Seb and Andy are Lepper-less as they co-host the Scoutcast without Joe ahead of Tuesday’s Gameweek 5 deadline.

It’s a swift turnaround between Gameweeks as we prepare ourselves for the first midweek round of Premier League matches of the season.

And fixture congestion is a big focus of tonight’s stream as the pair discuss not just the recovery periods between Gameweek 4-6 matches but also the packed schedule for the teams involved in European club competition all the way up to the World Cup.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is another hot topic as Seb and Andy discuss the Egyptian’s Gameweek 4 blank.

A questions-and-answers session with the watching Fantasy community, the Gameweek 5 captaincy debate and forthcoming transfer plans are also on the agenda. Live Hall of Fame number 33 Seb, ranked inside the top 40k in 2022/23 already, even has the luxury of burning a transfer…

The Scoutcast can be viewed via the embedded video below but is also available as a podcast:

unless you're willing to drop either Robbo or Cancelo, then there isn't much you can do, and those 2 obviously have great fixtures

Trying to find something worth dropping one of them for...Torn over Mitrovic/Toney in for Archer or ASM/Bernardo for Dasilva.

honestly don't think any of them are worth it this GW at least, Cancelo could go next GW with 2FT

Down the line Kiv cancelo or robbo down to 5.0, archer up to isak may be a nice play there if he starts doing well

so does pep rest haaland this gw 4 days after last game or vs villa away 3 days before CL?

“Now he has one game a week. I tell you now when we have games every three days that Erling will not play, I will play Julian."

Quite sure, he wont start Julian in first CL game of the season

imo Alvarez starts (home game, had a solid amount of minutes from the bench now + Barca friendly), whether that's with Haaland or not is too hard to predict.

it's still very early season so a rest would be surprising but this is Pep and Forest is Cities' easiest game for a while

Pep needs to win the Champions League, so it makes sense that he starts his best in CL fixtures, namely Haaland. If he only starts one a week, work backwards from the midweek CL matches and he'd be starting this GW5 and on limited minutes for GWs 6, 7 & 8. That seems hard to believe, but Pep can always play the false nine again in those three matches - City did win the PL using that system after all.

    Diaz - Newcastle (h) Everton (a) Wolves (h)
    or
    Sterling - Southampton (a) West Ham (h) Fulham (a)

who scores more in your opinion? Diaz playing in the better attacking side, but Sterling more central and involved in Chelsea's attacks

Possible Haaland starts ... Thoughts from Twitter from @4alex_mcfc

    - NFO (Aug 31) - starts & subbed off early if winning
    - avl (Sep 3) - does not start / rotated and maybe on for a cameo to close out the game
    - sev (Sep 6) - prioritise start
    - TOT (Sep 10) - prioritise start
    - BVB (Sep 14) - prioritise start
    - wol (Sep 17) - no idea ...

Can't understand why he'd play Forest over Villa, surely the easier game so Pep would be more inclined to let Alvarez have a run out

Recovery time is more important, 4 days instead of 3 makes a massive difference with regards injury risk etc,
Plus Villa are woeful, Bournmouth, West Ham and Palace have all managed just 1 win in 4 games, all against Aston Villa

        1. Coys96

Villa lost at home yesterday, I doubt all the booing and anti-Gerrard moaning will intimidate City too much. Still think recovery time is key

Because only 3 days between Forest and Villa and 3 days between Villa and Seville but has been 4 rest days pre Forest game

      4. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 9 days ago

It's simple, the three most important or difficult games over this period are Sev (Sep 6), TOT (Sep 10) & BVB (SEP 14) and he is likely to start in those.

If Haaland is rested for Forest but plays against Villa it will mean 4 games in 11 days and that will not happen.

He could be rested against Forest and Villa but that doesn't really make much sense.

I think Haaland starts against Forest and and is rested against Villa with Alvarez getting 20 mins against Forest and a start against Villa

Good analysis. Pep needs to win the CL - that's the feather in the cap... winning PL is old hat for everyone concerned.

City can beat Villa with or without Haaland. It's not like they forgot how to play with a false nine. A rested and firing Haaland in the CL is where it's at for Pep.

    2. FOO FIGHTER
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 9 days ago

So, the next 3 PL fixtures he could get about 150 minutes, perhaps less out of 270 minutes.

      So not even 2 games.

You could be looking at roughly thumbsuck 1200 minutes missed which works out to around 13 games.

      1. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 9 days ago

No, it's just around these early CL fixtures and the midweek PL game that the above related to, if City are already qualified early he will probably be rested in those latter CL games rather than the PL.

You can't simply extrapolate in the way you have suggested, unless of course you are a salty non owner who has been bumping his gums about how bad Haaland is 😉

      1 or 2

I’d be inclined to go with Diaz

1 for safety 2 for potential upside

Yeah, I am not going to do my head in with looking at yellow and red blocks stressing about when and how many minutes Haaland is going to get, how many games he will start etc ad It becomes like climbing up a cliff and then rolling down trying to dodge rocks etc.

I am just going without and having two players which will nulify his points.

it's going to be too much having the same conversation every week about every player.

      "will they rest" "rotation" "xmins"

i'm already exhausted of it and we haven't played a mid-week game yet.

This is s game after all, not a bloody science project.

I don't want to be sitting and staring at a colourfull spreadsheet the whole week trying to figure out "xmins"

It's simple, Haaland will be the highest points scorer in FPL so you own him, you play him, you captain him if you are that way inclined or swap to Kane, Jesus or Salah if you wish ... and if he doesn't start a game from time to time then so be it

      A m/f player then I take it.
Your question is a little lazy tbh but I will suggest Milivojević.
