Scoutcast – FPL Gameweek 5: Salah, fixture congestion and transfer plans

Seb and Andy are Lepper-less as they co-host the Scoutcast without Joe ahead of Tuesday’s Gameweek 5 deadline.

It’s a swift turnaround between Gameweeks as we prepare ourselves for the first midweek round of Premier League matches of the season.

And fixture congestion is a big focus of tonight’s stream as the pair discuss not just the recovery periods between Gameweek 4-6 matches but also the packed schedule for the teams involved in European club competition all the way up to the World Cup.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is another hot topic as Seb and Andy discuss the Egyptian’s Gameweek 4 blank.

A questions-and-answers session with the watching Fantasy community, the Gameweek 5 captaincy debate and forthcoming transfer plans are also on the agenda. Live Hall of Fame number 33 Seb, ranked inside the top 40k in 2022/23 already, even has the luxury of burning a transfer…

      Henderson, Raya and Sanchez are almost equally good options at the moment. Meslier would be out of the box pick, but I don't really trust in the Leeds defence to keep many clean sheets.

          Brute Bernard and Skull Murphy were tag team wrestling champions in the 1960s, until Killer Kowalski and Gorilla Monsoon defeated them. My dear old Nanna used to love watching the wrestling and would yell at the black and white TV when it was on. Bernado Silva is the absolute spitting image of Brute Bernard, so much so I am certain they are related.

    Played WC in GW3 .. was just checking to see the difference between the players i had then vs now

    Basically,
    Swapped OUT

    Iversen, Digne, Trippier, Neto, Bailey, Kane

    for

    Sanchez, James, Saliba, Gross, (Zaha followed by )Sterling, Toney

    Would have lost 0.8 sticking to the original team.. gained 0.9 unrealised and 0.4 realised team value instead ie 1.7 million swing(and 1.2 in real value).

    Also gained about 65 points over the original team and have my team perfectly setup for the foreseeable barring injury

    Probably the best WC I've ever played. Usually i just hold onto my WC as long as possible and then force myself to play it closest to the last day as possible and usually waste it. Super chuffed this year(only played it early since we have one in GW16 anyway)

    Apologies for the gloating.. im just super thrilled with a WC for once.

      Note that my planned free transfers were Neto to Da Silva and Walker in for Digne over the past 2 weeks had i not WCed. So either way this has been a huge success even considering the Free transfers that would be used

        Thanks so much. Would have been rock bottom in my MLs had i stuck to the original threemium team with Haaland, Salah, Kane with poor keepers, compromised defense and proper horrid midfield. I've now got a new threemium of Haaland, Salah, Sterling but with no compromises anywhere else. I'm so excited about tnites GW that I'm just zombie scrolling ffs all day (my off day) 🙂

      Actually the story is even better.. it was Darwin I swapped out in GW on WC.. not Kane(had bought Darwin in for GW2). That's a grand total of 80+ points difference lol. Wouldve prob got Toney in that week instead if I hadn't WC. Anyway humble brah has now ended. Cheers

      Newcastle has been great so I'm a bit off Salah.
      Haaland looks the best bet but I'm not sure about him starting. Logic says he does though(so he can rest vs villa) so it i can get over my fear before deadline I may shift the armband to him

      Undecided yet, but Jesus at the moment. If I decide later in the day that i will bring Sterling he can get an armband instead of Jesus. Of course if Pep somehow confir that Haaland gonna start then he will be a capitan.

      Currently on KDB. I think Forest will try their best to mark Haaland, leaving acres of space for KDB, like that Bournemouth game.

      Difficult to captain Salah -- Newcastle is playing like a top 6 team.

      Sterling has been historically inconsistent. Jesus is not selfish enough - he always finds someone to pass.

      I’m definitely not benching Trippier. Paid off against city and he’s a good threat with set pieces. Only negative is Newcastle don’t seem as good away from home.

    GW4 Mendy to Sanchez - Didnt want to burn an FT - Went well!
