After focusing on Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion assets in preparation for Double Gameweek 27, it’s only fair to cover the other two sides that play twice – Crystal Palace and Southampton.

We’ve scraped together a few names that may interest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, especially those on a Wildcard.

FIXTURES

Both sides play once in Double Gameweek 29 but have guaranteed fixtures in Gameweeks 28 and 32, when some are postponed for FA Cup reasons.

Since ending the short reign of Nathan Jones and putting Ruben Selles in the dugout, Southampton have won two of three matches to move off the league’s basement position on goal difference. It’s a relegation battle that could soon involve Crystal Palace, who are currently 12th but winless in nine matches.

They play twice in this next round but neither team’s fixtures look attractive. The Saints travel to a wounded Manchester United before hosting an unbeaten-in-12 Brentford, whilst the Eagles host Manchester City and then visit in-form rivals Brighton.

Although it could also be said that Palace enjoy being against Pep Guardiola’s lot. Last season, they were the only team that the champions failed to score past and, earlier this season, took another 2-0 lead at the Etihad before Man City eventually recovered to win 4-2.

TEAM STATS

These have the lowest two expected goals (xG) totals since the Gameweek 17 restart (Palace 8.73, Southampton 9.22) and, over the whole campaign, only Bournemouth are below them.

FPL Marc Broadcaster, writer and overthinker. Hoping that ‘differential potential’ will catch on.

Playing Saka, Zinchenko, Saliba, Xhaka & White tonight seems close to crazy to me 😀

They should be all-in-100-focus-no-risk to win the league.
But again. I'm not a prof manager. Just semi-decent in fantasy!

First legs of Europe are always important. Try to finish it off in the first 60 and rest.

I think the priority should be to try to finish off Fulham in the first 60 at Craven Cottage in 68 hours.

            Ofcause, but:

Turner, Tomiyasu, Holding, Kiwior, Jorginho, Smith-Rowe, Nelson and so on should start.
Hell throw in the young ones too.

If one of the regular XI gets injured tonight it will look so silly..

I think the B-team should straight up 'do or die' against Sporting in the Europa League.

I'd rather lose 3-0 against Sporting tonight than win 0-1 and have Saka injured for a month?
        Win the damn League! 😀

As an Arsenal fan I would want us to give it all in Europa too. What's the guarantee Saka doesn't pick up something against Fulham in the first 10 minutes?

            No guarentees!

But a Fulham win is more important than winning tonight, and should a key player be injured (really hope is does not happen), then I personally think it should be fighting for the title in the League rather than making it through in the Europa League 1/8s.

Thats why you re not a coach.
I can understand why Arteta want to clinch the spot early. Why delay it until second leg when you can have this match wrapped up earlier at first leg, you ll have chance to rest your team at second leg.

        Agreed!
And if I was the pressure and job would probably make me to do something similar.

Arteta is great, and I've been loving watching Gunners for many years (even through the rough times), but this year is phenomenal.

All in all I just cross my fingers nothing happens to a key player tonight, and that Saka, Zinch and co. has 120% to give again in 67 hours.

Another way to look at it :

Since GW 17 started 9 matches:

            3 blanks
            6 games returned
            Incl 3 double figure returns
            6.8 points per game

            Toney : started 8
            3 blanks
            5 games returned
            2 double figure returns
            5.9 points per game

            1. Sanchit
              • 10 Years
              2 years, 9 months ago

You're looking at points, I'm looking at the underlying data.
How likely is the situation probable to repeat itself - always depends on underlying data not the outcome.

Remember Almiron? Kept scoring without underlying numbers for a few weeks. Did it continue though?

                • 7 Years
                2 years, 9 months ago

I'm looking at the main data aka points, which may or may not be supported by underlying data

Not sure the comparison with Almiron is a good one, but he returned very well for 9 games and for the price was well worth it

Then there was the J Lingz situation, similar to above, just kept on scoring massively

To be returning well over 9 games is a decent sample size regardless of underlying data

                1. Make FPL Casual Again
                  • 7 Years
                  2 years, 9 months ago

The underlying data has me thinking twice though...xg from gw 17 was just under 3, and he's scored 5 goals...

Salah or Rashford could be good differential options this GW

If it helps, here are the possible DGWs according to Ben Crellin (pending FA Cup results of course) for the big guns:

      Salah: GW34 TOT/FUL OR GW37 AVL/FUL
      Haaland: GW34 ful/WHM or bha; GW37 CHE/WHM or bha
      Rashford: GW34 AVL/bha or CHE; GW37 bou/CHE or bha

    Toney Kane Nacho

With the current team without using any FT's
        I'd have
        3 Liverpool against NFO
        3 Brentford against AVL
        Kane Nacho

So 8 starters locked in, pretty confident of starting 10,11 without any hits in 32

Exactly so 32 isn't an issue

Why not? I haven't planned each and every move to answer this but what's stopping me? We get a free transfer every week and I'm okay taking a hit every week as well if I make up 30-40 points in gameweeks 27-28-29.

It looks rather too short term and storing up future point hits after 29

Will it make up atleast 20-30 points over the generic WC26 template is the question?

If yes then those hits later could be okay

It’s possible but I don’t think that it’s likely to be honest but good luck if you decide to go for it

      GW27-6 DGW
      GW30-ok

Though - Agree with issues in GW32 - possible slight check

    A) Play Saka (ful) & Nunez (bou)
    B) Buy mitoma (-4) & bench Saka
    C) Buy mitoma (-4) & bench Nunez

    Thanks!

Do you think Klopp will bench Nunez after his performance against United? Basic man management to use the highs effectively.

          He scored against Newcastle
          Scored against Madrid

          But was benched against Palace.

Man management is one thing, rotating the squad to give enough rest is another.

Worth saving WC for a -12? Will take -4 this GW and -8 next week.

    GW 27: TAA + Andreas -> Henry + March/Macallister
    GW 28: Haaland + Bueno + Pattersson --> Watkins + Chilwell + Botman/Cash

If I calculated right you gain around 10 points if you use WC because saving hits, but that is only correct if the points would be like that, but that will never happen. I am actually thinking of taking hits instead, is that mad? Feels so wrong to use WC when I will not transfer that many new players in.

That would give me the following team for GW 28 (9 Players)

    Pope, Ward
    Henry, Gabriel, Tripper, Chilwell, Botman/Cash
    Salah, Saka, Rashford, Mitoma, March/Macallister
    Toney, Watkins, Darwin

Then in GW 30 get Haaland back

Ye if I gain March + Henry for it ( 2 players with 2 DGW)

Not worth taking -12 . With less doubles and blanks due to FA cup results there doesn’t seem any advantage in holding off

Well -8 of the hits are just to get in 2 defenders in GW28 + good fixtures in 29.

So really if I would not WC the hits are good to take because I can field 2 more players.

If they both score 2 I only loose -4.

    Thoughts on this WC?

    Raya

    Tripps Mee Estupinan
    Salad Mito Saka Macallister Rashy
    Kane Toney (C)

    Kepa Chilwell Watkins Zinchenko

Still undecided on this, thinking maybe get March in for salah & pop Ben Davies in for estupinan?

    Quick thoughts.

    1A)Sanchez(Kepa Sub)
    B) Sanchez to De Gea

    2A) Odegaard
    B) Maddison

On AA right now but Odegaard not been in great form and scary to bench either. Could bench boost but team set up for 29BB

    Raya
    Trippier Mee Estupanan
    Mitoma Martinelli Saka Rashford
    Haaland Kane Toney

    Ward Maddison Zinchenko James

    1 Play Maddison
    2 Play Martinelli
3 -4 Macallister from Maddison and get Maddison back for 28 and 29

    ???
