We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 28.

The earlier deadline – Friday at 18:30 GMT – means we’ve brought forward the Scout Picks, so there is the caveat that an injury or two could emerge from the remaining press conferences still to come.

This upcoming round will see six teams blank due to clashes with the FA Cup quarter-finals. Those sides without a fixture are Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and West Ham United.

As ever, we are limited to £83.0m for our first XI. And, after a reader vote ahead of 2022/23, an overall price cap of £100.0m is in place for our 15-man squad, too.

GOALKEEPER

FPL review: Kepa hauls again but James misses out on clean sheet 2

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.7m) has conceded just 13 goals in his 17 Premier League starts under Graham Potter, registering eight clean sheets along the way. Bonus points have been flowing, too, with 10 arriving in the last 12 matches.

Since returning to a 3-4-3 formation, there has been a mini-revival at Chelsea, with consecutive wins recorded against Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund and Leeds United. A match against Everton is far from straightforward, it has to be said, but the Toffees are without a win on the road under Sean Dyche.

DEFENDERS

FPL Double Gameweek 27 differentials: Mbeumo, Chilwell + Elliott 2

Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) averages more points per match (6.1) than any other midfielder or forward in FPL bar Erling Haaland (£12.1m) and Harry Kane (11.7m). With seven attacking returns and 14 clean sheets to his name in 25 appearances this season, Trippier is also second among outfield players for chances created. The last team to stop Nottingham Forest from scoring at The City Ground was Tottenham Hotspur all the way back in Gameweek 4, but the hosts could be without influential forward Brennan Johnson (£5.7m) for this one.

Such is our confidence in Chelsea’s backline, who have four clean sheets in their last six matches at Stamford Bridge, we’ve doubled up on the Blues’ rearguard. Ben Chilwell (£5.9m) has delivered an attacking return in each of his last three matches in all competitions and, subsequently, is the most-bought player of Gameweek 28. His role at set plays was key last time out, with all three of the chances he created and indeed his volleyed opener stemming from corner-kick situations.

On paper, Arsenal look the favourites to shut out the opposition in Gameweek 28: across the season, only Newcastle United have allowed fewer goals. The north London club will be coming up against a Crystal Palace side who have failed to score in eight of their 13 post-World Cup fixtures, finding the back of the net on fewer occasions than any other team. Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) is our selection, with his goal at Craven Cottage on Sunday taking his tally to three for the season. In that time, he’s recorded 23 goal attempts, 17 shots in the box and four big chances, all excellent totals among defenders.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Each week, a member of the Fantasy Football Scout community takes on the Scout Picks.

The community member who beats our team by the largest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher and a place in our Moderators and Contributors League for the following season.

Boleyn Boy’s 81-54 victory in Gameweek 6 gave them the biggest win (27 points difference) of 2022/23 so far.

Our champion this week is bbaggins79 who has gone for the following: Kepa; Trippier, Chilwell, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Mee; Maddison, Martinelli; Kane (c), Toney, Watkins

The Scout Picks are tied 13-13 with the community this season.

For Watkins maybe, for Iheanacho no. I'd also rather consider Havertz or Felix.

    Thoughts on this wc?

    Kepa, Steele
    Gabriel, Aurier, Shaw, Chillwell, Trippier
    Odegaard, Saka, Mitoma, Maddison, Rashford
    Kane, Watkins, Haaland

Maybe Maddison isn't worth his pricetag and might double up on Brighton mids?

Double Brighton. Who? Flip a coin.

Toney instead of Haaland and get back in GW29?
      Prefer Botman/anyone to Aurier
      Like the Shaw pick

Personal preference is pick the attacking players so Marti + Mit.

Wouldn't go Zouma though - Mings, Botman, Burn, Martinez, Senesi

If you can't spare 12m for M & M, I think something has gone wrong. Andreas is ok but if starting him in GW29 I think you're going to get hammered by BB teams

His xGI stats from past couple of games are huge. He will score points in next 3 games in two gws. Only question for me is the IB and fitness. I would wait over the the IB for 29 if you have other transfers you can make in 28.

Of course you can argument that Leicester will still continue not scoring chances but what if the xGI form Madders was converted to 10-20p from last two gws - would this change your thinking?

Would you bring in Chilwell if it meant Toney -> Haaland was unaffordable in Gw30? I'd have to sell Kane in order to get Haaland otherwise

I'm in same boat and think I will stick with Henry - tough games in the double but Brentford are decent so could see him picking up something over the 2 games

Seen it mentioned that he might be wing back. I'd take one assist over the 2 games! 6-7 points would be good return

    Bit of advice needed.

    Am I crazy?

Thinking about saving my other free transfer and fielding 10 men. Team is this:
    Kepa
    Mee Trippier Schar Zinchenko
    Saka Odegard Rash*
    Kane Watkins Toney

    Raya 3x Bri

Don’t really want to get rid of the non players and saving 2ft for next week could be big. Means missing out on Chillwell, Maddison etc but what are your thoughts? Appreciated!

The way I see it is, the difference between 10 or 11 players is likely 2 points realistically.

I'd have no problem saving, could be a powerful play in 29

    Trippier - James - Chilwell
    Saka - Ødegaard - Trossard - Maddison

It is, but still the bookies second and third to a clean sheet after Gunners.

And I prefer to have 3 attacking players from the Gunners.
Especially after Zinch gametime yesterday and Saliba injury.

After all Trippier, James and Chilwell are good for an attacking return too, and Pope has quiet a decent number of saves 😉

Salah will go for Billing. The former comes up against two good defences in GW29 and Billing has better fixtures and of course a double like Salah

    Would you:

    A) Keep Toney on WC this week. Risk him getting a YC vs leics (then take -4 for Havertz for dbl), or if not go in GW29 with risk he gets his 10th in his first double. Would also mean Toney -> Haaland in GW30 (instead of Watkins -> Haaland) for £ reasons.

    B) Get Havertz this week instead and go w/out Toney entirely.

Bearing in mind i'm chasing in my MLs.

I think B just about wins it.

Mitoma outscores Andreas by a lot (and is a good hold), I think Shaw probably outscores Zouma even with less fixtures. Martinelli better pick than Almiron but the latter has 3 games and former might be subject to a bit of rotation.

          But its not clear cut

        I have B currently.

        Almiron...
Probably the biggest ? of my WC this week. He could do something vs NFO though and has a DGW in 29. I think if I keep him, I would swap him out for Mac Allister next week.

        Mitoma...
        A DGW29 must have imo.

        Shaw...
I do worry about MUN's defence record now Casemiro is suspended, but they do have some kind fixtures coming:
NEW - not exactly prolific in attack
BRE (H) - could have Toney suspended
        EVE (H)
        NFO

(Martinelli just played a full game + extra time, so might have reduced minutes).

Seems like Isak will start this GW, Wilson said so himself on a podcast.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/BenDinnery/status/1636689809577000961

Might be a good punt... but can't pick him over Toney or Watkins imo :/.

I think you hit the nail on the head - whilst he could be a good shout, he isn't ahead to Toney or Watkins if you need a forward in that price bracket. And just because he starts this week, doesn't mean he starts the double...

    FT to field 11:

    A. Haaland to Watkins

    B. Estupinan to Chilwell

May get Chilwell in for 29 if doing A, would hold Haaland in 29 if doing B

Wildcard Active for GW28. Planning on BB DGW29.

    A) Almiron vs NFO
    B) Son vs SOU
    C) Trossard vs CRY

Either way, plan is to transfer out the above for Mac Allister DGW29.

Almiron gives me a bit of a safety net as he has a DGW so I can use next week's FT elsewhere if necessary to cover an injury/suspension an maximise my BB.

Open to strong GW28 alternatives in midfield (I have Saka and Buendia and will be playing 4-3-3).

      Current WC

      Kepa
      Schar, Trippier, White, Chilwell
      Saka, Buendia, Almiron
      Kane, Watkins, Havertz

      Raya, Mitoma, Shaw, Rashford

      7.8 ITB (Haaland fund)
      Only got BB left

I'm just outside top 100, trying to sneak in, so looking for consistency and stability to navigate the close of the season with just FTs.

He has been in my WC drafts a couple of times. I am having a hard time seeing past he plays for LEI. The fixtures right through to GW30 do look quite opportune though.

Do you see him doing more AWAY vs BRE than the options above?

There is definitely a lot of hype there but for some reason, I can't put my finger on it, I am not sold on it. (yet)

ive dumped my 2 brentford on w/c ,i know they won 2-0 but i was unimpressed and i know toney scored but my word he is playing deep a lot of the time,i just fancy that eventually maddison will haul, they just cant keep missing so many chances he is providing

Anytime I go on record and say I don't fancy a player (or transfer out an attacking player), I stick a tenner on them to score next game. I am about £200 up this season.

I read somewhere that BRE have been very vulnerable through the middle of late, so someone like Maddison should be unlocking them no problem.

I have a similar feeling about offloading BRE players, having gone BRE free (excl Raya) - I can see Toney scoring... but his ban risk is off putting, given I am going to need every last one of my FTs in the run in.

I look forward to meddling with my team for another 6 hours. Rest assured, whoever I don't pick will have a blinder this GW!

What to do here? 1FT 1.2 to spend
    Raya
    Chilwell Trippier Henry Mings
    Saka Martinelli
    Toney Watkins
    (Rashford-Mitoma-Haaland-Shaw-Salah)
Is it best to use my Free Hit or may be just one transfer?

Yes I'm thinking for 28-9 particularly. Might not keep him too long after that but it seems a good time to strike while he's in form with 3 nice home fixtures

Save your FH bud. I burned mine and although I got a decent return, I wish I had it for what is to come. Your 10 there is going to be better than most non-chip squads out there.

I think A is only an option on a FH, C has a good 28 but assuming you want a better choice in the doubles in 29.
1 over 2 for me and 3 might not make it to the end of the doubles especially given he's in the England squad

B and C then consider getting another Brighton back later. I am aiming to offload March (maybe for Almiron) and get Macalister in later.
I think Eustupinan is too good to lose.
