

            Ramsdale (Sanchez)
            trent robbo aitnouri digne (cancelo)

Weghorst stands out as most obvious 2pt-er to me. Prob keep Bowen if he gets a game in 30 (depending on FH strategy)

I think people need to concentrate on this GW and not ones a few weeks off. I've done transfers planning for future GWs instead of the immediate one and always back fires. Worry about GW 30 when it comes around, injuries, suspensions etc all play a part.

Yeah bringing Kane & Bowen into GW30 action would be better for my team than just Broja. Think Saints win too

Reguilon to Rudiger (play 5–3-2 or rudiger over cancelo)
Gonna be with 7 doublers is it good or do something else?

Already took the lead in my ML’s .. FH this week to be more effective or my strategy with this FH is good ?

Mee --> Rudiger & Dennis --> Bench warmer for a -4? Seems like an expensive way to get Rudiger in...

    Rest of the team is

    Foster | Ramsdale
    Coady | TAA | Cancelo | Digne
    Bowen (--> Saka this/next week) | Jamsey | Salah | Son | Sterling
    Broja | Toney

Rudiger surely has more upside and like Mari Kondo says, "Does Cancelo spark joy?" For me at least answer is no, because even when he does well, every man and his dog has him too. Even if you have some value in him, reckon Rudi'll go up a bit and Cancelo's price can only go the other way if it does change at all.

        Odd assumption - assumes:
        1) Everyone had Dennis for the DGW?
        2) Everyone who had Dennis captained him?
        3) Those who did the above two brought Weghorst?Nnn
        4) Those who did so captained Weghorst and are the same cohort who captained Dennis??!

        --
Also what is a 'trap' but a FFS cliche wheeled out after a player does nothing in hindsight?

For the last statement....plenty were calling him a trap before the first game only to get shot down with the usual "he's got 180 mins to go"

So calling him a trap again is not really hindsight

          1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…

It is cliche what does it mean exactly - I wouldn't go for him because of 'underlying stats' etc.
FPL is about picking players who get the most points - it is precisely why year after year many are afraid to pick Vardy. Simply because of the 'underlying stats' he is a trap. Yet many still pick the likes of Adama Traore because of 'underlyingly stats'.

I am not saying it was correct to pick Weghorst or not. It is just the narrative around this type of thing on FFS that I find really annoying. Cliched guff.

        2. PartyTime

I believed he was. Had to pick between weghorst, broja & adams. Picked adams in the end & righty so.

But it was mainly between broja & adams. Took the risk of going without weghorst for the dgw. He just didn’t pass the eye test to me. Always dropping deep to recover the ball etc… & flashback of dennis just made me conclude that weghorst would be a trap

You didn't had to own\captain Dennis to learn a lesson from his failure.

Not all hindsight, many here warned this may end in tears.
