2022/23 UEFA Champions League (UCL) Fantasy continues with the latter half of Matchday 8 – the remaining four second-leg matches.

With prizes dished out every Matchday, the official UCL Fantasy game also offers an incentive for managers to belatedly enter a team even if you are yet to sign up.

Here, Louis (aka FPLReactions) takes a look at Tuesday and Wednesday’s best captaincy options.

FPL Gameweek 10 tips: Dance like no one's watching 1

Best Tuesday captain – Erling Haaland (€11.0m)

Manchester City have been on a great run of seven wins from their last ten matches in all competitions. In this period, they’ve netted 19 goals at a rate of 1.9 per game.

RB Leipzig are next up. The German side has shown strong form this season but their two clean sheets in five games indicates that there is potential for Man City goals.

Therefore, without a doubt, Tuesday’s standout captaincy option is Erling Haaland (€11.0m), having racked up a whopping 28 goals and five assists from 26 league matches.

Tuesday differential captains

Other great options include Inter striker Lautaro Martinez (€8.5m). He faces Porto and is also having a solid season, with 14 goals in 26 Serie A outings. Alternatively, some could back his opposing forward, Porto’s Mehdi Taremi (€7.9m). The Iranian has notched up 13 goals and six assists in this campaign.

The best UCL Fantasy captains for Matchday 8 1

Best Wednesday captain – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€5.9m)

Like Man City, Serie A leaders Napoli come into Matchday 8 in very strong form, with their last ten in all competitions bringing eight wins and an average of 2.0 goals per game.

In contrast, opponents Frankfurt are struggling to maintain a positive run of results as of late, with one win from six matches, conceding two or more goals in four of them.

A great captaincy choice is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€5.9m). The 22-year-old is hoping to increase his 11 goals and nine assists of this season, with five of each arriving in his last ten. Also, as designated penalty taker, there is an additional route to points.

Wednesday differential captains

The second half of Napoli’s deadly duo is Victor Osimhen (€7.8m), a Nigerian with 19 domestic goals this season. Similar to Kvaratskhelia, his form is red hot, netting eight times in his last ten.

Some could also consider Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema (€10.6m), a big-game player who takes penalties, whilst midfielder Vinicius Junior (€10.0m) is also having a fantastic campaign.

    Morning All.

I'm on WC and struggling to get 4 defenders that play in GW28 and also double in GW29, but don't play against someone in GW28 where I've got vested interest in their attacking returns, e.g. reluctant to select a Brentford DEF because I'll also be playing Maddison in midfield. I've already got double Chelsea def with Kepa/Chilwell but reluctant to double up elsewhere eg. Newcastle.

    Any suggestions?

    Kepa (Raya)
    Chilwell, Trip, Mings, ???, (Estepinan)
    Saka, Martinelli, Maddison (Rash, Mitoma)
    Kane, Watkins, Toney

Im on WC, and I'm tripling on CHE with James.. Will wait to know if he's fit obviously

Nice! TBH I start to squirm when I double-up, I don't think tripling up def is a play I've got in my locker!

Many will have Kepa and Chilwell, so many will double up already. 3 home games, and they are wingbacks, I don't see any better option

Yeah. You've already got enough permutations with 3 games in 2 GWs, then not clashing with your attackers, to also try and avoid a triple up too. Something's going to have to give.

I think your best options are either a Chelsea triple up in defence or Newcastle defender. Chelsea have 3 home games in 28 & 29 and Newcastle also have decent fixtures in 28 & 29 with one more double gameweek to be booked against Brighton (most likely in gw31)

You might just need to accept that not all defenders are going to keep clean sheets in both games. Or get an Arsenal for LEE.

Bournemouth got 2 decent home fixtures in 29, but unlikely CS in 28.

Is Zinchenko to Shaw worth a hit in GW29?

Think this decision will nail FH32 for me
Will have only 8 starters with 0 Pool players against NFO and only Saka against Soton.

It will have a knock on effect as with a defensive mid like Casemiro, Bruno was allowed to run wild and try to dictate play up front. Now we will prob have Fred and/or McT playing. With Sabitzer also having some good looking performances in the midfield in a more attacking role.

I expect the first section of the line (60mins or so) might remain suspended for another couple of GWs. But I might be interested after that too, feeling a bit stuck for options up front from GW30

Salah will always be the focal point of the Liverpool attack. Getting him in could be a good strategy with the PL their priority. That being said, you will need to seriously downgrade 1 player or lesser downgrades of 2 other players to get him with the way your team is set up.

No. I'd look at bringing in Saka, maybe for Benrahma. If you have the funds, that is.

Not for me. I think your current 5 MIDs are great for 29.
Not convinced of double United defence with Casemiro out though. Might sound weird but I’d prefer Bournemouth def or gk and maybe a 2nd Newcastle def/Pope instead I’d DDG.

    5. The Mentaculus

2 away games against, by my estimation, 2 of the current toughest defences - seems overly deferential to his reputation. If his cost entails big compromises here then he's even easier to ignore for now. Still a good option for the run in if you want to just make space for him now, but I think FH him in 32 & consider buying in 34 seems fine too (that's my plan).

    Kepa
    Gabriel Trippier Mee
    Saka Martinelli Maddison
    Tony Kane

Ward Haalan Rashford Shaw Estupinan and Mitoma.

Planning Shaw to Chilwel but no funds(0.6M short currently). Where can I get the funds? Saka > Trossard/Odegaard?
    or
Leave as it is with the playing 9.

Have 0.4m tied up in him. and with the knowledge that I will almost definitely want him back later it has me confused.

Wasn't all that bad without him before. Played superbly against Arsenal. Admittedly looked quite open in the first game v Leeds, but rectified that & picked up 2 CS in tricky fixtures (Leicester & Leeds [A])

Maybe DDG bailed them out v Leicester, but Leicester create chances every game, still a good CS. You can make a decent case for going without Man Utd defence, I get it, but I'm still not really seeing 5 better options than Shaw

I believe it's team dependant. If you have played your WC then it's worth as you FH32 where he blanks and then he doubles 34. But I own, Estu and NEW def x2 (dgw29+31), Chilwell who's better than Shaw short term, Gabriel who plays 28,29,32(I have played FH so I need players for 32)

GW4 when the tip was Pep said Haaland will not be playing every game..
"Now he has one game a week. I tell you now when we have games every three days that Erling will not play,” the City boss.

So I switched him out for Toney at the time (he was the big tip then and flopped, funny how its happening again this week!)

I got Haaland back GW8 so it was 3 games I missed but 7 goals and 83pts (c).

I have only just clawed back to the top of my ML's this week, its been a painful lesson to play your own game!

What do you think is best?
        a) Badisheile > Chilwell
        b) foden > maddison

        Or both for -4?

Probably B as no game in 28 & I don't like dicey SGW starters for BB. You could give Badi another week to see if he starts, although I do think Chilwell is a substantial upgrade (planning to captain him this week myself)

He has nice potential... if there is any signs of badi missing out again I think it's worth the -4...best of luck

    Looking alright without the hits?
Gutted I went for March over Mitoma/Mac Allister in the first place but it is what it is

    GW28:
    Raya
    Trippier Zinchenko Royal Henry
    Saka Martinelli Maddison
    Kane Toney Watkins

    GW29 (BB):
    Raya Areola
    Chilwell Trippier Zinchenko Shaw Estupinan
    Saka Martinelli Maddison Rashford March
    Kane Toney Watkins

Yes very nice. March put in a good perfomance and was so close to scoring - I'm sticking with him too

will take a hit for Kepa (or just ignore Shaw and keep Henry) if Fabianski recovers in time for 29*

For people with a lot of value tied up in Haaland, are you still swapping him out? It's the buying him back that puts me off...

I think so. He’ll drop £0.1m maybe even £0.2m so it won’t hurt too much. You can shave it off elsewhere but I’m keeping an open mind. I may not bring him back as there’s 4/5 other strikers that look good for the run-in

    I'm on a WC.
I'm keeping Kane but I've decided to swap Haaland but not sure whether to have 2 from:
    A. Toney
    B. Watkins
    C. Havertz

B or C for me. Unless Toney goes wild in his 2nd game which might change my view

      Looks good.
Like the Isak pick. I have Ward for my 29 BB and will lose Castagne on my WC.

You will surely need that GW29 transfer to sort out an injury post international break. Its a nice plan but rarely do you not get an unexpected triangle.

    Estupinan and Haaland >

    A) Estupinan and Haaland > Chilwell and Watkins
    B) Estupinan and Haaland > Chilwell and Havertz
    C) Haaland > Watkins
    D) Haaland > Havertz
    E) Haaland and March > Watkins and Salah(or any other mid)

Pretty much exactly what I'd go for. Martinez the only slight question mark since Bournemouth are looking pretty good on the break, but still not bad pick. Maybe I would prefer Sa or Kepa

Not really, you look very well set up. Maybe join the Haaland hokey cokey party?
