Just switched MOTD over to a movie. First time I’ve ever done that. How bad is that tonight.

I liked it with no commentary, like watching from the stands.

Just need a cold draft and a just about warm enough pie

There was that time – think it was the World Cup, maybe, or some time? – when there was the option to kill the commentary.

        Definitely my preferred option.

I turn the sound down, generally, but would love to still hear the crowd sounds while just watching the game.

Yes crowd sound far more important than commentary. Covid era games were dire

No commentary should become an option. I thought it naturally would. Actually, maybe it is but I don't fully understand the remote!

WC time. Prob should have done this GW given the Salah 0 and Mac Allister goal but there we go. Anyway, where am I going wrong below (please). Not seeing it well this year!!

    GW28 WC (11 starters):
    Ward (bha)
Chilwell (EVE), Botman (nfo), Trippier (nfo), Zinchenko (CRY)
Odegaard (CRY), Saka (CRY), Maddison (bha)
Watkins (BOU), Toney (LEI), Kane (sou)
    Bench: Steele, Shaw, Rashford, Mitoma

GW29 BB: Above team + Odegaard -> Mac Allister. 12 doublers + Saka, Zinchenko, Kane

GW30: Enough cash for Watkins -> Haaland

I’m in the exact same situation (stuck with pool players and regretting not WC 27) and this plan is looking very good.

Should have the edge on WC 26/27 people for 28/29 and have a healthier team going forward (not full of brentford and Brighton for the future).

I can have Haaland instead of Watkins (I know he blanks and doesn’t double) as I don’t want to drop .4 on him. You think it’s worth the .4 drop?

They are into something here on MOTD … would like the commentary during match but permanently get rid of the bollox in studio crap I skip on IPlayer normally. Short and to the point. Get to see what I want without the waffle.

Yeah, have commentary, and extend the highlights from the additional time gained by getting rid of the studio nonsense.

I'm happy to pay my share for public service broadcasting that is of benefit for all. Absolutely I am.

Same principle as the NHS, and taxes in general.

Big difference my opinion … BBC is hardly a public service the way the NHS is … crazy comparison my friend.

The principle is, we all pay into the pot as a collective, as a society – same for both.

One rather large point for you to consider:

You don't have to buy a licence, you're not being forced to, as you put it.

If you have any device in your home that is capable of showing live tv then you are legally required to purchase a tv licence … out dated and wrong.

We CHOOSE top pay for Netflix, Amazon etc etc … but we legally have to pay for BBC … outdated … would rather they treated same as every other broadcasting service … pay for it if you want it, if not, block it and don’t pay if your happy to go without. £150 a year forced on people for TV and radio and they aren’t free to choose if they want it or not.

You only have to pay if you use it.

                      Same as Netflix etc.

Please get the very basics in place if you want to discuss it with any credibility.

Incorrect. If you have any device in your home that is capable of showing live tv, you are legally required to have a tv licence. It’s ridiculous but there you have it.

No, stick to my guns, it's as I thought. You are wrong:

What is live TV and when do I need a licence for it?

Live TV means any programme you watch or record as it’s being shown on TV or live on any online TV service. It’s not just live events like sport, news and music. It covers all programmes on any channel, including soaps, series, documentaries and even movies.

If you’re watching live TV, you need to be covered by a TV Licence:

if you’re watching on TV or on an online TV service
for all channels, not just the BBC
if you record a programme and watch it later
if you watch a programme on a delay
                        to watch or record repeats
to watch or record programmes on +1, +2 and +24 channels
to watch live programmes on Red Button services
even if you already pay for cable, satellite or other TV services

                        In the UK
"To watch any live recording or broadcast, regardless of the country or language of origin, one needs a TV licence.
Additionally, a licence is also needed to watch any programmes on BBC or the on-demand service BBC iPlayer.
Despite the name, the TV licence covers a range of devices that are not necessarily televisions, such as gaming consoles, laptops and mobile devices.
This means regardless of the device, channel or platform, watching any form of live content needs a licence."

The money goes on the ouput!

That's the whole point, that's how it is funded.

We all pay (well those of us who watch). With the money we pay in, they make TV/radio etc that we watch and listen to.

                        Page one.

It’s a flat tax structure though.
It makes no allowance for means or the amount watched which is totally unjust. The opposite of social benefit

The licence fee accounted for 71% of BBC funding in 2021/22
Total BBC income in 2021/22 was £5.33 billion, 71% of which came from the licence fee revenues. The remaining 29% or £1.53 billion came from commercial and other activities (such as grants, royalties and rental income).

Maybe so. But the principle itself stands up.

You didn’t even know either … and there is nothing wrong with that, but you checked yourself which is fine … crazy concept here but when someone checks your view, your big enough to check it yourself and challenge yourself … might find you were right in the first place … but to assume your right no matter what is a sad state of affairs, being big enough to at least question yourself makes the world a better place .. so I assumed hey, maybe this guys right and I’m wrong … so shock, I had a little look to educate my self. Surely you don’t think someone should be nailed to spot and not allowed to think on it a bit?

It’s not a competition lol … it’s a difference of opinion … you know, the things were allowed to have last time I checked. Not the BBC, certainly not 71% of it. Perhaps redistribution in to social care, NHS something like that.

On that I agree. Would like commentary during the matches but just do away with the studio crap. Should take the opportunity to improve the programme. Extend highlights and do away with the pundits in between the matches …. Personal preference but the guff from the studio is not required.

Yep, loads of people – from your generation probably, without wanting to pre-judge your generation.

In the industry, they call those who used to use terrestrial TV but now have migrated to YouTube/Netflix etc 'cord-cutters'.

And those who never even had terrestrial TV in the first place, 'no corders'.

I'm a bit older than probably many on here, so I'm used to 'TV' as we used to know it.

Which one gives me more pts in your opinion?
    A) Gabriel (CRY+LEE), Botman (bre)
    B) Shaw (new + BRE + EVE) -4pts

I'd choose B for the attacking threat, but A might be more reasonable.

Thanks mate, think I'll risk B hoping for a Shaw assist

I reckon both options get you 2 CS. Shaw more of the attack threat. Would be close but I would prefer Shaw and have my arsenal spot elsewhere. Plus might mean avoiding a double up on the toon if you have tripps and they don’t pick up.

Yes, I can't time Arsenal's cs this season. Shaw at LB is very involved so lets hope he gets something

Fofana seems great value at 4.3 for a route into Chelsea DEF. I’m 0.4 short of James/Chillwell.

    Is he nailed?
Or is TSilva due back soon or Badiashile coming in hot?

Yes he is 100% nailed till injured imo. He is the only one who can play RCB in 3 atb, Azpi is so old

        I am agree.
But I’m not seeing any mention of him here.
        Chelsea have a reasonable run.

Bec most dont have money issues and going for Chilwell, or already owning loads of Bre/Bha defs for 29

Yes – I had grand plans to bring him in in September or whenever it was, when he got the injury!

Defo got my eye on him now, seems to be standing up okay so far to coming back fro injury and playing loads.

Personally I wouldn't go there, Badiashile too much of a threat. Would only consider Chilwell and Koulibaly.

    1 FT, a lot ITB

    Raya
    Trippier Botman Chilwell Henry
    Saka Maddison
    Kane Toney Havertz

DDG Rashford Mac Allister March Estupinan

Would you roll here and play 10 or use the FT? I am BBing in 29 so it would have to be someone who plays 28 and doubles 29.

    Thanks!

Roll, not a single one I would want to lose for 29 who blanks in 28

Yeah looks like roll. Was looking at Estupinan > Schar/Burn but not sure I like that.

No, Forest will score at home as they usually do. Joelinton also out is an important miss imo. If Brennan is out injured then New may keep cleanie but anyways their 29 double isnt better than Estu's and its not even close

In great shape. I think I will go with 10 also, short term pain.

Would you bring in Chillwell for Estupinan in 28 to have 11 players playing? Chilly also has a DGW in 29

Thinking similarly - have exact money for this and another transfer.

I like Estupinan's DGW better but getting an extra game from Chilly should equal that out and I'll have enough to do Odegaard to Madison to give me 11 DGWers in 29

After returning from Australia I don't expect Pervis to play both DGW29 fixtures.

Interesting idea. I kind of had it in my mind that I needed to do Haaland to a forward, but that would work too.

      I don't hate it!

I know it makes sense to temporarily replace Haaland but it's so costly to get him back later.

Yup that's my dilemma too. But on the other hand after this week there are only 11 more game weeks. We can't take that team value with us to next season. Points matter more.

Can everyone stop bringing Chilwell in on day 1 of a DGW - I have exact funds for him but don't want to bring in tonight! 😀

How much do you think the potential rises are being affected by potential WCs this game week … I can’t remember if it’s just FH that don’t impact or if WCs too?

Ha, tbf I guess James is the same price and was only out due to illness so a decent alternative if I'm priced out ... also on pens

Thoughts on solanke as haaland replacement??

Great fixtures. Means by gw30 I can gave haaland, bruno kane saka and 2 Brighton mids plus Chilwell and trippier rashford etc

Getting watkins or havertz means more hits....thanks

Life is good. GW 29 has just ended. Haaland hat trick vs pool, 4-0 Arsenal win over Leeds, Kane score 6 goals against Everton and Brighton & Brentford secure their second 1-1 draws of the GW. Life is good.

The way this season is going, Tarkowski will get the six goals, Jesus will score all 4 in that Arsenal win (no assisters) and all Haaland's goals will be rebounds from missed penalties
