It’s not just Arsenal and Liverpool who ‘double’ in Gameweek 25 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers also play twice.

The Toffees host Aston Villa before taking on the league leaders at the Emirates, while Wolves have a double-header of away games at Fulham and Liverpool.

In this article, we see if there is anything to like about the ‘other’ Double Gameweek 25 sides and if any players stand out as FPL targets.

EVERTON UNDER DYCHE

TEAM
Minutes per expected goal (xG)Minutes per expected goal conceded (xGC)
Post-Dyche82 (14th)75.9 (=6th)
Pre-Dyche93.9 (16th)56.1 (19th)

We’ll begin by acknowledging that three games is a microscopic sample!

The new Everton boss has only been at the helm since Gameweek 22 but even in that short space of time, the numbers are what you’d expect from a Sean Dyche-led side: solid at the back, so-so up top.

In both home matches, against Arsenal and Leeds, the opposition were kept to an expected goals (xG) total of under 1.0.

At the other end, they’re bottom-half material for everything from total shots to efforts on target.

But those Dychean trends continue, as Everton are ranked first for successful crosses and joint-second for attempts from corners per game since Frank Lampard exited. Over 40% of the Toffees’ xG under Dyche has come from set plays.

PLAYERS

Above: Everton players sorted by shots in the box (In) since Sean Dyche took over

And there’s a seamless segue from the last section as Everton’s set-piece threat is underscored by James Tarkowski‘s (£4.3m) lofty position in the above table.

Perhaps as much of an indictment on the rest of the team, Tarkowski also betters all of his teammates for expected goal involvement (xGI, 1.11) since he was reunited with his former Burnley boss.

We haven’t seen Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) much because of injury but it’s clear that he’s got the skill set to prosper under his new manager’s get-it-wide-and-cross-it approach, with four chances – two of them headed – arriving in his hour-long run-out against Arsenal.

What are the GW34 doubles going to be?

    FPL Wire mentioning them alot

Its a bit far off to say with any certainty but I believe almost all the outstanding fixtures have been rearranged now, so I assume it'll be mostly the GW28 and/or 32 blank fixtures that move to either 34 or 37

I don't think they understand Leicester and Brentford probably won't double in 34 because Leicester play on a Monday. 34 won't be ideal Bench Boost week.

Possibly Newcastle might not either if Spurs don't get into semis.

At least Ben Crellin seems to think we'll know before 29 who doubles in 34. My Bench Boost and transfer plans deviate in that week depending on them so that's good news.

No worries. I think he'll be fine to start the Spurs game.

If I extend the games, Wolves have Leeds on the 18th March then it's the international break so sufficient days in between games to start imo.

I’ve got Salah and Tarkovski in for KDB and Dalot for free to have 10 players including Beuno.
Would you do an 8 point hit to get Darwin to Kane and Shaw to TAA to get 11?
Could also do Beuno to TAA if wanted to keep Shaw but to have 10.

    Rest:

No stand out replacements for any of the 4 you have listed
      Mitoma > mcneil
      Toney > Watkins or Felix
But those 2 have doubles in 27 & good fixture in 26

I'd be tempted to roll & play with 10 as you have Salah & 3 good arsenal players

KDB has an 'illness' doesn't he?

Even if he recovers by the weekend, there's no guarantee he'll be thrown into the starting 11 against Bournemouth.

I've been careful with hits this season, but I'd say Salah x 2 (for -4) is worth it on balance.

Less of the guru, Daniel 😀

I'd say he's the most secure of the back four based on what I've read on the forums/local rags. Some Wolves fans are deliberating over Collins v Kilman, even though Dawson/Collins are more aligned in terms of usually playing at RCB.

The one worry with Lopetegui is that he is prone to changing things up, ie Ait-Nouri/Bueno swapping and Collins dropping out in the first place.

And you get quotes like this ("we might change three or four"): https://www.molineux.news/news/lopetegui-praises-nathan-collins-after-liverpool-win-despite-benching-him/

    What's everyone's plan re Kane?

I plan on keeping him for the next two GWs, then probably shipping for Toney who doubles in 27 and 29.

Will then buy him back on my WC.

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 5 days ago

Given Spurs schedule and declining form, I'm willing to sacrifice him now to take some shots with doublers - Nketiah & Darwin, Toney, maybe Iheanacho, Felix. Kane's 4 fixtures over the next 5 GWs could easily become 8 fixtures for a combination of others.

    2. Conners
      • 7 Years

      Yes, that makes sense.

I prioritised switching out Mitro and KDB this GW but Kane will probably be next to go.

    Best move here?

    A) Shaw -> 5.4 (TARK)
    B) Shaw & Kane -> TAA & DARWIN (-4)

    Ederson
    GABRIEL, BUENO, PATTERSON
    SALAH, ODEGAARD, MARTINELLI
    Haaland, Kane, Mitrovic

    Kepa, Shaw, Trippier, Rashford, Mitoma
Bank 0.3m, 1FT, all chips except TC

    1. Conners
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 5 days ago

I'd be more tempted to replace Mitro than Kane if you're taking a hit.

Shaw and Mitro to Tark and Watkins could be the move.

Watkins plays in all the blanks and also doubles in 29 which is pretty handy.

Cheers. I like Watkins but will likely be FHing or WCing in 29 so that sort of removes the benefit of him doubling then. Darwin is Darwin, but it’s 2 good fixtures vs Kane playing Chelsea (not the worst but they’re not shipping lots of goals either)

personally would just go KDB to Salah
If you really want, can go Kane to Darwin for a free too.

Wouldn't be rushing to get rid of Trippier for a hit.

Team after taking a -4 to go Shaw to Tarkowski and KDB to Salah:

    Kepa (Ward)
    Bueno Tarkowski White Stones** (Trippier)
Salah (c) Saka (vc) Pereira (Rashford Mitoma)
    Haaland Kane Nketiah

Is it worth taking another hit to get rid of stones or just field 10? Have 1.2m in the bank so can get any defender up to 6.6m (not enough for Robbo or TAA, but could get Van Dijk).

Hmm close one. On the one hand, I'm not convinced there's any defenders really worth a hit this week. But then, it is a good opportunity to ditch Stones if there's anyone you like as a longer-term replacment (not VVD for me, but maybe James?)

    Any suggestions?
    2FT, 0,7 itb
    Plan is WC27, FH28, BB29

    Ederson
    Patterson, White, Bueno
    KDB, Øde, Saka
    Haaland, Johnson, Kane
(Ward - Rash, Shaw, Mitoma, Trip)

    A) KDB & Patterson -> Salah, Tark (play 10)
    B) KDB, Patterson, Kane -> Salah, TAA, Darwin (-4 and play 10)
    C) KDB, Patterson, Shaw -> Gakpo, TAA, Robbo (-4 and play 11)
    D) Just KDB -> Salah (play 10)

      Either A or C
      Wouldn't take a hit to field 10.

True but would mean relying on Bueno, Mitro and Akanji. Teams a bit of a mess really.

Shaw - mainly due to no fixture in 28

Doesn't look like Mitro took part in the main full team training session yesterday.

No free transfers. 1.5m itb. Feeling fairly clueless

    Kepa Ward
    Tark Shaw Trips Neco Vestegaard
    Saka Salah Rashford Ode DaSilva
    Kane Haaland Nketiah

What shall I take a hit for? Just a bit lost really

Need some insight here folks please. Looking to bring in TAA for one of Bueno Or Aurier.
Thinking that I would like to keep Aurier, IF (currently flagged) he is likely to play this week. Both seem to now be rotation risks also??

    Any thoughts welcome :).

I'm not 100% sure how nailed Aurier is but I would be inclined to keep him over Bueno if fit given Forest's improving defence, guaranteed fixture in 28 & decent looking DGW29
