Who are the best player picks for Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL)?

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Sam, Neale, Tom and Az each have their own ideas ahead of Friday’s deadline, revealing their thoughts below.

The postponement of three Premier League matches and the absence of Messrs Salah, Alexander-Arnold, Diaz, James et al means there is a smaller pool of players to choose from, so we’ve got more consensus selections than usual – especially up front.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

In this series, our four resident writers each propose an 18-man squad of Fantasy players with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek.

Their selections serve as a long list for the Scout Picks, as the players nominated will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for our final weekly selection ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

Does Kulu start over Son this weekend?

the obvious move for those planning on WC next week is Salah to Son/Kulu but unfortunately we cant trust either to start, Son might be benched for Kulu, Son might start to regain his form against a poor defence, both could start with Kulu wingback or maybe both start up top and Rich drops out....I personally cant take the risk

    Bottomed:
ASM looking like the perfect differential.

'If' fit the casuals won't have as is flagged/risky - but if fit could come in and do the business in what looks to be the tastiest fixture. Think Isak up front in concert will add to attacking returns as well.

4th and 5th defender. One starter this week and one bench

    A) Perisic and Emerson
    B) Coufal and Fofana (+0.7m ITB for KDB -> Salah)

Close according to FPLstats, realistically probably won't given lots of players have been down to rise or fall and they haven't with a lot of chips in play but can't be sure. Might need to think about making the move for him tonight myself

    Pope
    Cancelo, Trippier, Neco

Saka can easily become Zaha next week or after the Chelsea game.

I don't know, but Brentford away is probably still seen as a tough fixture. I also sold Raya, which means clean sheet is more likely than ever.

I think I’m going to go for Saka on my WC this week. Brentford have been pretty gun-ho so I expect an Arsenal goal or two

  9. KieranKA

Considering an early move to avoid Archer price drop. 2 FT, 0.5 ITB

    Ward // Sánchez**
Cancelo James** Saliba // Trent** Robertson**
Salah** Martinelli Neto Andreas // Groß**
    Kane(C) Jesus Archer

    Current plan: Trent + Salah + Archer --> Trippier + Foden + Haaland (–4).

Any alternatives to Foden? Haaland or Kane captain?

    1. Nomar
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 16 Years

I would sell Robertson and Groß.

That will free up plenty of cash for you to get players with great fixtures this week and you should be able to put out 10 without a points hit.

If you want to take a hit for Haaland then fair enough, but you can certainly get 10 good playing options this week without taking a hit.

      Undecided at the minute.

I'm either doing TAA & Salah to Trippier & KDB or keeping Salah and doing TAA & Fofana to Trippier & Cancelo.

I used my WC and dropped Cancelo for Dias a few weeks back.

I’m planning to WC over the IB and I plan to keep Salah and sell Trent for Trippier tonight.

I don’t see much gain at the moment in selling Salah and as a Haaland and Cancelo owner I don’t have any pressing need or desire for any other City players so I’m quite happy to stick with Mo.

If Arsenal do well home to Spurs and Liverpool playing at Anfield against Brighton in gw9 at 3pm next Saturday...

Imagine logging onto FPL after the international to find you have triple Newcastle, a dud Leicester midfielder, a WHU defender & unproven forward and you still also have Neco, Andreas & Bailey on your bench ... you then desperately go for your WC only to remember that you actually used it to bring in triple Newcastle, a dud Leicester midfielder, a WHU defender & unproven forward and you still also have Neco, Andreas & Bailey on your bench 😉

        this is also overblown.

So there will be some injuries but you wouldn't apply the same logic to 2 league fixtures for your squad.

I guess the 1 less FT is the point here?

      I hear you.

My issue with WC in GW13 is there’s only 3 GWs till the World Cup where you get another free WC that everyone will be using.

I view the WC as a way to set my team up for a long run of games. If I WC this IB I at least get to set the majority of my team for the next 7 GWs.

By GW13 I probably will have transferred in most of the players I’d have wanted in GW9 WC so to me it would now be a wasted WC. Plus there’s price rises to consider.

Up to you, though, as your team is better than mine, so I have more spaces to fill.

Yeah this is it. I thought world Cup break was gw18. But is actually gw16. So 3 weeks with the wildcard team feel like a bit of a waste.

But with so many strong picks I may never be in a position to hit the button.

If I wildcard in the break I'd hit the button tomorrow and prob make some decent money

Diaz dias lavia dunk? Kane would prob all go.

Would prefer kdb to kane I think

Team above would actually be trippier not perisic. And he is another strong one to keep

Yes, prices will rise over the IB, which could affect what you will be able to do in GW13. This is one of the drivers pushing me to WC next GW.

The other is that I have Raya and Ward as my keepers, so I feel that needs to change sooner rather than later.

I have 2 FT this week and really only need to make one move to field 11 this GW, so I could just make one and save 2 for the IB.

But, if I don’t use it now then, realistically, when else will I use it that will be of the maximum value for me?

It looks good to me but I always like a differential in mine.

Cheers. I am half tempted to go Foden and Bowen over KDB and Gordon

Got to be Pope as GK. Raya fixtures turn

That’s a good point. If you want to keep the 4.5 price then maybe Guaita with the forthcoming Palace fixtures.

Raya is one of the reasons I’m going to WC next week and look to get Pope in.

Ignoring price which 2 would you pick up on WC?
    1. Andreas
    2. Paqueta
    3. Gibbs-White
    4. Bailey
    5. Coutinho

Andreas & Bailey/Gibbs-White. Rest is not worth to consider.

I would actually go 1 and 2 as well.

Paquetá is an easy transfer out if he doesn’t go well.

Dilemma, which option you will choose ?
    A) Foden & Barnes
    B) Bilva & Maddison

And I have dilemma also about goalkeeper:
    A) Pope (also have Trippier)
    B) Martinez (to gw11 and change for Jose Sa)
    C) Guaita and play him until GW 17

KdB Son Maddison Bailey ¦ Pereira
    Haaland Isak Mitrovic

Coufal over Zouma. Otherwise not bad as a threemium

I’d want enough ITB to bring Salah in for KDB

Is Da Silva OUT - Andreas IN worth a -4?

To give context it will likely be a -8 in total if I do it as I will be transferring TAA out for a defender as well.

Not if they will be bench fodder most weeks.

I would likely only start Andreas this week and probably gw12. So that is probably a no.
DaSilva is annoying seems busy when given a chance from the bench. But not likely to get more than 20 minutes now so Andreas probably has to get at least 5 v NFO to make the -4 count.
