Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout can now get their own complimentary Transfer Planner to help with their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) preparations for the 2022/23.

Rob and James, the brains behind the Championship Manager FPL game, have relaunched their Transfer Planner for the new season, exclusively for Fantasy Football Scout subscribers.

The planner allows you to enter your FPL team as it currently is and then to set to work on what you would like it to become over the next few weeks, taking account of transfers, captaincies, chips and formation preferences.

The road ahead is kept up to date for you via a link to the Fantasy Football Scout Season Ticker and, if you think we’ve been a little too harsh on the Wolves attack or not given the Southampton defence enough credit, you can tweak the ratings to your satisfaction.

HOW TO USE IT

Get your FPL Transfer Planner for 2022/23 1

To get started, you fill in your player selections in the dropdown at the top of each player box on the Planner tab. Typing in the first few letters of a player name, or even “4.5” or “MUN” brings up a relevant shortlist to choose from.

Those same dropdown boxes are used to select your potential transfer targets in the columns for coming Gameweeks and your proposed starting XIs are indicated by tick boxes. Your transfer plans will be neatly summarised via In and Out sections at the foot of each Gameweek column.

If you want to narrow your focus to the next couple of unusual Gameweeks or jump ahead to consider the consequences of a hit there are “+” and “-” options for hiding and re-showing columns at the top of the Planner and Fixture Ticker tabs.

If your chosen FPL device doesn’t have an attached keyboard then downloading Google’s “Sheets” tab provides full functionality for mobiles and tablets.

HOW TO GET ONE

You’ll need to be an FFS Member to request your Transfer Planner. A link to the request form is available at the left-hand side of the Premium Members Area. Fill that out and your sheet will be on its way, though please be patient during this initial release as each one must currently be despatched manually.

Once your Transfer Planner arrives, it may take 20-30 seconds to load when you first use it. The Transfer Planner needs an internet connection to stay active and may sometimes need to be refreshed to re-establish the link.

    Meslier
    Trent Cancelo Chilwell Tomiyasu
    Salah Diaz Sancho Neto
    Haaland Jesus

    Gazzaniga Williams Andreas Greenwood

Meslier could be any of the 4.5s...

I like Mahrez as an early season punt, would need to do...

Neto & Sancho to Bailey & Mahrez?

the issue with Bailey is that there is nowhere else to go if he backfires.

I don't like the Tomiyasu pick, I think he's got an injury and I believe Zinchenko is going to take his place

they play on different flanks. also concerned by his current injury, plenty of other 4.5m defenders if not (probably go Jonny).

I go with Kane in GW1 then consider how Haaland does it, how long he plays and if he scores immediately. Away against West Ham is not an easy start.

also considering Kane from the off, the Bournemouth GW2 fixture is a great captaincy option for Haaland though.

Mings better pick than Tomiyasu or any other 4.5m defender. Neto is a big no-no and i'm pessimistic regarding United assets until they prove me wrong. Martinelli might have a big season, he could be the pick of the bunch of cheap midfielders.

      1. TheBiffas
        • 5 Years

I could name 5 or 6 4.5 defenders that will outscore Mings

    C. Ronaldo scored 18 goals, 3 assists and got 29 nonus points last FPL season. He ended up on 159 points.

Forwards just don't score enough points. Even Kane struggles to keep up with the premium midfield options.

Jesus at 8m could have a fantastic season with Arsenal, he can score 15 goals and around 8-10 assists and still get outscored by most 8m midfielders like Mount, Diaz or even Saka.

I think i might start with 2 cheap forwards, i'm seriously considering Mitrovic.

Haaland is capable of scoring 30+ goals, same with Kane

Kane 20/21: 23 goals, 14 assists, 40 bonus points, 242 fantasy points. He still falls behind on points to premium midfielders. Even with the best case scenario, premium forwards can only hope to barely keep up with the points output of premium mids.

Kane could have his best season ever. A lot more creativity in the Spurs midfield means he doesn't have to rely on Son for service anymore

Watching Spurs play i actually see the opposite. They are very dependant on Kane dropping deep and being the main facilitator, i don't see that changing.

I think Kane will drop a bit deeper this year with Kulu/Richarlison and Son running through. I expect a few extra assists but no more goals. Maybe....

    2. Fletch69
      • 5 Years

I completely agree. It would be some amazing performance for a Striker to hit the 258 / 265 points that Salah and Son did last year.

It's why I've gone Jesus and Mitrovic. Been burnt by Mitro twice before, fallen for it again......

I was thinking this the other day and came upon this thread which investigates the idea in depth:

      https://twitter.com/FPLTheorist/status/1547230885082083329?t=sXSdqYUE_ePwsPpv-9nAiw&s=19

Makes me lean Saka over Jesus at the moment. I still think one of Kane and Haaland is good to have, but goalscoring midfielders are such good value

    4. No Professionals
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 1 month ago

I think this is a good reason why we shouldn't be shoe horning 2 11.5m forwards in to our teams. They can be great captaincy options for nice fixtures, but poor value otherwise.

      1. TheBiffas
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

If they both have 250+ pt seasons, which they easily could, then they aren't poor value. Kane is a better proposition than he's ever been and Haaland is Haaland.

        1. Fletch69
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 1 month ago

But that's the point. For a striker to score 250 + points they have to play pretty much every game and score 30+ goals with 10 assists. Maybe they will.....

        2. Float
          • 8 Years
          4 years, 1 month ago

I'm sure they'll both do great, but "easily" getting 250 just isn't true. Kane has never exceeded 250 points and we still don't really know a lot about how Haaland will be utilised

    Anyone looking at Eriksen @6.5?

    Current team

    Meslier (Raya)
    Trent Cancelo Perisic Cash (Neco)
    Mahrez Mount Diaz Kulu (Andreas)
    Haaland Jesus (Greenwood)

Quite like the look of 4x 8.0 mids

    Mahrez a good differential
    Mount has relatively low ownership
    Diaz saves 5.0 on Salah
Kulu could continue how he left off
--> if not he could become Coutinho, Rashford, Maddison, Zaha or someone similar

Is having two premiums a minimum requirement or can a one-premium pull if off?

Luis Diaz, Saka, Mahrez, Mount, Maddison

I think it's more of a structure issue. You'll have to have a premium defender or an 8.0 player on your bench each week.

    TAA Cancelo James Botman
    Son Mahrez Diaz Sancho Martinelli
    Haaland

Bench: 4.0 GK, Williams, 4.5 ST, 4.5 ST

I'd imagine he'd be rotated with Antonio rather than pairing them upfront. Also given he didn't have great stats at Southampton and West Ham's starting fixtures being quite difficult, I don't like him as an option.

What is considered a successful captain pick?
Assuming Mo scores 250 and majority captain him every game will give you 250 points. 250 translates to 6.57 points per game which is 4.57 score per game since I'm assuming the captain pick stays on for 60 mins. So does this mean if you captain someone who gets any sort of returns be it CS | assist | goal is a success? That leads me to the question are premium defenders good captain picks in good fixtures?

    1. Klaren
      • 8 Years
      4 years, 1 month ago

I did captain Cancelo/TAA relatively often in easy fixtures in the past 2 seasons but think there is a bigger risk with the 5 subs rule as we might see some early subs for wingbacks when they get the score early.

      1. Dags
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

Yeah that's true, but that goes for attackers too I guess. Won't lose the CS though

        1. Klaren
          • 8 Years
          4 years, 1 month ago

Yeah it does apply to attackers too, but if likes of Salah/Haaland/KDB/Kane/Son etc are getting subbed off early, there would be a high likelihood that their team scored a few and thus a relatively good chance they already had an attacking return.

Also if an attacker scores/assists and gets subbed out early, they still have a chance of getting BPS while a defender getting subbed out before 60 also eliminates possibility of bonus as well as the CS. So I think overall potential impact is more significant for defenders.

Yeah agreed. Seems why FPL values some of these players very highly. Team without captaincy premiums just looks so good on paper.

Problem with defenders is that it takes one mistake from any player for that C/S to go. Once that goes you'll be likely looking at a 2 pointer regardless of BAPs as the opposition will be taking them.

You're then reliant on an offensive return from a defensive player where the probability is naturally lower.

      1. Dags
        • 4 Years

Yeah that's true. The premium attackers are so darn expensive.

    3. The Mentaculus

In practice, I think we mostly measure captaincy success by comparing to the other popular choices that GW, e.g. if you cap Son & he gets 10pts but the majority cap Salah & he gets 15.

I think last season I captained Reece James once (spectacularly successful), Trent once & Cancelo once (did ok). Most of the time a CS without bonus / goal / assist, i.e. 6pts, represents a fairly underwhelming captain score. But as Trent / Cancelo tend to attract bonus pts anyway, when they get an assist they can often end up with 12pts which is strong

      1. Dags

Oh that's pretty interesting. Do players just use some of their transfers for better captaincy picks?

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 5 Years

I think standard practice is to have 2, or maybe later in the season 3, attacking premiums (say 11m+) who are your main captains & choose by fixture/form. Although the default early on last year was basically just Salah. Sometimes mid-priced players like Antonio & Bowen last season became top captain choices when running particularly hot

          1. Dags
            • 4 Years
            4 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I'm rolling with two too. 3 just wrecks the defence. Mid priced players captaincy pick seems very risky which is why I guess I hear about perma captain mo on here 🙂

    4. DelPiero10
      4 years, 1 month ago

From gwks 1-25 I've highlighted just three gwks where James/Chilwell stand out as strong differential captain picks. The value in premium attackers lies in their captaincy potential so best to try and maximize that as often as possible imo.

      1. Dags
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I think there is too much risk in the defenders losing their CS. The premium attackers have very steady almost unmatchable captaincy returns unless you get your captain pick right every week which is not gonna happen.

        1. DelPiero10
          4 years, 1 month ago

There's a time and a place, just wouldn't be punting on them regularly. Liverpool/City have attackers you'd choose over their fullbacks but James/Chilwell do appeal a little more especially if they are the only Chelsea players you had those weeks. Could still make a solid argument to go for Mount/Sterling ahead of them but as a very rare punt, they could be worth a flutter the odd time.

I mean, he did well in fits and bursts for Soton. Geo and Gonzo think he's one for the future. Starting 9 as of 23/24. If he signs, there are several games to play before Aug 6, so he'd get game time... and some early European fixtures too after that. For 5.5 I don't see an issue with him, as you're unlikely to own even a second or third Hammer given the fixture ticker.

But Undav is on penalties I believe... oh boy, lots of tinkering to do yet. Trying No Salah builds this week.

With all the talk of 2 or 3 premiums, it is interesting that the top FPL scorer from the season before last isn't getting a look in around these parts, even with his price reduction. Would that change if a certain other Portuguese moved on, or are there other, shinier options available now?
