Who are the best player picks for Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL)?

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Sam, Neale, Tom and Az each have their own ideas ahead of Friday’s deadline, revealing their thoughts below.

The postponement of three Premier League matches and the absence of Messrs Salah, Alexander-Arnold, Diaz, James et al means there is a smaller pool of players to choose from, so we’ve got more consensus selections than usual – especially up front.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

In this series, our four resident writers each propose an 18-man squad of Fantasy players with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek.

Their selections serve as a long list for the Scout Picks, as the players nominated will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for our final weekly selection ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

Really tempted to keep the dreaded Ward/Iversen double up so I can afford this WC team…

    Ward - Iversen

    Cancelo - James - Trippier - Neco - Emerson

    KDB - Maddison - Martinelli - Andreas - Bailey

    Haaland - Kane - Mitrovic

What do we reckon the Spurs team will be for this week?

    Lloris
    Romero Dier Lenglet
    Emerson Hojbjerg Bentancur Perisic
    Kulusevski Kane Richarlison

Controversially think Son might dropped. He's looked off. Richarlison has been pretty good and this gives him a chance to play off the left. Kulu needs to start after that poor display midweek.

    1. AWOL-Ekotto
      • 15 Years
      4 years, 4 days ago

Emerson fatiqued could mean he’s out. Conte could
Deploy Kulu as RWB and avoid benching any of the front three or alternatively play Spence.

I think Sess will start this week. Perisic playing 90+ is unusual. No sure.

I watched him play and thought that he looked energetic but I was not certain that he would deliver much in FPL terms. 2 goals and 2 BP in six games with WHU MUN TOT in the next 4 but I suppose there isn't much else at this price point.

I think this season has so far emphasised the importance of targeting talismen (Mitrovic, Zaha, Kane, Haaland)

He could be Everton's, particularly as the season progresses. Ultimately, he's cheap with decent fix. Not a big deal if he fails as there's not much in the way of competitors in our midfields

      1. Andy_Social
        • 14 Years
        4 years, 4 days ago

Don't see him as their talisman. That'll be DCL when he's back. Don't think his stats are impressive either - Bailey is better value.

        1. Camzy
          • 16 Years
          4 years, 4 days ago

          His stats are impressive.

He has 13 shots all in the box which is far and away the best of all mids 6.0m and lower. He plays as an inside-forward now and not a winger like last year.

I think he's a very good pick. Just a bit unsexy because he plays for Everton.

    5. FOO FIGHTER
      • 7 Years

      Decent stats for a cheap

    6. Crunchie

Thing is with Gordon, yes he is their talisman, but is in a poor side, so fewer opportunities to score points.

With Mitro, Haaland, Kane, and even Zaha they still have good players, playing around them.

Apart from the improvement at the back, I don't see Everton particularly threatening

      1. Ser Davos
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 4 days ago

        Toney's another talisman

I agree with your assessment. Not convinced, but he does facilitate KDB and Kane for those of us v unconvinced by Maddison/Bowen

Bowen wouldn't. Maddison has great fixtures and is playing pretty well (in a poor team, admittedly), Patterson is a playing 4.1 def who would be sub most weeks anyway.
