We at Fantasy Football Scout are saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

We’re aware that not all of you will be affected by the events in the United Kingdom on Thursday afternoon but as a mark of respect for those who are, we will be suspending our content for the time being.

Understandably, there is a great deal of uncertainty over the immediate sporting schedule and we will also be awaiting further guidance from the Premier League on whether (or when) this weekend’s planned fixtures will take place.

This is promising - a government announcement ahead of the PL meeting

"The decision as to whether sporting fixtures continue to go ahead is at the discretion of organisers. Organisers may wish to consider using black armbands and observing a silence before matches are played."

BREAKING: The UK government has told football leagues that games can GO AHEAD this weekend — but has left the decision in the hands of governing bodies

Senior football officials are inclined to cancel.

Personally i think they should play this weekend but not next Sunday.

Nothing will happen on the day of the funeral itself.

I think there's a bit more fondness here for the Queen since she visited, maybe not so much in the 6 counties. Not saying that's a lot of fondness but definitely it is when compared to Irish people's opinions of Thatcher. I liked Thatcher, in a way. She was hard-nosed, not PC and schooled most of her male parliamentary colleagues without an empathetic bone in her body.

Hi guys! Any thougths on replacing Richarlison for Maupay in a 7 men draft league? Would you keep the brazilian? My other two strikers are Haaland and Johnson (who is a regular starter, on the pens and has really good fixtures coming up). The waiver deadline is near, I appreciate any opinion. And of course, condolences to all british users from Hungary.

      What's next youth football ?
Rather than have kids running, socialising and staying healthy we going to tell them there's no game this Sunday ?
Go and sit in your room.

      Ridiculous.

I understand that different people have different views on Queen\Royal family - let everyone do what they feel like should be doing.
You want to mourn ? Fine.
You want to go to\play\watch football? That's fine too.

Simple - let the individuals be free and decide for themselves.

How complex? If there was a pitch waterlogged the day of a game it'd be done within a few hours of kickoff. 24 hours is plenty.

Even if we disregard the away fans (like most people, especially governing bodies and broadcasters, tend to do) who have paid for travel and accommodation already with little chance of seeing refunds, you've also got the difficult job of placing an extra 20 fixtures into a massively congested football calendar somewhere down the line.

True true, they should compensate anyone for accomadation paid. The PL should foot that bill. DGW is great though! Only joking. It'll be tight and possibly midweek home European games to reschedule too.

Cancelling isn’t complex whatsoever, it’s the rearranging that’s the issue.

We have had games cancelled for COVID with very little warning, cancelled for weather (with fans in the ground already) and many other instances. There’s very little thought of cancelling games barring the cost of it all.

Very complex. Not much wiggle room for individual fixtures to be rearranged into future weeks with the World Cup, let alone whole GWs. Plus transport (plans for which would've already been made and paid for) and security/policing being available etc etc.

I'm still working but really hard to focus today. It feels very weird and a lot of my clients are old accountants, so don't really want to call them today as they may be too upset to want to talk.

I don't either, but I respect the fact that many people, including people I've worked with for decades, will have been in tears about this last night. One of the women I work with called her sister last night (both in their late 20's) and her sister could barely talk she was so choked up.

So, yes, some people genuinely will be devastated today, hard though it may be to believe.

The guidance says some business owners and event organisers may wish to consider closing or postponing events, especially on the day of the state funeral, depending on the nature and tone, but there is no obligation to do so.

On sporting, cultural and other entertainment events, the guidance is that any cancellations are at the discretion of organisers. It adds: “As a mark of respect,
organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral. They are under no obligation to do so and this is entirely at the discretion of individual organisations.”

If events do go ahead on the day of the funeral, the government suggests that organisations may want to adjust the event timings so they do not clash with the timings of the funeral service and associated processions.

It adds: “As a mark of respect,
and in keeping with the tone of national mourning, organisers may wish to hold a period of silence and/or play the National Anthem at the start of events or sporting fixtures, and players may wish to wear black armbands.”
