We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Liverpool v Crystal Palace in our Scout Notes summary.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-improving website, and our own Premium Members Area.

Darwin Nunez (9.1m) was shown a red card on his first start at Anfield and will now miss Liverpool’s next three Premier League matches.

The Uruguayan had racked up five goal attempts, three shots in the box and two big chances after 57 minutes, but needlessly retaliated after being shoved in the back by Joachim Andersen (£4.5m).

As a result, Darwin will miss the Reds’ Gameweek 3 trip to rivals Manchester United, as well as home matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle United in Gameweeks 4 and 5 respectively.

With Diogo Jota (£8.9m) also out with a hamstring injury and Roberto Firmino (£8.0m) absent on Monday as a precaution, Jurgen Klopp’s attacking resources are certainly stretched at the minute.

“Darwin knows he let his teammates down. I will talk to him. It was not a reaction we want to see. He knows he will be challenged in this way, centre-halves will do that, but it is not a reaction we want. But we will use the time productively. We will use the suspension for physical work to make him strong – not a punishment but to make him stronger.” – Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez

“Not the start we wanted but two points is the least of our problems right now. It’s really tricky with injuries. We have to use next week to maybe bring one or two back, although I don’t know if that is possible. We have lost Darwin now as well, which does not help, but Bobby (Firmino) might be back, we will see.” – Jurgen Klopp

One player who did step up on the night was Luis Diaz (£8.0m), who opened his account for the season with a sublime equaliser from the edge of the box. The Colombian’s strike ensured he bagged maximum bonus, in what was a pleasing nine-point haul for his 19.6% ownership.

“Luis’s (Diaz) goal was unbelievable. He put in a super intense game and an incredible goal, of course we needed that. We had two other nice opportunities we were a bit unlucky with, but it’s a point. Not what we wanted before the game, but in the end, we will take it.” – Jurgen Klopp

Elsewhere, it was a frustrating night for owners of Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Andrew Robertson (£7.0m), both of whom blanked.

The Egyptian was deployed as a lone forward after the red card as Klopp shuffled his pack, and almost scored a late winner, but it was a below-par performance given his usual high standards.

Robertson, meanwhile, was replaced by Kostas Tsimikas (£4.5m) as part of a triple Liverpool change after 62 minutes, in one of his quieter nights going forward.

However, fellow full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) fared better, pushing into midfield after Darwin’s red card, and despite conceding still bagged a bonus point after producing a succession of crosses and created chances for his teammates.

Above: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pass map (successful passes in green) v Crystal Palace in Gameweek 2

Rather surprisingly, Liverpool have now gone behind in their last six Premier League games dating back to April, and as a result, will be eager to get Joel Matip (£6.0m) back as soon as possible.

“Joel (Matip) will be two weeks. We will see with that. The week was crazy; I have experienced a lot of weeks but that was like we had a witch in the building. Honestly, like every day somebody else pulled out (of training) for the craziest reasons. In the end, Joey (Gomez) didn’t start. Nat (Phillips) did really well, I have to say, but Joey didn’t start because he only trained yesterday again. At the start of the week, (he had) a little issue. Bobby (Firmino) couldn’t make it. Hendo this morning, we got the information there was a little concern about something if he plays too long, so he didn’t play that long. That’s the situation. It was not too cool, but then the game we made of it I really liked it – I really liked the game. That’s how it is. We want to fight and I saw that a lot, and we played really good stuff. So, a lot of good performances and I liked it, but that’s it now. We drew, let’s carry on.” – Jurgen Klopp

Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) put Crystal Palace in front on the counter after getting in behind Liverpool’s defence.

At the time, it was Crystal Palace’s first shot of the game, but it was clearly a tactic Patrick Vieira and his team had worked on, which both Zaha and Eberechi Eze (£5.5m) touched on after the match.

“We knew it was going to be hard work and it was a case of taking our chances. We knew we would have to suffer but our plan was to soak it up and take chances, so I am happy with the point. They were pushing forward and I was looking for space in behind. It only takes one chance and I am glad I took it today. As soon as Eze played it through I had in my mind what I wanted to do. I didn’t want the goalkeeper to set himself so I just took it early. We are a good team and handling the big teams well, so I am very optimistic about this season, especially with the way we are playing.” – Wilfried Zaha

“We worked hard and could have nicked it in the end. It’s not easy to play your football here so to get a point is a good outcome for us. Liverpool play a high line, our aim was to get on the ball and open up space, get in behind – and it worked well for us today” – Eberechi Eze

In truth, Zaha should have netted a second too, when he fired his effort against the post and wide late on. However, the signs are good for the £7.0m midfielder, who takes on an Aston Villa side minus Diego Carlos (£5.0m) in Gameweek 3.

“I am really pleased. It is not an easy place to come and we defended well as a team. We were prepared to suffer and did. In our counter-attacks we were good. We needed a big team performance and we had it tonight. When we won the ball Wilf (Zaha) ran in behind and the timing of his run was really good. Wilf is a goalscorer. Today he could score more than one.” – Patrick Vieira

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips (Gomez 63), van Dijk, Robertson (Tsimikas 63); Fabinho, Elliott (Carvalho 79), Milner (Henderson 63); Salah, Diaz, Darwin

Why is zaha always about 0.5 to 1 million underpriced? You know you'll get around 15 goals from him.. that he ll start every game when fit.. will play striker in some games.
Yet he seems to have an FPL pricing ceiling of 7 million. Imo he should be up there with Maddison and mount price wise.

I think maybe it's just the frustration tax though.. he can go on runs of 5 games and get nada while the others in the 8 mill price bracket can be a bit more predictable. Also, bonus points just aren't his thing.

As usual, he tempts me yet again.. and I'm pretty sure he will disappoint me again too.

Maybe things are a bit different under Viera. Last season's returns were about 1 return(goal/assist) every 2 games. In the tougher fixtures he tends to play as a striker too so that negates tough fixtures a bit. Tbh Apart from the 2019/20 season I'd say he has been pretty good as an FPL asset.
You know what you'll get with him. Il stick with Kulu for now but if i ever need a spare million il know where to look post gw4

no idea, many people believe he's a troll yet he scored 14 times last season which i believe is more than every midfielder bar Salah, Son & KDB, only 2 assists though so not ticking over the way Maddison and Bowen & Saka were last year

The quality around him isn't that great tbh. He actually creates quite a lot(that ball to eze last week was Sublime) and used to get many assists in previous season. I won't be surprised if he gets 15 goals and 5 assists this season. Yet I'm sure il keep ignoring him unless i force myself to buy and hold

        Read the rules

The price shown on your transfers page is a player's selling price. This selling price may be less than the player's current purchase price as a sell-on fee of 50% (rounded up to the nearest £0.1m) will be applied on any profits made on that player.

Is Cucurella more nailed than we think?

Even if Chilwell starts Cucurella could slot in at LCB where he played 10 times for Brighton last season.

(Feel like Tuchel more likely to prefer Cucu pace amd technical ability alongside Thiago Silva and Koulibaly over likes of Azpi & Chalobah)

Could be a different story if Chelsea sign another CB in Fofana.

If Fofana stays at Leicester then Cucu is an option in LCB. Koulibaly must then go to the right, which i am not to sure about, but i guess he could. Thiago is 37, so you would expect him to miss some games, that leaves one more place in defence, Koulibaly can play there, perhaps. Not sure.
Atm Cucurella is a lot further in terms of fitness than Chilwell.
As Tuchel mentions, they have different qualities, so in a tussle for the lwb spot when both are fit you would imagine some games fits Chilwell better than Cucu and the other way round.
Chilwell is not the one that plays most games though, tendency to get injured alot.

Rodgers said bought as third keeper. If anything Ward loses his place to Iversen, but i doubt that. Ward is a decent goalie with internationals for his home country.
If he gets a run of games he will show he is not that far off the Dane they had, except for his age and his extremely high percentages of saving pens.

          • 10 Years

The problem with Ward is that he has only played 30 club games in the last 5 seasons and only ever had one full season 16/17 in his life (Championship).

Smithies has nearly 500 games to his name and I reckon a few more drubbings for Leicester and he will be starting.

Ward has had a few tournaments with Wales though but largely and understudy to Wayne Hennessy.

I think he could be a decent keeper but I think he lacks experience and confidence in the club game.

Unfortunately I have Bailey and I’m unsure on what to do with him right now.

I don’t have enough faith in Dasilva or Gross so my thoughts are to hold Bailey and keep him on the bench and play Neco Williams until I use my WC in the next couple of Gameweeks.

Mount has also been underwhelming these past two GWs. I can hold him for the better fixtures or should I swap him out for either:
      A) Foden
      B) Gundogan

If I swap for Gundo I’ll use the 0.5 to upgrade Iversen to a 4.5 GK

Neco is a vry good option. dont be fooled by the price. he's basically a winger in the TAA James mould

Keep Mount he's a flat track bully and Chelsea nice run of fixtures is about to begin

Same position as you, i chosed not use my transfers on Bailey. Firs of all, he is 5.0, so unless you have the cash to go straight up to Martinelli or maybe Rodrigo, i would just think of him as an option beside Neco or Andreas if you have one of them. Neco is playable in the next gw,
And, Coutinho went off last game with what looked like injury, if he is out then Buendia is the only real option beside Bailey.
And Bailly could play up front also.
Mount is frustrating, but with Leeds up, unless you want to do something with funds by going down, i would just leave it.
I have made a -4 with both of those two in my team and they both stayed safe.

B if both will be starting. If one on bench I’d just downgrade Bailey, Saka will come good

      All this fuss over Bailly.
It is clear there are few alternatives to him.
He costs 5 mil. So you have .5 extra on the bench.
Wait for an opportunity; don't waste a tfr.
Get Xhaka if you have room and the frost Friday is left for a few more weeks IMO

He was a two gwk punt that flopped. Nobody worth listening to is fussing over him. Easy sell with plenty of options.

Every other post involves Bailly. we are agreeing not disagreeing. Tired of the posts actually. I cannot agree with the choices though.

Because it's time to sell as the two gwks are up. I wouldn't call that fussing. Folks just didn't plan for his exit like they should have and are asking for advice. Only one account has been fussing over him, and let's be honest, none of us would trust said account to tell us the time of day with any kind of accuracy.

Using 1 of my 2FTs to shift him this week so I don't lose it. Probably getting March, which tells me something about that price bracket! Maybe someone will emerge before transfer deadline at the end of the month as an option for that price.

to me, this is all about what you can do. If i could do him to Martinelli in a straight swap i would see the justification. If its just to sell him for another 5.0-5-5 mid and you have Neco on bench who plays Everton next, then i would just leave it.
Its all down to how your team is set up, boring as it sounds.
If Coutinho is out then Bailey got one less to fight for the nr10 spot with.
