The seventh and final Premier League match of the day sees Manchester United play host to Leicester City.

Kick-off at Old Trafford is at 5.30pm.

Interest in this one is limited from a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective, with only four players on show having an ‘effective ownership (EO)‘ of more than 1% in the top 10k:

Both sides are missing their (very) senior strikers tonight, with Edinson Cavani and Jamie Vardy absent as expected through injury and Cristiano Ronaldo a relatively late withdrawal due to illness.

“Unfortunately, he had some ‘flu-like symptoms, which he showed yesterday. Obviously, he should and would have played in the starting XI but he didn’t feel well and couldn’t train.

“Then the doctor went to see him at his house this morning to check again but he didn’t feel any better and that’s why, unfortunately, that’s why he hasn’t been able to play.

“We will play our normal formation that we always play, with Bruno as a striker at a times, but also maybe as a midfielder. Paul Pogba is one of the two offensive midfield players and this is how I have decided to play.” – Ralf Rangnick on Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo is one of three changes to Ralf Rangnick’s starting XI compared to the 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur three weeks ago.

Alex Telles and Nemanja Matic are benched, so in come Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga.

As for the visitors, centre-backs Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana are back together in a Foxes starting line-up after long spells on the sidelines. Daniel Amartey and Caglar Soyuncu drop to the bench as a result.

James Maddison and Harvey Barnes both start, the latter having recovered from an ankle knock over the international break.

13 weeks of having a Chelsea wingback in FPL this season (ignoring the 2 weeks I benched Alonso) - 27pts in total from them. That included getting Chilwell twice, James twice and Alonso once.

Bear in mind that over the whole season, James has 109pts, Chilwell 54pts (in 6 games), Alonso 78pts (241 in total)

Bad time to sell Alexander-Arnold? Will be priced out to buy him back as well. But I am thinking
    TAA + Son + ASM -> James + Maddison + Kane (-4).

No doublers for GW33 means using last FH in GW33.

    Current team.
    Ramsdale | Foster
TAA | Robertson | Doherty | Cancelo | Ait Nouri
    Salah | Mahrez | Son | Saka | Kulusevski
    ASM | Dennis | Broja

I have the same chips and I'm starting to lean towards BB in 33, WC in 34. FH could be in 36, 37 or 38 depending on how things go.

      1. Jet5605
        • 11 Years

Do the fixtures turn in 34 for you to use your WC then? Not sure my squad is good enough to attack the doubles in 33.

        1. Hulk Smash
          • 10 Years

It's team dependent of course. I can get a bench of 4 DGWers for 33 using only free transfers so it kinda makes sense for me.

You could look into how much overlap there is between players you'd want in 33 and those you'd want beyond that. If there is significant overlap maybe you could wildcard in 33?

    Conservative bias.

Last few days plenty of posts re captain Salah or KDB. Most comments recommended to captain Salah, most (me included) captained Salah.

We all knew Salah was tired after 120m and KDB was fresh. However, the fear to be left behind, the fear of mass ownership and captain choice made (most of) us captain Salah anyway. Fear got the most of intuition and common sense.

Maybe it’s time for the participants of this forum to look beyond ownership, captain polls, green/red arrows and template teams and instead promote creativity, disruption, differential strategies, less conservatism and more risk appetite.

    1. Piggs Boson
      • 14 Years

I genuinely thought Salah was the best captain this week.

Can't win them all. Some things are unpredictable.

    2. Jet5605
      • 11 Years
      4 years, 21 days ago

Salah can still take pens even if he's not fresh. Salah captainers would have been patting themselves on the back if the pen had been awarded before he went off.

They will till they do it once and the highly owned asset destroys them, resetting their rank. Learning when is a good opportunity to go for it & when is not is the talent you need.

I thought they were very close. I feared KDB, particularly as my rival has him but the lack of attacking threat from Salah was still a surprise even if he had had a busier week - he’s proved himself fit enough before

I've got my own template going on, haha. I don't own Salah, but do have Sterling and De Bruyne (VC). I captained Kane. I have to go against the grain, I need to make up ground!

To be fair salah has gone off the boil a bit. If you take the two penalties out of 26 for TC it would’ve been a fairly ordinary week. Also hasn’t racked up much in attacking returns since. There is the fear there that if he goes off he will annihilate your rank which means it’s the safety net of having him at all costs. I off all people know that from week 9 when I captained stupidly captained Havertz!!!

Fear = not prepared taking risk; even if he's out of from a very lucky assist could impact rank severely. So if the approach is to protect the current rank then it's fine. If chasing hard and gamble on differentials when it works it's great, but it is risky. So that's the name of the game. I know people argue that you should just focus on who you think will get more points yet won't deny that there's risk management element of it.

I genuinely think most people are looking for confirmation when they post.

And the template serves people well when you see ranks, so people don't want to go differential.

Look at how Lateriser struggled for virtually all of last season to make any headway. Most gw ranks well above 1 million.

It's difficult to punt and land a bullseye consistently. The template forms for a reason.

Having the guts and instincts to break at the right time, like in a tour de France sprint finish may be the way to think of it?

Not a one. Am maybe tempted to swap out Kane to Ron for a week. He loves the limelight so you can bet his hip flexor will be good for that game! Problem is does he play v Norwich??

I presume you would play both TAA and Robbo v MCI next week?

I would. Anything could happen but a 0-0 wouldn't surprise me.

When I say I would, I mean I will be doing.

Thought these two messes of teams would at least give us a decent game.
