Spurs v Man City team news: De Bruyne benched again

The Sunday 4.30pm GMT kick-off sees Tottenham Hotspur host champions Manchester City in north London.

The big Fantasy Premier League (FPL) news is that Kevin De Bruyne starts on the bench again for tactical reasons, having also missed the reverse fixture at the Etihad in Double Gameweek 20.

Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan are substitutes, while John Stones is absent from the matchday squad through injury. City are also without Phil Foden again.

Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake, Bernardo Silva and Julian Alvarez all come into the starting XI.

Spurs, meanwhile, are unchanged from Gameweek 21, with new signing Pedro Porro on the bench.

    This week is a bit of a lesson in not overthinking or going too deep down the influencer advice rabbit hole.

    People were avoiding Brighton defenders + Mitoma, selling Kane, wasting transfers on Meslier, Gnonto etc.

    Buy players on form for good fixtures. Keep it simple with season keepers like Kane.

      I nearly fell into the sell Kane trap - good point about not over-thinking; FPL is a simple game despite what some would have you think.

      We have always tried to make generic rules based on seasons or gameweeks. They are all different.

      I don't like "season keeper". It kept me stuck on Salah and Foden for too long, always hoping for their good times to return because "Why would you lose such a great season keeper after a dip in form? He can explode any time. Spend transfers elsewhere"

      We've been there already with Cancelo, Foden, KDB, Salah, Trossard, Mitrovic, Martinelli and Darwin this season, Maddison and James due to fitness

      If Haaland, Kane or Trippier has a sustained dropoff like Salah, Son and Bowen did, he's gone for me. Never going to be a reaction to a few blanks, of course, but that great player still has to earn his place in my squad with good stats and performances, even when form dips a bit. If he keeps earning that spot all season, I can then look back after GW38 and say "Oh yeah, Trippier was a season keeper in 22/23". I'll personally try to only use that term in hindsight, from now on

    City is back to useless tiki-tika of Pep's 1st season. Horrendous.

    Plus, players like Lewis, Alvarez, Rodri and Bernardo have been so so so poor

      I was already on Saka, if I get Mahrez I may go with him too. City are beginning to feel a bit like Spurs to a degree, can't figure out which side of them is going to turn up from game to game

        Maybe, but given the blank, Arsenal's double, and Saka's amazing form, may not.

        Other option is to do Mahrez to Saka but City have a double and Mahrez is in good form too
