Erling Haaland (£11.8m) was the star turn of the evening with a hat-trick and a 17-point haul, with Gameweek 5 captaincy rival Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) having to make do with two assists in Liverpool’s last-gasp 2-1 win over Newcastle United – a match in which Alexander Isak (£7.0m) scored on his Magpies debut.

Gabriel Martinelli (£6.4m) and Gabriel Jesus (£8.2m) continued their fine starts to the season with goals for Arsenal against struggling Aston Villa, while Harry Kane (£11.4m) made it four attacking returns in as many matches with an assist in Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with West Ham United.

Managerless Bournemouth, the side thrashed 9-0 by Liverpool on Saturday, managed to hold Wolverhampton Wanderers to a goalless draw: that’s now just two goals in five matches for Bruno Lage’s troops.

    I planned Cancelo > Trent as my move this week. But, I can't sell Cancelo after tonight's game. He was still not involved in attacking play but he is an amazing player; and I don't sell nailed amazing players. How do I buy Trent? Or shall I forget Trent for now and bring back James?

        That's a valid strategy in my opinion.

        Option B allows me to effectively replace Gross with Trent, and will switch to 4-3-3, the 4 defenders being Trent, Cancelo, Trippier, Saliba. Still no James though.

    Captaining Haaland and wanting Salah to blank to justify the 'correct' captain choice and 'punish' Salah captainers is peak FPL logical fallacy (which I'm guilty of myself, but it's hard to shake).

    Reality is, at my rank, Haaland with EO of ~160% and Salah at ~86% means in theory I should want them both to score as many points as possible because with every point scored by either I gain OR. Even if Salah scored more points than Haaland, I would STILL gain OR, despite the 'wrong' captain choice (just that I would have gained more OR if I had captained Salah). Also means I should have been celebrating that second assist, but here I was cursing it.

      It's still to early to judge of Top10k/100k/whatever EO...

      Salah's real EO, vs people you'll be battling at the end of the season, was over 100%.

      Use Elite 1000 as a guide for a few more GWs.

    Unsure what to do with Salah now. Still not convinced by Liverpool by any means, they've looked very poor in all of the games I've seen them against any semi-competent team and are losing the midfield battle which is hampering both attackers and defenders. I felt even against Bournemouth I couldn't captain Salah given the way they've been, that ended up being lucky but I still don't feel like I can back him with captaincy against Everton or Wolves as I can see both of those team's midfielders coming out on top. Yet still, he keeps picking up points. Do I just hold and not captain or do I move to Sterling?

      I am not selling Salah unless his ownership is Below 30 percent.

      Chelsea looked no better than pool. Equally poor. May be Rodrigo to sterling if i have budget. But not salah to sterling

      if you dont captain just sell him imo as long as extra cash gets you nice upgrades elsewhere(which it should). i am keeping and captaining next 2, poorish oppositions and haaland will not bang 17 pts every gw (famous last words 🙂 )
