With the Gameweek 28 deadline around 24 hours away, our in-house team of Sam, Marc, Tom and Neale each put forward the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) names they think should make the final Scout Picks.

Our panelists submit 18-man player longlists with the focus just on the upcoming Gameweek – and with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the regularly updated Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

Half interested in a Spurs defender as a FH punt. What is the current deal with Perisic? I see has been benched a lot recently.

Unpredictable minutes on my opinion. I’ve had Davies for a while, who seems more secure in the starting XI and often plays LWB depending on the formation/personnel.

    Hey folks,

Should be able to get 11 out for free. Is it worth going Pinnock > Chilwell (-4)?
    - I will likely be doing this in dgw29 anyways for a hit so just bringing forward the hit. However
    - waiting could means extra info incase someone else in my team gets injured in which case I will end up keeping pinnock.
    - Also have Henry who i am not planning to sell

    On a FH.

    A) Kepa and Zinchenko
    B) Ramsdale and James

Think James has more potential to go big. But Kepa always has the chance of bonus and Arsenal probably more likely to keep a clean sheet.

Alright lads, need some life advice.

My GFs parents bought us tickets to NY as a gift and idk if I should accept as I can’t bloody reciprocate that as I’m a student in loads of stinkin debt… should I:

    A) accept the gift anyways

    B) Refuse n say thank you

    C) WC them out (including gf)

    Srs replies only plz

You may have done already but talk to your GF, explain the situation (She knows right?). It's easier then to decide what to do.

Just be honest, speak to your GF, speak to her parents and explain the situation. Nothing to be ashamed of, i'd rather do that than sweep it under the rug.

    2. Tonyawesome69

      - what does your GF think of the gift?
      - do you have a good relationship with her parents?

Well she’s goin to NY so naturally she’s quite excited. Pressure n expectations from all sides!

do they expect you to reciprocate it? if they then that's a rather strange thing from them to expect in return. personally I would say B unless they have gifted it to their daughter and she is taking you with her (instead of them gifting it to both of you).

      1. Scalper
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 8 months ago

You know I’m not sure. It’s a big gift so nothing to just say thank you to surely.

They told my gf that it’s for both of us so not sure what to do. Yikesssss

        1. SINGH
          • 7 Years
          2 years, 8 months ago

speak to your gf then and try and gauge whether it is something her parents expect you to reciprocate. it is human nature sometimes to assume we have to give back what we get, even when it is outside of our budget. if she says her parents dont expect the same back then its cool, otherwise it creates an awkward situation in your relationship with her parents if they expect the same back, which I think is unfair on them especially as you are still a uni student

    4. SINGH

or you can play your freehit and go to NY with her mother for a change - its a once time FH anyway, relationship will revert to same status as week before the trip

Speaking as a parent, I don’t think they will expect reciprocation to mean you have to buy an expensive gift. The best way to say thank you is to do something special for them. That something special just has to be something within your power to do. Something thoughtful. Not necessarily expensive.
If it has to be some quality fantasy, football tips, so be it.

Presumably they know you’re a student? I doubt they expect anything in return.

Don’t refuse; it’s too late now and will seem rude.

Talk to your GF and if she’s happy, embrace it.

Aye they do. I think we all have this tit for tat giving thing in us so naturally when I receive a gift I fee I need to reciprocate

Don't know all the ins-and-outs of the situation naturally but sounds like they simply wanted to give this to you as a gift for you to enjoy, especially if they told you it's for both of you.

    12. Indpush
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 8 months ago

Don't discuss it with your gf and don't give it another thought.

Graciously and enthusiastically accept a fine gift from her parents. The only one expecting to reciprocate is you so let go of that expectation.

When you are setup better down the road, even if it is way down the road, gift to another, passing it on.

    13. Arteta
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 8 months ago

I don't know enough about the situation and would definitely need more information to form an opinion, but here's my take: I would accept the gift and make the most of it. It will be unforgettable trip for sure and both of you will cherish it later in life. I think that their parents are actually trying to help you, because you're still a student and perhaps can't afford it all by yourself right now. They know that and instead of buying you some things you don't need, they wanted to gave you something useful you can remember for the rest of your life. Travelling is fulfilling. You and your girlfriend will pay for the accomodation, food, museums etc. and will spend some money too. It's not like they're fully financing your journey. Just show their parents gratitude, help them in other ways, be thoughtful. Surprise them with a little gift from New York and tell them how much you appreciate everything they've done for you so far.

    14. Nanook
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 8 months ago

      A. Graciously accept. The cost of a gift is determined by the giver and not the recipient. If you have a desire to reciprocate then do something that requires thoughtfulness, not necessarily something expensive. If you are able, invite them to your place and prepare a meal for them. They’d appreciate the effort and the ability to spend time with you and their daughter.

Ultimately, the greatest gift you could offer them is to treat their daughter with utmost respect and consistently put her needs above your own. They will love you for this and your girlfriend will treasure you for it.

I heard a few people on sky sports news saying if United sign Kane they win the premier league because of his experience.

Now Kane has been a good player, you cannot deny how good his scoring record is. However he has won nothing of note, what experience is he going to add to the team? He has been leading/captaining sides to defeat in big international tournaments, premier league campaigns, cup competitions throughout his career. One can argue the team hasn't been good enough but he hasn't exactly turned it on in the big moments when he is needed most.

I just think the whole narrative, he will improve United due to his experience is a null argument. Instead concentrate on the way in which he has now adapted into his role at spurs and how it replicates some of what Weghorst is doing. I actually think they are a perfect match but the lazy argument of kane suddenly changing the whole unite ethos because of his experience really nags at me.

    1. Zimo

Spurs play around Harry. He is a great goal scorer but lack of pace, dribbling and all round athleticism will see him get benched a lot at clubs better than Spurs. I said it during those rumours that city were never going to sign him. He isn't Mbappe!

    Current thoughts/dilemmas:

    - Start Henry and save FT or bring in Chilwell but have 10 starters this GW
    - Ode (c) is interesting me over Saka. He is a flat track bully and playing central

Chilwell move this GW rules out Bruno in 29 as I wouldn't be able to afford Haaland in 30. Having 2FTs over IB befreo BB29 and keeping options open may be the right play

Palace were fairly effective last night at packing the centre of the pitch to stop BHA playing through the middle. Might adopt different tactics v Arsenal but they have been conceding most chances down their left flank since the WC.

Decision time, accept I was wrong & play WC now, or take hits and hope I make them up with GW30 WC?

    A. -8 Lewis, Greenwood & Haaland to Chilwell, Havertz & Nacho
    B. Above with further -4 Tarkowski to Ricardo
    C. Wildcard

    A/B would give me:

    Kepa
    Henry Trippier Ricardo Gabriel Chilwell
    Saka Odegaard
    Havertz Kane Nacho

    Ward Salah Rashford Mitoma

I would then do Odegaard to Maddison next week & play BB with 13 DGW players

    Raya (Meslier)
    Trippier Zinchenko Schär Mee (Estupinan)
    Saka Odegaard (Salah Rashford Mitoma)
    Toney (Haaland Darwin)

    Current plan is

    Darwin + Haaland -> Watkins + Kane/Havertz (-4)
    (10 players)

Also tempted to get Chilwell in. For another hit, would you
    A) Mee -> Chilwell (10 players)
    B) Estupinan -> Chilwell (11 players)
    C) Leave it

FH this week. You've got a decent XI next week. WC and BB in back pocket to do something a bit different later in season. Imagine over the 2 weeks you can match the template (outscored it in 28, but will be up against a whole load of BBs in 29).

That was my original plan as well and I have a few WC drafts ready if I lose any players to injury before deadline.
However, I feel if I could have a BB with all DGW players it would be a distinct advantage.
But with Arsenal mids and Kane that would be difficult.

My new plan is a FH in DGW 29.
11 DGW players of my choice a bench of my choice.

Why does everyone like Schar so much more than Botman? Not sure I can justify the price difference when they seem so similar.

Martinelli is a decent pick. Problem is ideally you'd also want an Arsenal defender.

I would go B. Toney has the match ban looming with 1 more yellow, and many will be getting rid for Haaland in GW 30 anyways.

With only 10 players and only Saka from Arsenal:

      A) Roll the FT
      B) Martinelli
      C) Odegaard
      D) Martinelli + Odegaard for a -4 hit (I'd bench Burn)

Martinelli seems to be the player in form. Watch the game tonight and then decide. I'd only get one and play Burn.

      Kepa
      Trippier Tarkowski (White Shaw Bueno)
      Saka (Salah Rashford MacAllister Mitoma)
      Toney (Haaland Mitrovic)

      A) Mitro + Bueno > Watkins + James for -4 this GW [Field 7]
      B) Mitro + Haaland + Bueno > Watkins + Kane + James for -8 this GW [Field 8]
      C) Play Freehit and take -4 / -8 in GW 29

Would you bring in Maddison or Chilwell this week?

Would mean losing a Brighton mid.

      I have 2 FT's.

      Current Team

      Kepa

      Zinc / Henry / Trippier / Schar

      Saka / Odegaard / Rashford

      Haaland / Kane / Toney

      Raya | Mitoma | March | Estupinan

Yes - GW28 Chilwell for Schar & future proof GW29 as both DGW & uncertain on Schar fitness

Maybe GW29 for one week Possible Maddison for Odegaard

Toney at home is on pens and playing as a striker why is he not captained by many? Kane playing away against Southampton who don't concede as much as Leicester and Arsenal are the best team but goals are spread amongst 4 players

Because it's Kane. Toney just had a goal and assist against Southamptom away, so no doubt Kane could do the same.

      Kepa
      Badiashile, White, Henry, Burn, Kilman
      Odegaard
      Kane, Toney

      Ward, Salah^*, Rashford*, Mitoma*, Andreas*^, Haaland*^

      A) Andreas & Haaland > Saka & Watkins (-4)
      B) Andreas & Haaland > Maddison & Watkins (-4)
      C) Andreas & Salah > Maddison & Saka (-4)
      D) Badiashile, Andreas, Haaland > Chilwell, Saka, Watkins (-8)
      E) Badiashile, Andreas, Haaland > Chilwell, Maddison, Watkins (-8)
      F) Badiashile, Andreas, Salah > Chilwell, Maddison, Saka (-8)

After I TC'd Salah in GW25 and his return in GW26 I decided I'd keep him and lose Salah, then that Bournemouth performance made me think twice, but then when I re-think about it, if he scores that pen he finishes with probably 9 points (gets the 2 back for 90mins and not missing pen, 4 for scoring and probably all three bonus because winning goal) and I'd have said it was calculated risk. Now I'm unsure who to lose between Haaland and Salah. Especially with Salah's EO.

Keep Badiashile - I felt until out of the Chelsea team possible their best defender - just rotation an issue at the moment.

        A & B &C give 11 for GW28

Personal choice if Arsenal against Leeds united at home a single GW with A or C against B with two DGW players
