The news that many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers had been expecting and possibly fearing arrived on Saturday evening.

It’s now been confirmed that Reece James (£6.0m) faces two months on the sidelines with the knee injury he picked up in last week’s clash with AC Milan.

That will not only put him out of domestic action until Gameweek 17 but also very likely the World Cup, too.

A Chelsea club statement read:

“Following the knee injury sustained in our away match against AC Milan, Reece has received treatment from the Chelsea medical department and visited a specialist this weekend.

fter consultation between all parties, Reece will now undergo a rehabilitation programme and is expected to be out for eight weeks.”

    Chelsea FCs grammar is appalling.

Maddison’s yellow messing things up for me and plenty of others. I’m thinking of a few solutions - one more explosive for GW12 and the others maybe better for 13 onwards

    A) James, Maddison, Foden > Guehi, Almiron (or other sub 6.2), Salah (c) -4
    B) James, Maddison > Guehi, Zaha (free, play 10)
    C) Same as B but sell Foden one week for -4 then bring him back for 13

    2FT 0.9ITB
    Pope
    Trippier Perisic Neco
    Andreas Gordon
    Kane Mitro

Ward James Maddison Foden Martinelli Haaland Cancelo

    Cheers

Thinking Haaland, Cancelo and Martinelli til bench this week, and money/a way to get Foden in GW 13.

Threemium hasn’t been the way to go but I think Salah, Kane and Haaland could be a good way to go before World Cup, especially as the template defence is getting so cheap

There are very few matches which suggest goals and big hauls.

There are much more clean sheet possibilities.

A good defence, good captain option you could do as well with 7 players as 11.

Strongly thinking KDB to Salah for GW12 even though he's blank today. Liverpool fixtures will start to turn good and he got NFO soon for captaincy but hopefully today we can decide whether if he's still playing out wide or not

Surprised so many on here are contemplating a free hit next week.

Sure the likes of James and Maddison being out is less that ideal. But the chip is much too valuable to use as an alternative to a -8 or only fielding 10 players.

With inevitable blanks or doubles in the future, I think taking a red arrow now and holding the chip is by far the better long term move.

    1. Teror
      • 11 Years

I'll have 7 players out so can't help but FH. I still have my WC but I was planning to use that in 13 and I know I'll want three arse and three citeh so it's just not an option to use WC now

      1. Gubby-Allen
        • 4 Years

Why not WC now, keep Cancelo, Haaland and Martinelli as your bench, maybe one more Arsenal and play 10.

Then buy back Saka/Foden next week?

I am not sure who the three Arsenal you need that much are? Martinelli and Saka if you are doubling, but they will probably concede in the next 3 GWs and Jesus will be suspended for one.

I know. My team is currently
      Ward
      Anderson, Perisic
      Trossard, Zaha
      Wilson

      One FT.

That is it, i would jump at 30 points, a free hit would probably get me 50 pts.

Last season it got me 140 and with faiirly average individual scores when broken down.

I think I'm going to have to free hit this week. With maddison's suspension I have 7 players out. Had to spend an FT on James due to injury instead of building towards the blank. Sad times but what to do.

I would think hard before using FH, just me. I would, without looking at your team, go for a WC. Yes you will not have the highest upside but overall the WC will only get to GW16. Would be good to compare and contrast.

Pope, Trippier, Dier, Gross, Andreas, Toney are my assured starters. Nico is a question mark. also hesitant to take a hit because I'll be wildcarding in 13. Too short term for hits

If you are wildcarding in 13 you are in a strong position

I am not sure WC13 have much more advantage after taking -8 or -12 in GW12 ... haven't looked at it in detail, just not sure the upper hand is that high

Hm. You know what I was looking at my team now and if I WC this week I can get 10 players out and then in 13 I take one hit and I'm at the WC team I wanted anyway. Will probably do that now.

    3. RealSocialDads
      • 9 Years

I don't like the free hit... Im in exact same boat as you and have played my wildcard this week. Here's my reasoning:

WC gives me full 11 this week, whereas I'd have to take hits to have less than 11 playing.

I want 3 City 3 arsenal from 13 onwards, I can get to 5 of these with a hit, then use FT for the 6th in 14.

To me it makes so much sense to WC now, get a fairly good team for the blank, then immediately get city/arsenal in afterwards, rather than scramble through 12.

For ref, my current WC team is

      Guaita
      Trippier Castagne Guehi Dunk
      Salah Andreas Bowen Tross
      Mitro Wilson

      Ward Haaland Martinelli Cancelo

Thoughts on the below for a -4 (will have 10 starters)

    A. Maddison > Trossard
    B. Patterson > Koulibaly / Cucu / Castagne

Could take a -8 but would mean transferring Foden, only to likely get him back.

Same as me- see below. Probably take -4 for 10. I got in Castagne for Patterson pre price drop last night and contemplating-4 for Trossard

        Benching Haaland, Cancelo and Martinelli
selling Jesus and Foden and W/c gm13 only 0.1 loss

Would you FH if your team is currently this? I do have 2FT so KDB Maddison can become Salah Trossard (but would prefer the former ones week after probalby...)

    Sanchez
Trippier Neco (Patterson, James, Cancelo all out)
Bowen Pereira (KDB, Maddison, Martinelli all out)
    Toney Mitro (Haaland out)

    1. Eze Really?

Don't use your FH and possibly spoil your week. Fixtures not great to profit from it. Move Patterson James Maddi -8 tp players you want until GW16. Only costing 2 points each transfer really and you might profit from it. Just my view.

No, sell James and Patterson for Palace/Brighton/Liverpool defenders, for - 4.

9 players, good clean sheet chances.

You will be fine, other than a difficult captain choice.

Worth -4 for Maddison to Trossard and play 10? Next week would use free transfer on Trossard to Saka and have 3 City and 2 Arsenal players

    Pope
    Trippier Doherty Guehi Castagne
    Maddison * Zaha Andreas
    Kane Mitrovic Haaland *

    Ward Martinelli* Cancelo* Foden*

Just do a -8 to field 11. Given the four you’d move will score 0 you’d hope in an ideal world that it wouldn’t cost any points assuming you get 4 lots of two points. Anything else is a bonus. Then WC GW13 with 3xMan City 3xArsenal.
