Here, two-time Indian FPL champion Lateriser decides which in-form Newcastle United forward is his favourite pick.

The FFS Pro Pundits 34

We’re in the final stretch of what feels like a season that has gone on forever. I wanted to touch base on a talking point that’s worth diving deeper into.

One upcoming decision for a lot of FPL managers is whether to buy Callum Wilson (£7.0m) or Alexander Isak (£6.9m). The former has scored eight times in just 395 minutes since Gameweek 29, which means he is scoring a goal every 50 minutes – this is ridiculous.

He’s in the form of his life and, in my opinion, Newcastle United don’t have much reason to ‘protect’ him with only four league games to go. Each is nicely spaced out.

The underlying numbers of Wilson and Isak since Gameweek 29 are quite telling. In this period, Wilson has had 395 minutes while Isak has had 542. Outside of expected minutes, Wilson destroys Isak on almost every single metric and I think there’s only one winner here.

We’ve entered an age where expected minutes seem to dictate everything in FPL and I think this seems like an exceptional situation. Let me just state some of the relevant statistics between the two.

Why is Trippier still in peoples teams?

He has one decent score in the last 14 games! majority of those were 2 points - garbage!

On FPL black box they showed that he is still in the top 4 for defenders expected goal involvement. Overperforming early in the season, possibly underperforming now.

possibly underperforming? he's done nothing for 14 game. No possibly about it. No clean sheets, no attacking returns.

I think they’ll likely get even minutes as you say, starting one each. Still big upside to have both however.

IF, and big if, Howe sticks to what he's done in the recent past when they're both fit, then Isak starts against Arsenal, Leeds and Leicester, with Wilson starting against Brighton.

I don't think it's clear any more though given Wilson's form. There is a chance if Longstaff is out that he plays both against Arsenal with Isak on the LW.

    Start:

    A) MacAllister

MacAllister actually has higher % of any time goal scorer by the bookies (38% vs 32%), gets 5 points per goal and get cs points.

    Might leaning towards BigMac. Thoughts?

Next week, maybe, if Longstaff back and Howe showing no signs of playing Isak at LW from the start. ASM is back in training, but expect him to be eased back in.

Don't really like Joelinton as a pick if playing central mid as it impacts his attacking threat. Willock still seems to get chances from midfield, so he could be an option for the DGW.

What’s the thoughts behind no Arsenal? 29 goals in last 10 games, don’t think that changes this weekend.

Line up looks fine, could argue Dalot over Tripp. Trippys attacking returns non existent.

Salah will play 90. Pepe knows he can breeze past Leeds without Haaland at home, or could easily see him coming off very early. Might have to cap the Egyptian.
