Our Big Numbers piece looks at the key player and team statistics ahead of Double Gameweek 29 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond 3

-13.80 expected goals prevented (xGP) by Illan Meslier (£4.8m) in 2021/22. In layman’s terms, the Leeds United goalkeeper has conceded almost 14 more goals than data providers Opta deem that he should have based on the quality of the shots that he has faced. That figure, unsurprisingly, is the worst in the division.

149.4 minutes per expected goal involvement (xGI) recorded by Matt Doherty (£4.7m) since Antonio Conte took charge of Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 11. No other FPL defender can beat that, with even Son Heung-min (£10.8m) only just bettering the figure (145). Doherty has been involved in seven Opta-defined ‘big chances’ in just 496 minutes of pitch-time under Conte, with four falling to himself and the other three created for others.

9 chances created in four appearances by Matt Targett (£4.7m) since he made his temporary switch from Aston Villa to Newcastle United in January. Only Liverpool’s two full-backs have supplied more opportunities for teammates over their last four matches.

5 big chances presented to Jan Bednarek (£4.4m) in 2021/22, a tally unbeaten by any other FPL defender. All of these opportunities have, in fact, arrived from December onwards, with his total of 12 shots in the box in his last dozen appearances only beaten by two other Fantasy defenders.

Who is the best third Liverpool asset to own during AFCON?

    Looking to field 10-11 in GW30 without FH, and would like to jump on more Spurs ahead of GW29.

    With 0.4 ITB and 1FT what would you do here?

    Currently:
    Sanchez
    TAA - Cancelo - Saiss - Bednarek
    Salah - Bowen - JWP
    Kane - Jimenez - Adams
    (Foster, Maddison, Ramsey, Royal)

    Looking to transfer out the likes of Sanchez, Royal, Bednarek, Cancelo, JWP, Adams, but Sanchez got double and Southampton with a nice SGW fixture in 29.

    Royal + JWP -> Doherty + Kulusevski (-4)?.

      He's on the wind up. Still, he'd be a better manager than anyone they're likely to get.

      Hilarious. Tuchel has been so positive about how the club has been run top to bottom. The main reason he thinks the club is such a good fit for him.

      Obviously an ownership change will affect things, but won't change the coach/players day to day as extensively (yet).

      United sound like they are a mess top to bottom. Literally the opposite of what Tuchel wants.

        I think Carra wants to laugh at Chelsea not being able to appoint a manager if Tuchel is poached. Thiago Silva would probably do a good job though.

          True to extent. I didnt mind selling Bowen for 0.4 loss (bought at 6.4) to get in some 28/9 doublers & potentially bring him back in 31. But losing 0.6 on Cancelo just to replace him for 1 game, especially when I dont have WC remaining to bring him back, doesn't quite work for me

            • 7 Years
            4 years, 28 days ago

            Of course like everything it's team specific. Just looking at it from a general POV that there are ways to get players back with cheap options available if people need funds.

            You will lose 0.5 if you did sell him. Currently priced at 7.0m

            1. The Mentaculus
              • 4 Years
              4 years, 28 days ago

              The other factors for me are that I think there's more upside to using my FT to get the Kane & Son double up this week, so replacing Cancelo will be 2x -4s & I'm not sure any of the available options are worth that - maybe Robbo but concerned he misses BHA. Perhaps I'm playing this DGW a little less aggressively than 28 though (e.g. only 2x Liverpool)

              • 4 Years

              & will have Sa, Tierney, Doherty for 30 - not sure who I'd want beyond those 3. Not looking like a great GW for defensive double ups

    Is this worth a -8?

    A. James > Robbo
    B. Digne > Doherty
    C. Havertz > Kulu

    Thanks

      Selling Havertz doesn't look smart in his current form.

        I know, I was going to see if he starts tonight, do you think he also starts GW29??

          If he plays the full 90 I'd bet against it. Reckon Lukaku starts either tonight or at the weekend.

          I would guess Lukaku starts tonight & Havertz starts Newsastle & Lille. Just a guess though, wait till tonight.

      Looking at GW29-30 together then I think it is worth the - 8

      Are you FH 30?

      Could you not just do the Havertz>Kulu part next gw?

        I won't be free hitting in GW30.

          Yeah, I’d wait on the Havertz part to be honest. He may do well against Newcastle.

          I am selling Havertz in a similar move even though I might want him back in 31. Enough advantage in 2 extra games for Kulu/Son imo & being able to field 4 mids in 30 rather than only 3

            I will also want him back in GW31, are you doing the same moves, I already have Son.

              Yeah, Havertz - Son (have Kane already) just for 29/30. So much upside this week & dont like the idea of Salah AND Havertz on the bench in 30

    Is it worth taking Bowen out rather than benching him given he will probably be back for 30?

      Depends who you plan to replace him with. I'm looking to keep and hoping he plays in 30. Good fixtures 31-33 as well

      Moyes sounded pretty clear that he was worried about Bowen & scans haven't identified the issue yet.

      I read somewhere that they were looking to have him back for the Europa League 2nd leg (17th March), so reading into it sounds like he could miss both GW29 & GW30. Maybe back GW31 onwards.

      I'd sell. Sounds like you are not FH-ing in 30, so your best bet is an Arsenal or Spurs mid to get the best bang for your buck (DGW > available in BGW).

        Fear you may be right. Might sit on that part another day or so- he’s not going to drop again tonight. And you’re right- no FH for me in 30.

      Probably. Don't know extent of Sessegnon injury & honestly, Sessegnon has been decent form, whilst Regulion has been rooted to the bench. Never played 90 when he was fully fit anyway...

      he was probably my worst buy this season, but maybe if sess is out and u hve a plan to boot him by 31 he could be a decent differential
      personally wont go back there

      Still dont like Reguilon as a buy unless very short-term only (pre-WC). Definite hold if you have him already though

    WC activated. What do you think?
    Should be 10 DGWs, then 10 active in 30 (after 1 FT).

    Ramsdale
    TAA, Robbo, James Doherty, White
    Salah, Kulu, Martinelli, Gordon
    Kane

    Foster, Barnes, Bamf, Hwang

        True. Could easily become Antonio, DCL, etc
        He is on my bench for GW29, but I like that he has a fixture in 30.

    A) Cancelo --> VVD (-4)
    B) Cancelo + Weghorst --> Doherty + Laccazette (-8)
    C) Cancelo + Weghorst --> Matip+ Laccazette (-8)
    D) Cancelo + Weghorst --> Regulion+ Laccazette (-8)

        He had a cut leg from a tackle from Partey in training. Not sure anyone said that it was a 'proper' injury per se.

    would you sell Cancelo or James ?

    Would lose about 0.5 if I sell Cancelo. Would ideally want both for the run-in.
    Will Wc in 32 or 34 so will likely have both back by then, need to sell atleast one to fund kane this week tho.

    Can do Cancelo to Doherty or James to White/Davies

      James is confirmed out till GW31 earliest. Seems like an easy decision with value tied up in Cancelo.

        Just the upside of doherty making me think twice but yeah smarter move would be to ship out James.

          I'd rather have Doherty too. I think it just depends on how much you want Cancelo at the moment.

          Also, there is not currently a guarantee James will be back for GW31, which is something to consider.

      Sell James - has an injury which could be longer than 2 weeks.

      Cancelo has an illness

      No point selling Digne. He plays GW30 and James is out for 4 matches minimum
