We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

CHELSEA KNOCKED OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Chelsea have been knocked out of the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid 5-4 on aggregate at the Bernabeu.

In a classic encounter, the Blues went 3-0 up through goals from Mason Mount (£7.5m), Antonio Rudiger (£6.2m) and Timo Werner (£8.6m), but efforts from Rodrygo and then Karim Benzema in extra-time put Carlo Ancelotti’s side into the semi-finals.

Reece James (£6.3m), meanwhile, was excellent on the right of a back three, while Werner followed up his brace of goals at Southampton at the weekend with a brilliantly taken strike in the second-half.

For FPL managers, tonight’s loss does at least ease the schedule for Chelsea and, in theory, should mean less rotation during the run-in.

Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, Loftus-Cheek (Saul 105), Kovacic (Jorginho 105), Kante (Ziyech 100), Alonso, Mount, Werner (Pulisic 83), Havertz

DIAS UNLIKELY TO START

Pep Guardiola has revealed Ruben Dias (£6.1m) will travel with the Man City squad for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese skipper has missed the past six weeks through injury but returned to training on Monday.

However, the City boss was keen to point out that Dias will not start given his lack of full training and game time.

“He travels with us. From the beginning tomorrow? No. He did one training session after six weeks off. It is premature, but the fact he is back with the schedule we have is good. Everyone will be important and Ruben is.” – Pep Guardiola on Ruben Dias

There was also an encouraging update regarding Cole Palmer (£4.5m), who has missed several weeks with a foot injury.

“He is much, much better but I don’t think he will travel. I will finish the list later. Maybe if he feels good. He feels better and we tried to avoid surgery. The doctor says we will try to avoid it, hopefully…” – Pep Guardiola on Cole Palmer

KLOPP HINTS AT ROTATION

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the media to preview Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Benfica and confirmed that there are no new injuries to report.

However, a bit of rotation could be on the cards given the Reds’ relentless schedule, with Ibrahima Konate (£5.1m), Luis Diaz (£8.0m) and Roberto Firmino (£8.7m) candidates to come into the starting XI.

“The next game has no influence on the line-up for tomorrow night, but the last game has. We have to see, a really super-intense schedule. No one injured as far as I know in this moment, but we need to have a look at who is fresh enough for this game. We see it as a super important game, we won the first leg 3-1 and I know for people who have nothing to do with the game, it’s halfway through and then you play City left and right of the game. And then it’s like the focus could be somewhere else – we see it slightly different, to be honest!” – Jurgen Klopp

What up, Scout? Have any suggestions on what to do with this sorry lot?

    Schmeichel (Pope)

Robertson, White, James (Ait Nouri, Doherty)

    Barnes, Fernandes, Kulusevski, Saka (Gordon)

    Lacazette, Weghorst, Kane

Considering Doherty to Schar, but who to bench?
    Weghorst to Wood?
Gordon to Maddison and bench Weghorst? (Loses Gordon though)

As a weghorst owner, do anything that gets shot of him.

Seriously though, i am thinking of schar and madds in. Doherty properly broken, so might as well ship him first.

What is the better move? 2FT and £0 ITB:

    A) James + Coutinho + Raphinha -> Manquilo + Fernandes(c) + KDH (-4)
    B) Raphinha + Coutinho -> Maddison (c) + KDH

    Dubravka*
    TAA - Robbo - White* - James - Doherty
    Salah - Saka* - Kulu
    Kane - Broja*

    Bench: Ramsdale*; Raphinha, Coutinho, Hwang

Tonight is a great example of why PL is harder to win than CL.

Better team can easily lose over 2 games.

Like City in the league though, cant help but feel if chelsea had a reliable striker they would have been out of sight.

Rodgers was always the worst at liverpool. Always a moaning excuse.

        Mourinho pretty pathetic too.

Conte's recent maybe I'm not good enough schtick was a bit poor too.

Hello people! I'm 2nd in my ML, 13 points behind however, everybody around me has Son and I don't and it's nerve wrecking, 1FT, 2.2m itb, 1FH, BB. Help appreciated.
    Should I;
    A. (-8) Doherty, Weghorst, Raphinha to Fofana/Dalot, Greenwood and Son(C), avoid risk of being priced out of Son even before deadline
    B. (-4) Doherty and Raphinha to Schar and Mount/other mid-priced mids (Ignore Son)
    C. Roll
    D. Other Suggestions

    Dubravka
Cancelo, Alexander-Arnold, White, Doherty, T. Silva
    Kulusevski, Salah, Saka, Maddison
    Kane(C)

    Bench: Foster, Broja, Weghorst, Raphinha

Good, less rotation for best picks. May get a DGW (moved from 37) into GW34/35 if they beat Palace.

      Nothing confirmed though.

I have Havertz (thank god I have a FH for 33 lol) but Mount has looked great the last couple of games.

Havertz isn't going to start GW33 is he..... I'm BBing but can't take him out with their upcoming fixtures now they're out of the CL. Also have alonso who I'm hopeful will sit out the FA Cup and play in 33. What do you reckon?

      1. Hazz

Alonso was great today and has had plenty of rest. I reckon he starts vs. CRY and there's a decent enough chance he gets Arsenal too.

Maybe not in one of them due to the long minutes after not playing - but he's pretty fit.

Havertz - we'll just have to see what happens with the FA Cup lineup. Given it's Sunday I think there's a decent chance he could start (as Lukaku has been injured) - and hopefully we score a couple of goals and can take him off.

May well take part in GW33 too but if Lukaku is back I have an inkling he might get that game on account of his stellar performance against them early in the season. It's little things and a different Araneal team, but Havertz will need rest & it just feels like a perfect time to get Lukaku invoked.

FA Cup semi at the weekend, then ARS next Wednesday.

Don't think he'll be benched for Araneal. No way we can play Sarr as LCB vs. Saka (unless Christensen etc ends up there weirdly.)

Could get a rest at the weekend but I think if he's got it in the tank he could do the semi, then Arsenal.

Here’s the setup. 2FT no cash
      Going with bb36 fh37

If I don’t move a premium then I’ll likely go Weg to Pukki then roll other ft. Pukki doubles in 36 and better overall fixtures in any case. Cucho to Mateta later

      Schmeichel
      Robbo Laporte Rudiger Matip
      Salah Saka Kulu Havertz Maddison
      Kane
      Foster White Cucho Weg

      I have James and Alonso.
100% I'm going to choose the wrong one to start and he'll be replaced by the other in the 54th minute.
      So it doesn't really matter.

May just start Broja and bench both of them.

    I have 2 fh’s and a BB left. My plan was to fh 33 and 36 and bb 37 but now thinking of waiting on my fh 33. Fixtures worry me in 33 - taking out sgw players for less than nailed / performing dbl gwers. Any advice;

    Ramsdale (Dubravka)

I wouldn't stress on the dgw players to much.
      For me -

Tierney > Schar (saves money, double and good fixtures for the run-in)
Fraser > KDH (saves money, lots of doubles for later BB)

if you have plenty of change maybe consider something else - but I think a little surgery is good, so need for massive upheaval.

I'm not selling him but it's not a black and white decision and if you're chasing it isn't the worst idea. Just know that it could backfire massively

After this I'm going to bench him.
Broja will get the start instead.

      Was always benching Alonso too.

All depends on who starts at RWB in FA Cup.

Not sure about James given Azpi was on bench & could feasibly start, giving James ARS.

Hopefully we play James in FA Cup as its the last trophy we can go for this season.

missing something obvious on FH? these are two options Im considering, although it'd feel awkward to go without Liverpool as someone who likes them...

    A - Trent + Saka + Adams
    B - Targett + Martinelli + KDB

    Schmeichel
    Trent Cancelo Schär
    Son Maddison Saka Fernandes
    Kane Wood Adams
    3.9 KDH White 4.5

Would it be too much to expect a goal or two from Cornet in the next 2-3 GWs? Thanks.

He has scored 7 goals so far. Thinking of transferring him in for the next 2-3 GWs for Raphina but reluctant keeping in view Burnley's performance.
