Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope widget on our homepage keeps track of which Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are racking up the yellow cards and how close they are to a one-match ban.

We’ll be checking in with the latest disciplinary situation on a regular basis as the season goes on, continuing with this article.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

The one we’re concerned about right now is the five-caution mark, an unwanted target that Premier League players will have to avoid for their team’s first 19 league matches of the season.

Following the wave of postponements over the last week or so, that is no longer Gameweek 19.

Team19th fixture falls in…
ArsenalGameweek 21
Aston VillaGameweek 20
BournemouthGameweek 20
BrentfordGameweek 20
BrightonGameweek 21
ChelseaGameweek 21
Crystal PalaceGameweek 21
EvertonGameweek 20
FulhamGameweek 20
LeedsGameweek 21
LeicesterGameweek 20
LiverpoolGameweek 21
Man CityGameweek 21
Man UtdGameweek 21
NewcastleGameweek 20
Nottm ForestGameweek 20
SouthamptonGameweek 20
SpursGameweek 20
West HamGameweek 20
WolvesGameweek 20

The above will change if there are any rearrangements of the postponed fixtures before that but there are few available windows.

A reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

ON FOUR/THREE YELLOW CARDS

Scott McTominay (£4.9m) and Joao Palhinha (£5.0m) are now one booking away from a ban following cautions in Gameweek 6 but not one of the three players on four yellow cards is owned by any more than 0.3% of FPL managers.

There are two big names just one caution further back, however, in the form of Reece James (£6.0m) and Gabriel Jesus (£8.1m). There’s no need for any immediate concern of yet, of course, but they’ll have to avoid two bookings in their respective sides’ next 13 league fixtures to swerve a one-match ban.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

I’m planning on Schar and Trippier, even considering Pope too. Think they look solid, but nice and cheap .

Want to get off the expensive defenders who’ve been a big letdown so far.

Current defence: TAA - Cancelo - Perišić* - Walker* - Dunk

    Best move?

    A) Perišić –> Trippier
    B) Walker –> Dalot
    C) Walker / Perišić –> N. Williams (will have to start this GW but will ease benching headaches moving forward)

    Cheers!

      A

      Probably

Presumably Perisic plays against Marseille who are doing well.

2nd in the league I think.

Based on opponents, it's definitely A or D

Before GW1, I'd never have said D. But it's a weird season. Between them, there's no denying that Trippier currently has more routes to points, so it's Cancelo on my bench right now

Doesn't feel right, but it's 6 weeks of data: premium defenders can be benched in FPL for now, especially against top tier attacks. Adjust when the trend changes and these top clubs return to being defensive fortresses

You should consider capitalising opponents when your player is at home, and lower case when they're away.

So A is playing whu and C is bou, while B is NFO and D is TOT. That's the most commonly used differentiator between home and away fixtures, and would make it easier here to work out who should be benched.

      1. Bavarian
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

In that case, Trippier is the one to be benched

    Sanchez (Ward)
    Taa James Saliba (Neco Patterson)
    Salah Sterling Martinelli Gross (Andreas)
    Haaland Jesus Toney

2 FTs. 0.1 in the bank

Currently very happy with most of my team but i do have 2 FTs. Won't make a change until end of the week but weighing options currently.
    A) Burn transfer
    B) Ward to Iversen for the 0.1
    C) TAA to Trippier/Cancelo (ideally would want to wait and see post wolves)
    D) Toney to Mitro (Ideally would just keep Toney but mitro does have the better fixtures and frees up 0.3 .. if i did not have a spare transfer i obviously wouldn't do this)

Anything else? Not going to be selling Salah this week for sure since i dont have a WC to bail me out later.

Plan for Salah mate? Im in a similar boat to you (used WC) and I think I’ll give him the Wolves game then boot him out.

I m planning a switch Salah to Kane gw8 and captain kane v Leicester.

      2. Valar(Keith)
        • 16 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

I'm just going to keep tbh. I dont want Kane since im happy with my forwards.. I'm cooling off premium defenses.. so i might as well keep Salah. If i do sell him il just end up spending on my bench.. right now I'm happy owning a FREE bench since i have no benching headaches. So Salah stays.. banking on his class coming through.

If i do get rid and spend the cash i know il want him back in the moment his heat maps show him more central/he scores. If i had a WC available i would probably risk selling though.

Might go that way if he does well v wolves and go mitro up front instead of kane by doing a swap with taa. I'm having such a terrible start with a team which on paper should get points I'm willing to take a bit of a risk...

            3 years, 7 months ago

If you have a WC in hand then it's worth it. I used mine in gw3.. don't regret it at all since i swapped
Iversen, Cucu, Digne, Trippier, Bailey, Neto, Darwin for Sanchez, Saliba, James, Patterson, Gross, Sterling, Toney

            🙂

Don't like the idea of burning a transfer, but in your case, burning it might actually be the best play this GW.

Yup. I wish taa had a horrid fixture this week and Trippier had a good one. I can't quite justify swapping him out though. Maybe James to Trippier since James looks like conceding anyway (can always afford James back in later)

not sure I'm buying in to the rashford hype just yet, Arsenal absolutely lost their heads (thanks to some shocking substitutions), not sure he'll get that kind of space often.

on another subject, Jesus is a cause for concern. Only one haul despite the fixtures and strong all round performances. Thinking he might be the one I lose for Kane (rather than Toney, who may become Mitro).

    2FT.

    Pope
    TAA Cucu Perisic Cancelo
    Salah Martinelli Kulu DaSilva
    Haaland Jesus

    Ward Neco Andreas Greenwood

Could play Andreas home to Chelsea instead of Cucu. Got 1.2 ITB, almost want to hit the WC button but seems a shame to waste 2FT when I could sort a few issues with a -4?

Jesus, Neco, Greenwood to Mitro, Alvarez and max 4.7 defender?

Alvarez in covers any Haaland rotation?

Could also just simply to Jesus to Toney and Neco to Trippier for no hit

Or do I take Salah out and upgrade Jesus to Kane?

    Help appreciated, 2FT 0.4ITB

    Sanchez (ward)
    TAA, Robbo, Cancelo, Cucu (patterson)
    Salah, Odegaard, Neto, Zaha (andreas)
    Haaland, Jesus (stansfield)

    Robbo + Stansfield for...

    A) Dunk + Toney
    B) Dunk + Mitro --> Cucu to Trippier next
    C) Dunk + Mitro + Tripper (-4)

The only transfer I see here is Neto to Mac Allister or Aaronson

A or perhaps C for me.
Wouldn't double up with Gross and wait and see with Anthony

Done Robo to Trippier with FT. Recon should wait with WC until IB?

    Rambo
    TAA/Cancelo/Perisic/Trippier
    Salah/Martineli/Sinisterra/Gross
    Haaland/Jesus

    Ward/Neco/Pereira/Arche

Hold the Wildcard until after the break. You have a decent team
