Throughout the 2022/23 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, our team of Pro Pundits, Hall of Famers and guest contributors will be sharing their thoughts, tips and own transfer plans.

Here, two-time Indian FPL champion Lateriser talks about Liverpool players now that their Double Gameweek 25 has been announced.

The FFS Pro Pundits 34

Before you know it, more Double Gameweeks have been announced.

We recently got the news that Gameweek 25 will now be of both the Blank and Double variety. These are the teams that will play twice:

Now let’s talk about a few things. I have seen people being extremely close-minded towards getting in some Liverpool assets. Whilst I do understand such scepticism with the poor form they’ve been in, I am a firm believer that underlying data such as expected goals (xG) is a strong indicator of future returns.

UNDERLYING DATA

OTHER FACTORS

A couple of additional factors worth considering here are that Fulham won their FA Cup replay against Sunderland, meaning that Liverpool could still blank in Gameweek 28 if the Cottagers beat Leeds United in the fifth round.

We’ll only have this information after the Gameweek 25 deadline has passed, so we’ll have to roll the dice before knowing Liverpool’s future for sure.

Also, with Arsenal also having an attractive Double Gameweek 25, the need for Liverpool assets slightly reduces because managers will be just as likely to captain one of these assets instead.

Now defensively, I agree that Jurgen Klopp’s side has looked far from convincing and, even though van Djik might return, it’s the completely broken midfield that’s causing them to concede chances for fun. I’ll quietly observe their defence but am certainly more interested in their attack right now.

Moving on, there are a couple of things I wanted to add. James Tarkowski (£4.2m) is a budget-enabling gift at the moment, given that Sean Dyche’s Everton have a good immediate fixture run, including a Double Gameweek 25 and a confirmed outing in Gameweek 28.

They are one of the teams you should be assessing, especially if in need of a defender or goalkeeper. Assets are cheap and there’s a reason I said ‘Sean Dyche’s Everton’ and not just Everton.

Also, if you own Brighton and Hove Albion assets and are thinking of selling them for their Blank Gameweek 25, I would reconsider. Some of the predictors on Twitter are expecting a double for them in either Gameweek 26 or 27, so keep that in mind.

That is it from me this week. We dive deeper into the implications of Gameweek 25 and look at the upcoming doublers in this week’s episode of The FPL Wire which you can view below:

Would you do either of these for -4?

    White > Gabriel
    Stones > Ake

Other defenders are Tripp, Shaw and Bueno

I could stick with White but feel Gabriel points over the next few weeks will be higher and worth a hit.

Need to get rid of Stones but both AVL and ARS could score against them this week and in that case may be better to hold and get LIV/ EVE def for DGW25 instead

Thanks - It's only 2 points between White and Gabriel for the season

Minutes per point for the 3 are - White 18.5, Zinchenko 19.4 and Gabriel 20.4 (Didn't realise White was ahead)

B looks good - leaves you with enough FT to get 11 out in 25 too and best to hop on the good stuff from Arsenal

Is this team G2G for GW23

    Kepa

    Trippier White Ake

    KDB (vc) Rashford Saka Andreas

    Nketiah Haaland (c) Toney

Botman should be pretty nailed for a CS. First bench at least, possibly ahead of Andreas. Mount has got to go, but perhaps not this week.

Core is strong. I’m also deciding which two to play out of Shaw, Toney and Andreas. On the latter two atm. Shaw was heavily involved yesterday and I think Navas is major upgrade for NFO

    Kepa
    Gabriel, Trippier, Botman
    Mahrez, Martinelli, Mitoma, Bruno, Rashford
    Haaland (c), Kane

    Ward, Mitro, Shaw, Bueno

    Thoughts on my options

    a) Bruno to Saka
    b) Mitro to Nketiah (bench Mitoma)
    c) B + Martinelli to Saka (-4 and bench Mitoma)

B and C likely mean 9 players + Bueno in GW25 without hits. 2 of Bruno, Shaw and Botman likely to be lost ahead of 25.

Have to make such an annoying decision. Going for Gabriel instead of nketiah sets me up really well going forward and allows me to have enough in the bank to get salah in 25. Just so boring to bring in a defender over a froward on a double

Kane has 18 goals in 15 Premier League games against Leicester. He needs 3 more goals to beat another of Shearer's records.
Most against a Premier League opponent, Shearer 20 goals v Leeds Utd.

Go for it, Fulham seem to be less effective in an attacking sense since the restart, they've tightened up a bit since then too so I think that's been an aim of theirs which is reducing his appeal

Would you sell Shaw and get in Reece James for a hit? Its a planned transfer for next week anyway( for free or part of a single hit) and if Shaw won't start then James can possibly do well. Chelsea defence also impressive with Badiashile, James and Chilwell all now on contention to start.

Mit. I feel Rashy will be started on left from first minute against Leeds as Ten Haag surely saw what playing him OOP resulted in. If Ten Haag wants to win Rashford starts the game on the left.

Mitoma is excellent obviously but you have to bench someone.

    A) Bruno & Toney to KDB & Mitrovic (-4)
    B) Bruno to Mahrez (Free)
    C) Toney to Darwin (Free) must be crazy thinking of going back there
    D) Save

    Kepa
    Gabriel, Trippier, Botman,

    Ward, Shaw, Andreas, Patterson

Not C and Not A anyway

B could be close if Mahrez doesnt start or gets hooked in one game.
      D is a possibility.

I know you probably want to thin down the Utd herd but id leave it one more week (and maybe 2 as Leic is a good fixture also) and then just sell and bench Rashy.

Yeah the plan was always to get KDB back but not sure now. Might just save and leave the Utd for a couple of weeks like you suggest.

Trippier and Rash are the locked in keeps for GW25. Then need to get rid of 4 out of 5 of Botman, Shaw, Bruno, Toney and Patterson.

A No from Me. Bruno was outstanding last night. Has a good fixture incoming. Antony could be out again. Then another open game against Leic after that. At least Bruno is a guaranteed starter (which Mahrez isnt).

Issue with Mahrez is we don't know he starts 1, let alone both. Ideally he starts both given the form and almost certain he starts 1 but we are talking about Bald Fraud here, he may decide he wants to start Foden in this one and then all of a sudden Mahrez becomes non option.

FWIW I think KDB has more chance of playing twice than Mahrez.

But willl Bruno outscore KDB in next 2 or 3 matches with a 4 point head start.

But KDB might be so fing annoyed he could haul against villa.

Here's a another for the hive mind.
With my 1 remaing free hit do I do

    1 - Ferandes to Saka
    2 - Fernandes to Odegaard
    3 - Shaw to Ake
    3 - Shaw to Gabriel

(i might be able to take a -4 and bring in more than 1)

(Currently have Martinelli, Nketiah, Walker, Haaland as by DGWers)

My team this GW. Did Almiron to Mahrez. GTG?

    Kepa
    White Shaw Tripp
    Rash Bruno Marti Mahrez
    Kane Haaland Nketiah

    Ward Andreas Perraud Patterson

    3.4m itb, 0 ft

Hope Patterson returns before the DGW. Will get Tarkowski if not.

You can do Bruno and Martinelli to Ode/Saka for a hit as well.

Play Botman over Gnonto? and do Martinelli to Ode. Could easily save and do your refresh for free

    I have 6 players blank for gw25 + Bueno.
Plus i want to change 3 others players.

Should i use wildcard ? (Will cost about 16/20 point hit until gw25 for "ideal team", if i don't use it)

Yeah 16-20 point hit warrants a WC.

Do you have three transfers before GW25? Or have you used one already this week? 10/11 is not too bad in a BGW.

I know what's your thinking. But I just want to maximize 2 double gws and prepare for blank (28)

    Which option?

    A. Andreas (NFO)
    B. Almiron (bou)
    C. Mahrez(AVL, ars) -4

    Thanks!

    Emerson (Ward)
    Tripper Cucurella White (Shaw Patterson)
    Bruno, Rashford, Mitoma, Martinelli (Andreas)
    Nketiah Kane Haaland

    3.9m in the bank
    A. Martinelli to Odegard
    B. Do A Bruno to KDB -4
    C. Do A Andrea's to Mahrez.

FWIW I think KDB has more chance of playing twice than Mahrez.

But willl Bruno outscore KDB in next 2 or 3 matches with a 4 point head start.

But KDB might be so fing annoyed he could haul against villa.

I am going to be a suckered and play Salah GW25 so it is A or B really

I think Bruno, over the next 2 games, could easily match (or better) the points return of KDB over the next 3.
