GoalScorer Challenge

Fantasy Football Scout have once again teamed up with the popular GoalScorer Challenge competition this season. It will be the biggest GSC season ever, with a massive 56 Gameweeks including international weeks to help fill the time in those quiet periods away from FPL.

We will be giving away a Premium Membership to the best manager every month to go with the game’s £500 top prize for the campaign’s overall winner.

If you have not played before, GoalScorer Challenge is a very simple and free game. Every week you pick one player from the Premier League who you think is most likely to score. The more goals that player racks up, the more points you get. But pick wisely, as you can only select each player once per season.

There are three types of Gameweeks:

  • Premier League – Most weekends there will be a full round of league fixtures which will all be included. If there is a full round of fixtures during midweek (for example over the Christmas period) these will be counted as a separate Gameweek, while there are spaces this time around for additional midweek rounds at the end of the season.
  • International – During international breaks, you still have to pick a Premier League player, but for their country. This season includes five international weeks plus seven rounds of the World Cup.
  • Cup – On FA Cup weekends, you are again limited to players playing for Premier League teams. The EFL Cup final will also be included as it will take place alongside a regular round of Premier League matches.

GSC is free to play and it only takes a minute to enter each week. You can create mini-leagues and play against your mates, too.

Full details, rules and entry can be FOUND HERE.

Thinking James will outscore Martinelli at the same price, so:

    A. Martinelli (play 4-4-2)
    B. James (play 5-3-2)

      4-4-2

        Thanks.

Anyway, its an easy switch to 5-3-2 if Martinelli cannot keep up with James.

      Rest of team is template:

      Ward, Iversen
      Trent, Robertson, Cancelo, Perisic, xxx
      Salah, 8.0m, Bailey, xxx, Andreas
      11.5m, Jesus, 4.5m

My exact team with James Saka and Kane in this empty spots. Still undecided on Kane Vs. Haaland

I just know I’m going to want haaland week 2

Risks are GK’s and not a great out for Bailey. If Bailey needs a change my current plan is a downgrade of Saka, Perisic or James. Perhaps a sideways move to Drewsbury-hall also.

Do you think Martinelli will score more points than James over the first few games?

I do think so..wouldn't be surprised if Martinelli is highest for PPM in the game by GW6.

I would go A even though James may outscore Martinelli probably by having 5 meh games/cameos coupled with one really explosive game wheres he can hit more than 15 points.

It's the meh games probably at RCB instead of RWB and cameos that make it frustrating to own James

That is very true. The key with James is to hold him tight, as long as he is not injured.

Struggling a bit with my 4th mid. My midfield is quite templatey:

    Salah - 8.0 - Martinelli - ______ - Andreas

Currently on Neto but I'm not convinced, decent fixtures but no Jimenez for wolves so I'm not sure. Is Bailey a better bet?

Bailey, neto are two most mensioned. If they are not what u want and dont think wolwes are most attacking team than u can try with Leeds mid Aaronson. He is quite atacking and Leeds are team that must go to goal more to get result. Just 1% picked and he can be good differential

    Advice on the below pls?

think Im there... Perisic could be Trippier and Iverson to Sanchez.
    Other than that, im locked.

    Ward
    TAA Cancelo James Perisic
    Salah Diaz Rashford Martinelli
    Kane Jesus

    Iverson Williams Andreas Archer

Kane to haaland GW2 is the plan....

This is the template structure, nothing wrong there. Good to start the game. Make changes as needed as the season unfolds.

Only suggestion would be to avoid Manchester players.

rashford and Iverson to Neto + Mendy is the only other option

I had the same dilemma. Trossard, JWP and ASM are all good options at that price in my opinion. However, I wouldn't start with any of them. Also, if Manchester starts playing better then Rashford is great value indeed. If you think they will improve with Ten Haag, then stick with it -- nice differential.

I chose Bailey and used the remaining money elsewhere. To each his own.

Imagine Man City bought perhaps the most explosive and prolific striker in Europe, sold his main competition and was then priced at £11.5 and £1.5 mill cheaper than Salah and even cheaper that Son & KdB … we would all think we were in dream land and he would be the highest owned player in the game … oh wait … 🙂

    Down to 5 final spots..

    A) Trippier+Perisic+Saka+(Dasilva)+(Archer) (5-3-2)
    B) Trippier+(Neco)+Martinelli+8.0mid+(Archer) (4-4-2)
    C) Perisic+(Neco)+Martinelli+(Dasilva)+Wilson (4-3-3)

    Which to go?
A looks the best but have the least exit route
B allow me to jump on any sub-8m mids but currently favouring none of the 8m mids
C has the best depth with no 4.5fwds on the bench but not sure on Wilson’s explosiveness

great article by Sky regarding Saliba, he has looked absolute class in pre season, but i wasn't aware of his stats from last season, he is going to be an absolute bonus magnet if he can replicate this kind of level

    from the article

"Saliba registered 3,438 touches, the most by any player in Ligue 1, and set a divisional record for the most passes completed in a single season with 2,833, helping to retain possession for Marseille but also launching attacks from deep"
