I had same keepers but do you not worry next round when they play against each other, so you don’t have 2 chances of a clean sheet and can only pick one keeper? I changed noppert to Simon

    Best 12th man to use?

Have mbappe, messi, rich, Bruno, olmo, asensio

Thinking maybe ronaldo but he has been awful so far. Giroud but not guaranteed to start same with Morata?

    Any advice?

France Brazil Argentina probably ok. Think USA could win v Netherlands so too risky to get 4 and Morocco capable of surprising Spain

      1. Louis_Sans_Balls
        • 7 Years

you really think USA can beat Netherlands? Based off of what exactly? only 2 goals scored thus far against the likes of Wales and Iran. Their best player is coming in with a knock. I agree Netherlands has not been that impressive either and I do expect it to be tight but USA to win?

I think France Brazil and Argentina safer if wanting to pick 4 players- it has been a tournament of surprises and just have feeling USA might do it. Apart from Gakpo not looked that impressive

I'm not playing this time, but from the experience of previous Fantasy World Cups I would say that if you want to win then you have to take risks and hope they come off.
You won't win by playing safe, so unless you're satisfied with a mid-table position then it's usually better to decide which teams to back and select the maximum number of players from them, especially when we get to the last stages of the competition.

Morata. Don't rate him. Has had more false dawns than a Vicar of Dibley fancy dress party.

Maybe Messi, his form isn't good, though difficult to pick anyone over him, maybe Richarlison.

      1. Louis_Sans_Balls

I agree but it's hard to pass up against the Aussies, Rich is a good option against SK if he starts, almost forgot about him after last match

Spain are playing Morocco who'll be physical with them. Pick the player on form, not the player against seemingly easy opposition. Plenty of upsets so far and there'll be a few more before the competition finishes.

Senegal is champion of Africa. England is good as a team but lack a goalgetter you can rely on in fantasy. Kane is good but I think Richarlison, Messi and Mbappe have easier fixtures.

Yeah everyone picking him but the most recent update I can see is:

“Alex Sandro felt pain in his left hip and was unable to continue the match. He was re-evaluated this morning. We had an MRI scan that showed a muscle lesion at the left hip.

He will not be able to play in the next game against Cameroon and will continue to be treated so that he can recover as soon as possible.”

      Switzerland AET.

Japan. Croatia looked poor against a limited Belgium team. If you can limit Modric's influence it's half the battle.

      Both good matches!

I would say Portugal and Croatia but would not be too surprised if it goes either way or maybe even comes down to pens.

I would say Croatia is the safer bet as now is when they like to turn it up but don't rule out the home field advantage for Japan.

        Most likely winners

        Argentina
        Brazil
        France
        Portugal

Probably win but closer to call ( with the teams I think have more of a chance of losing at bottom)
        England

        Netherlands

I wish, but I can't see the stubborn Southgate dropping Mount for an important game. He loves how Mount runs around like a headless chicken doing nothing.

      He won't use Foden as a 10

Wow I haven't posted here in a few seasons. I gave up on EPL fantasy because it was too stressful and ruined some of my enjoyment of the game.... but some friends convinced me to do WC fantasy! At the top of the league right now.

    Anyways....

No one talking about Acuna? He looked so lively last game and has started the last two. Also cheap. I think he's a great pick.

tough one to choose. I mean there could be some dillemas from 1 day to another whether to switch cpt or not. For eg. I stayed with Gakpo but I was confidering Messi and later Musiala.

I feel like between Messi, Richarlison and Mbappe it shouldn't be too hard to pick the right captain in this round, assuming you can still change it once. I dunno if it's worth using. Could always be some crazy performances we didn't expect though!

Right but you can only change once and you're assuming it will be the obvious choice these last 2 MDs have shown us that it's not always the case, also potential for a big haul. But I agree Finals is also a good option too.

This looks like the last round for big scores then I expect more defensive displays.

      I'm playing mine now.

Cheers. Forgot about Alba. Getting on now but still a threat. Have Trippier and Cancelo. Dumfries a let down so far in attacking stakes. I like Hernandez but not his CS potential.

They've conceded to Australia and in other 2 group games.

I’d only go Marq and Thiago for brazil even though they probably won’t get any attacking points. Only 2 that are nailed to start because of injuries to the full backs

Is a clean sheet definitely 90mins in knockout stages?
Think in previous competitions it has been 120mins.

FIFA FF does not do 'definitely'! I think it's 120 mins too. Should nearly get 10 points for that if a CS is 60 mins or more.

When is Neymar likely to be back? Brazil not the same without him.

Just realised power captain picks the highest scoring player and captains them.....thought it was like the old triple captain

It's ideal for me. My magnet keyboard will pick two awful captains.

Thinking of it myself, not sure who else to go for assuming you have the big 3 up front in Mbappe, Messi and Rich

Worth taking a punt on Shaqiri? Switzerland could easily take the game to Portugal

I really wanna Dump Dumfries but can't seem to find another good option, another attacking type FB, bonus if they have an easier fixture

I got rid cos his attacking potential not great so far. Dunno about attacking potential but kept Cancelo, Sosa and got Alba, Otamendi and Maguire. Would prefer Trippier but seems Walker likely to start and Shaw to keep the LB spot.

Cos I'm still not sure Trippier won't play LB and Maguire is a threat from set pieces.

Foden if you're fairly sure that he'll start.

I'd be wrong person to ask in that case, more risk averse. Got Bellingham because he looks more likely to start than Foden, possibly playing number 10 with Henderson and Rice mids. I think Fernandez has more threat than Di Maria and Australia not such a great tie for Argentina who aren't in great form.

    Power Captain.
    Noppert
    Otamendi, Sosa, Alba, Maguire

    Klaasen, Zielinski, Bellingham

    Messi, Mbappe, Gakpo

    Alisson, Ziyech, Bruno, Cancelo

so you're going Gakpo over Rich? Why?

      1. GreennRed

More consistent in the 3 games and Brazil have plenty of attacking threats that could take some of Rich's points share.
