We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Tuesday’s fixtures in our Scout Notes summary.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL and our own Premium Members area, where you can access Opta player and team data for every single Premier League fixture.

Brighton’s winless run under new boss Roberto De Zerbi continued in Gameweek 12, as they failed to score for the third consecutive match. In an absolutely textbook performance, Albion dominated and had plenty of efforts on goal, yet there was no end product, like at Brentford on Friday.

“In my experience in the Premier League it’s not the first time my team play like this and we can’t win. I don’t want to speak about whether it’s unfair or unlucky. I say thanks to the players. Today I enjoyed a lot. I watched a very fantastic game. We shoot 20 times, we have a lot of chances. We have to work in the last 20 metres to choose the best solution. We have to attack the space better, to work in the last pass.” – Roberto De Zerbi

Leandro Trossard (£6.9m), now owned by over 20 per cent of managers, lined up at left wing-back in De Zerbi’s 3-4-2-1, but carried a threat, often cutting inside onto his stronger right foot. The Belgian saw a powerful effort rattle the crossbar and was twice denied by good saves from Dean Henderson (£4.7m).

Above: Brighton’s average position map v Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 12. Number 11, Leandro Trossard, accumulated more final-third touches (44) than any player from either side

Their defence, meanwhile, has now kept four clean sheets this season – only Manchester City have more (five). In three of those matches, Lewis Dunk (£4.6m) has received bonus.

However, owners of Brighton’s assets will now need to bench or sell them, with games against Man City and Chelsea to come.

As for Nottingham Forest, they showed good discipline at the back but no real quality in the final-third. They have only scored seven goals all season, with just one arriving in their last four matches.

A more reserved approach has seen them tighten up, however, with Neco Williams’ (£4.1m) owners celebrating an unlikely clean sheet in Gameweek 12. The Welshman’s attacking threat has dried up since Forest shifted to a 4-3-3, but his positional versatility was on show at the Amex, as he lined up at left-back until Serge Aurier (£4.5m) departed.

“Every point is valuable, so is a clean sheet and tonight the boys were warriors. Every man ran their socks off. I’m so proud of them all. We’ve conceded a lot of goals so far this season so the manager said we need to stop that and build on that foundation. In the last couple of games I haven’t been that busy but I was tonight.” – Dean Henderson

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster; March, Mac Allister, Caicedo, Trossard; Gross (Undav 85), Lallana (Lamptey 64); Welbeck

Nottingham Forest XI: Henderson; Aurier (Toffolo 69, Biancone 86), Cook, McKenna, Williams; Yates, Freuler, Mangala (Kouyate 61); Gibbs-White, Lingard (Worrall 86), Johnson (Awoniyi 86)

In his past four league outings prior to Gameweek 12, Wilfried Zaha (£7.5m) hadn’t hit the heights his owners were probably expecting from him, delivering a solitary assist against Leeds United.

However, after the break on Tuesday, he was unplayable at times, with his well-taken winner capping Crystal Palace’s comeback.

At home, Zaha has now produced either a goal or assist in four of his six appearances, with 16 of his 21 shots inside the box arriving on home turf.

“I took it upon myself to move from left-wing and float a bit. It opened up room for Tyrick [Mitchell]. It made a confusion in their defence, who to go to, and that opened them up a bit.” – Wilfried Zaha

“In the second-half he [Zaha] came to play between the lines, he was a bit more central and that allowed him to combine with other players and that was better for us.” – Patrick Vieira

Above: Wilfried Zaha’s touch heatmap v Wolves in Gameweek 12 (left) and v Leicester City in Gameweek 11 (right)

Eberechi Eze (£5.6m) also impressed, as he produced his second double-figure haul in three matches. Just six of his 17 shots have arrived inside the box this season, yet it’s hard to argue against the value he is offering, given that he has also created 16 chances, more than any teammate.

For Wolves, they are now winless in 10 successive Premier League away matches.

At Selhurst Park, they handed two full debuts to Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) and Boubacar Traore (£4.5m), with the former producing an excellent assist for Adama Traore’s (£5.5m) opener. It remains to be seen if Bueno has done enough to keep his place, but if he can, he is one to monitor given his £3.9m price tag.

“We’d been talking about him [Adama Traore] getting to the back post. He’s doing that now. It [the goal] was the best move of the game for us. Excellent goal. It could have been different if we stated the second half better.

Hugo [Bueno] had a fantastic debut. He was excellent. He came as a kid from Spain as a 10 and we converted him to wing-back. Full-back today. Rayan [Ait-Nouri] was ill so we made a late situation change. He didn’t let anyone down.” – Steve Davis

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Doucoure, Schlupp, Eze (Riedewald 90); Olise (Ayew 80), Zaha, Edouard (Mateta 81)

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI: Sa; Semedo, Collins, Kilman, Bueno; B Traore (Moutinho 58), Neves; A Traore (Guedes 58), Nunes (Hodge 58), Podence; Costa (Hwang 75)

If you believe Zaha will outscore Saka in the run ... Toney and Mitro could be on par ...

With hindsight, I should've stuck to the original plan, pick Gomez instead of Guehi for the next 2 games and then reassess a situation. I'm an expert on how to waste an opportunity.

There are so many players I want on WC this week ...
    - Kane Mitro Toney Jesus Haaland
    - Salah Saka Zaha Mount Foden Martinelli

Looks like Kane has to give way with Liverpool at Forest and really needing to keep Salah for that game and I am tempted to settle for this in a 343 although tempted to upgrade Mitro to Jesus

    Toney Mitro Haaland
    Martinelli Foden Mount Salah

So ... which two of Jesus, Toney or Mitro (ignoring value) to go for ?

    A - Jesus Haaland Toney
    B - Mitro Haaland Toney
    C - Jesus Haaland Mitro

    1. Going Home

I’m avoiding Jesus while he remains one YC away from suspension

        3 years, 9 months ago

        Toney is also 1YC away.

Not necessarily a problem (depends on your risk appetite), but it's why I'm still not ruling out keeping Kane over Salah. Alternative and different risk is a front line of

        Haaland Mitro Darwin/Firmino

Mitro Solanke as Toney Jesus both on 4YC

    3. Hotdogs for Tea

      3 years, 9 months ago

Toney & Saliba on 4 yellows in my current team and Jesus is now off the table for me.

Think this pushes me to Mitro Kane & Haaland up top and White in for Saliba. Losing value (only if I want them back and in reality it's banking the price increase) but I don't think it leaves my team any weaker

Means downgrading somewhere so maybe Mount
(only brought him in for the price rise and really worried about rotation) goes down to a 5mill player and perhaps a punt for a few weeks on Harvey Elliot (let's see if he starts again) for the easy Liverpool fixtures with Diaz and Jota out.

Will play the price rises for the time being and move Salah on in a few weeks maybe to get a better balanced team.

      Thanks all

My planned moves for this week Trossard Zaha > Saka Foden. Decided to hang onto Kane. Will see what happens later with him.

    Henderson Ward
    Trippier Gabriel Saliba Andersen Neco
    Salah Foden Saka Almiron Dasilva
    Haaland Kane Wilson

Might do Kane to Darwin or Firmino to free up cash for Cancelo pending his performance vs UTD.

Have the same thought like everyone else it feels like to squeeze Foden and Saka in, but not sure the best way to get there and would appriciate any advice.

    Pope, Ward
    Cancelo, Trippier, Webster, Guehi, Justin
    Salah, Martinelli, Zaha, Trossard, Sinisterra
    Haaland, Mitro, Solanke

Trossard is a easy sell ofcourse but then?

    A) easy route, just make Trossard+Zaha -> Foden+Saka in gw 13 and be done

    B) Trossard for Foden/Saka gw13, sell Salah gw 14 and get the other and also get ~6.0 itb that i can upgrade maybe Solanke to Kane/Toney and cash to upgrade other positions with

    C) Trossard to Foden/Saka and downgrading Pope to Raya/Guaita for cash so i then can make Sinisterra to Foden/Saka in gw 14

As totally expected I’ve just wasted a FT getting Trossard.
Now, is Foden a priority over Saka? Have Martinelli as well.

Thinking of the below moves would mean a -4, wait a week or take the hit?

    Trossard > Saka
    Mitro > Darwin/Firmino

    Pope

    Cancelo / Trippier / Castagne

    Foden / Zaha / Saka / Maddison / Martinelli

    Kane / Haaland / Mitro

    Iversen | Andreas | Guehi | Webster

Keep mitro for fixtures. Forest defending deep, won't be a goal fest

    Thoughts on this WC?

    Raya Ward
    Cancelo Trippier Perisic White Neco
    Saka Martinelli Foden Zaha Andreas
    Kane Halland Mitrovic

Kepa is the best keeper on wildcard

Good if you're happy to go without Pool. I'm om

      Kepa, Ward
      TAA, Cancelo, Trippier, Perisic (Patterson)
      Salah, Foden, Martinelli, Saka (Andreas)
      Haaland, Mitro (4.3)

So the main difference Salah & TAA in for Kane, Zaha

The concept of having Salah and Halland in a squad is pointless. Salah is so overpriced unless you captain him.

agree to an extent, he is still good with those fixtures even after the WC. I think you keep him if you can afford 3 ARS and Citeh main guns

Depends how well both him and the cheaper options do.

Generally yes I agree but play the fixtures ... if you think Salah can haul big time against Forest then bring him in and move him on after ... points are point no matter who scores them

Salah is so lowly owned this year that his points are not actually "points for everyone", but rather a differential, be it as a captain or non captain. Also, mid priced forwards and mids are doing great this year, so the Salah's price is not handicaping you to have a great team

Any improvement ideas for this WC team? 0.0itb

    Kepa
    TAA Cancelo White
    Salah Foden Saka Martinelli
    Haaland Mitrovic Scamacca

    Ward Trippier Andreas Neco

Not tempted by double pool attack for one of those strikers?

My bus team WC is this ... not too different

      Kepa
      Trippier Cancelo White
      Salah Foden Elliot Martinelli
      Haaland Mitrovic Kane

      Ward Guehi Andreas Kilman

Would like to sell Salah for Diaz when fit and upgrade everywhere but until then Salah is hard to ignore with the fixtures

Bringing in Auba for Toney GW10 was easily the worst transfer of my season so far. Options I am considering now are:

    A) Firmino (have Salah)
    B) Kane

A also enables switching out Trossard to Saka or Foden whereas B cleanse me out.

The other alternative ofcourse is to keep Auba for Brentford but not keen.

That was my original plan but see the toon being a tight game. Bournemouth after I suppose (who are on form).
