The Premier League transfer window has reopened for a month and players are already on the move up and down the country.

While our sister site, Fantasy Football Community, will cover all things speculative in the Rumour Mill, we will report only on the confirmed deals that go through.

More specifically, weโ€™ll be asking what each transfer means from a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective.

The most significant players on the move will be the subject of their own dedicated Scout Report but all the other transfers will be covered in summaries throughout January, starting with this one.

Youโ€™ll also find all the major deals in list form on our dedicated Transfers page.

LATEST FPL SCOUT REPORTS

*An in-depth Mykhailo Mudryk Scout Report will follow later tonight

FPL TRANSFER ROUND-UP

Alex Moreno (Real Betis to Aston Villa, ยฃ13m)

Aston Villa’s first signing under Unai Emery is attacking left-back Alex Moreno (ยฃ4.5m). The 29-year-old bagged five goals and four assists for Real Betis last season and has already registered 80 Premier League minutes after replacing Lucas Digne (ยฃ4.6m) in Gameweek 20.

Moreno’s passes (successful in green) during his debut, using Members Area data

Should the shoulder pain linger for Digne, Moreno is immediately thrust onto the FPL radar at a decent price. However, after first facing Southampton (a) and Leicester City (h), he will have to face the league’s top two on consecutive weekends.

Mario Lemina (Nice to Wolverhampton Wanderers, ยฃ9m)

Gabonese international midfielder Mario Lemina (ยฃ4.5m) makes a quick return to English shores after agreeing to leave Nice for Wolves. He played 17 minutes versus West Ham United on Saturday.

In 2017, Lemina arrived at Southampton for a club record ยฃ15.4m fee from Juventus but, after two seasons, was sent out on loan spells to Galatasaray and Fulham.

As a defensive midfielder, his FPL impact has been understandably low. Three goals and four assists have arrived during a trio of Premier League campaigns, none of which exceeded a total of 58 points.

Danilo (Palmeiras to Nottingham Forest, ยฃ18m)

Maintaining the momentum of two successive league wins, Nottingham Forest have decided to fend off competition from Chelsea in the arms race by securing their 24th post-promotion signing.

21-year-old Danilo (ยฃ4.5m) has recently been linked with a series of high-profile clubs but opted to join fellow January acquisition Gustavo Scarpa (ยฃ5.0m) in swapping Palmeiras for Forest.

A central midfielder, Danilo is low on goal involvement but was part of the Brazilian side’s recent successes in winning two Copa Libertadores trophies and the 2022 Serie A title.

Carlos Alcaraz (Racing Club to Southampton, ยฃ12m)

Finally, Southampton have followed up the signing of experienced Croatian attacker Mislav Orsic (ยฃ5.5m) by purchasing 20-year-old Argentina Carlos ‘Charly’ Alcaraz (ยฃ5.0m) from Racing Club.

Nathan Jones hadn’t planned on thrusting him into action so soon but he was handed half an hour during Saturday’s comeback win at Everton, suggesting he won’t be loaned out and is a player for now.

The Saints remain bottom of the league but avoid facing any of the top six between Gameweeks 21 and 26. If Alcaraz can repeat his rate of 13 goals from 83 matches, he will play a big part in their survival bid.

    Andreas hold or Brighton mid?

Thoughts on Almiron had for a good while but output dropped & Bruno injury & others stealing his points?

Am holding Andreas as it seems a waste of precious transfer going into GW21? I do have the exact money to move to March but the 2 transfers will undoubtedly prove far more valuable to us when we receive more info post cup games about the upcoming doubles / blanks? I'd likely be benching the Brighton mid anyway with KDB, Rashford, Odegaard & Kulusevski making up the rest of my midfield?

Probably keeping Almiron 1 more week (at least) & may move him on for Odegaard after next week (funded by Cancelo downgrade). Could also move KDB on instead.

Obviously I like the Brighton players as options but doesnt help the GW25 case - which is the main issue I have with moving on Andreas. However Mitoma with LEI/BOU next, when LEI/BOU are 20th & 19th for chances conceded on his flank for last 6 games is so tempting. (Worth noting BOU/CRY are 18th & 17th on March's side.)

Probalem is it'll take 2 transfers to get rid, but the form, fixtures & opponent form is there...

Fancy taking on the Scout Picks?

I'm after challengers from the Community to take on the Scout Picks in GW21 and beyond. If you are interested, email me at will@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with the subject heading “Community Picks”. Please include your FFS username and FPL Team ID.

You need to pick 11 players to challenge the Scout Picks in a one-off head-to-head match.

Fpl_Jaafar managed a 69-57 win for the Community in GW19, largely thanks to a shrewd Willian pick, to level the scores at 9-9 for season. Although the Scouts look like claiming victory in GW20 as they lead 59-39 over skipnicklee.

Fpl_Jaafar joined Boleyn Boy, Pirlos Pen, Rupert the Horse, circusmonkey, Camzy, NateDog, Jazz! and Eh, just one more thing … in recording victories.

The Community Member who has the largest winning margin takes home a £100 Amazon voucher and entry to our Mods and Cons League.

The current leader is Boleyn Boy, who set an impressive 27-point target in GW6.

If chosen, you will have a budget of £83m to select 11 players (no subs) but outside of that standard FPL rules apply - you need to use a normal FPL formation and with a limit of three players from a team.

And remember to pick a captain and vice-captain.

    Thank you!

    Some (late) MOTD thoughts:

    - JWP could have had an even bigger haul than March. Amazing Pickford save pushing his shot onto the post at the end of the first half and so close to 2 assists too. His free-kick was great but his first goal was bloody beautiful

    - I think seeing March's returns have cemented my position in sticking with MacAllister and Mitoma. A haul is a haul of course but I do think he's had a bit of luck, one being tapping in what I thought was a scuffed shot from Mitoma, the other a great and difficult strike from the edge of the box. His assist for Welbeck was just a flick on from a throw and was really because of Welbeck's sublime skill,
(and normally I'd expect a player there to square it to MacAllister for a tap in). I'm delighted for March (and Welbeck) mind, but he's also scored a screamer in recent weeks as well, I'm not completely sure how many big hauls like this he'll get. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see MacAllister and Groß pick up points this week while everyone focuses on Mitoma and March

    - Liverpool looked poor but even then Brighton's clean sheet had an element of luck about it, especially given the fact it's their first clean sheet in 8 games

    - Gibbs-White again looking great in his new role ahead of the midfield, but Leicester are an absolute shambles without Maddison and Dewsbury-Hall, conceding 2 goals from having the ball in the oppositions half and being torn apart so easily, awful

    - West Ham still look like they're going to keep making chances in games but there's just no real end product, at the other end they look like a mess whenever anyone runs at them

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

I was surprised at the Brighton clean sheet, and remain slightly unconvinced how many they'll keep long-term. But having watched the game live I wouldn't say there was much luck to it. Brighton were in complete control all the way through

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 1 month ago

Brighton definitely looked in control but I always feel Sanchez has a mistake in him, was a bit lucky with the offside call when he had the ball in his hands just outside the box
