Scoutcast – FPL Gameweek 5: Salah, fixture congestion and transfer plans

Seb and Andy are Lepper-less as they co-host the Scoutcast without Joe ahead of Tuesday’s Gameweek 5 deadline.

It’s a swift turnaround between Gameweeks as we prepare ourselves for the first midweek round of Premier League matches of the season.

And fixture congestion is a big focus of tonight’s stream as the pair discuss not just the recovery periods between Gameweek 4-6 matches but also the packed schedule for the teams involved in European club competition all the way up to the World Cup.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is another hot topic as Seb and Andy discuss the Egyptian’s Gameweek 4 blank.

A questions-and-answers session with the watching Fantasy community, the Gameweek 5 captaincy debate and forthcoming transfer plans are also on the agenda. Live Hall of Fame number 33 Seb, ranked inside the top 40k in 2022/23 already, even has the luxury of burning a transfer…

    Feel confident having both Haaland and KdB this gameweek, but who to captain? Think Kdb suits low blocks better but havent't watched Nottingham this season, how do we expect them to play?

      Forest don't really play with a low block, they push up the pitch and leave a lot of gaps in behind for teams to counter them (or at least that's what I've seen in the West Ham and Spurs games). I think both are good options, my only thing with KDB is that I think there might be a chance that he sits deeper playing balls through while Gundogan/Bernardo stay forward, or at least it seems possible from the last couple of games

        Good point. I would go for Haaland as captain just because of the massive upside.
        I would feel worse not captaining him and he returns than the other way around.

      I have a good feeling about Chelsea (H) for Mitrovic. Next 2 are pretty tough but I'd probably just get him now rather than have a 2 GW placeholder

      I understand Cancelo a bit.. his attacking threat is on par with a rodri this season due to the system being played. so that could be a 6 pointer that is thrown away.
      Salah i don't get though.. on one side people are considering captaining since he is arguably the best "nailed" fpl option in the game in recent memory and on the other people are selling because he missed 2 sitters and forced a wonder save.

        I'm actually looking to restructure. Salah+Archer > Diaz and Darwin. Might do it next GW. And if selling Cancelo means getting Gundog or Bilva, that's not a crazy move. But chucking because of a blank or two, yeh that's dumb.

    I consider doing:
    A) Martinelli -> Rodrigo
    B) Martinelli -> Alvarez (from city)
    C) Saka -> Gundogan

    My reasoning is that Martinelli could get rotated by ESR this gameweek.
    I know Alvarez is a long shot, but Pep has said that Haaland will be rotated so I could see Alvarez come in after 60 min when the nottingham side already has conceeded and maybe start next weekend. It is always a risk getting city players but I don't think Haaland will start both wednesday and saturday. Or am I over thinking it?

    What to do in GW5??

      Peri could be benched (80% chance), same for Martinelli (Smith-Rowe will start I guess)
      Haaland will not play more 60 mins
      but I don't like Jesus for this GW, AW got really tight defensive structure, so I guess they wont conceed many goals
