Why aren't Man City keeping clean sheets? 3

6 points is Ederson‘s (£5.4m) total score across Manchester City’s four Double Gameweeks this season. The Brazilian didn’t play a minute of City’s latest ‘double’. On a similar subject…

4 save points registered by Stefan Ortega (£3.7m) in Double Gameweek 37 – that’s as many as Ederson has managed in 34 run-outs in 2022/23.

4.5 points per start averaged by Jason Steele (£4.0m) in 2022/23, the best rate in the division among current number ones.

14 blanks in 18 starts at the Emirates for Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) this season. No other FPL defender has as many ‘starting blanks’ on home soil.

1 shot attempted by Andrew Robertson (£6.8m) since he took up his hybrid left-back/centre-half role in Jurgen Klopp’s 3-2-2-3 set-up in Gameweek 30 – and none in the last eight matches. Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.8m), now ‘inverting’ into central midfield, has had 12 efforts in that time.

5 shots in the box registered by Yerry Mina (£4.3m) in his last two Everton appearances. That’s eight such efforts in six starts for the Toffees in 2022/23, a tally that no other FPL defender can better over their own last half-dozen run-outs. Up next for Mina and Everton are Bournemouth, who have allowed more attempts from set plays than any other club this season.

11 shots attempted by Tosin Adarabioyo (£4.4m) since his unbroken run in the Fulham XI started in Gameweek 30. Newcastle United’s Fabian Schar (£5.1m) is the only centre-half to have registered more efforts in that time.

Kane over Son for GW38 punt right?

Let me share a very useful post with you: https://twitter.com/LetsTalk_FPL/status/1661666178085842944

The ownership of players in the top 100k is slowly changing, but you can see that there's plenty of great differentials up for grabs.

Where's this clamour for crazy differentials the rest of the time?
GW38 seems to have broken everybody's brain. I know, nobody has Maupay, so when I get him and he hauls, I'll win my ML.

I'm starting to think playing 'normally' in GW38 is going to be the biggest rank-gaining differential of all, with everyone else getting Reiss Nelson and Odsonne Edouard.

I've done Mac to Eze, can put my feet up now while everybody
          a) goes nuts with 90 mins to go tracking teams
          b) realises that half the team news is fake from bad faith actors anyway
          c) ends up with Maupay, Martial and Solanke for a -12 (if they're lucky and the app hasn't crashed)

Any chance Leeds play very defensive and look to play for a 1-0 win?

    1. Arteta

It's possible. Although I don't think they will keep a clean sheet against Spurs.

No. Unless Everton go behind early, the equation we're looking at for Leeds is that they must win by a 3 goal margin. If any game is set up for a 6-3 / 5-5, I think its this one

    Thoughts on this FH?

    Pickford
    TAA - Shaw - Tark
    Salah - Rashford - Odegaard - Trossard - Eze
    Kane - Haaland

    Iversen - Alvarez - Mina - Kiwior

Rashford on a FH is a waste, guaranteed 1 pt.

Mahrez may be due a benching but injuries to Foden and Grealish make this unlikely at Brentford

Ha Ha Grealish might be but the rest have knocks and are unlikely to be risked against Brentford although Ake could be pushed in as he needs game time before FA Cup Final

Lots of options this g/w. These are some. Which kooks better. Chasing 30 points

    a) Fernandes > Salah (c)
    b) Fernandes & Isaak > Salah & Alvarez (-4)
    c) Fernandes & Watkins > Salah & Alvarez (-4)
    d) Fernandes & Grealish > Salah & Odegaard/Tross (-4)
    e) Fernandes & Haaland > Salah & Kane (-4)

    1. agueroooooney

How many points can still realistically be made up in the final GW?

    1. No Kane No Gain
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

I say 50. But 20-30 is more realistic. For example, if you captain salah and he drops 15 X 2, your rival captains Haaland and he gets 1 x 2 that’s 28 there alone caught up.

      1. No Kane No Gain
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

If he doesn’t own salah but still decent gains already even if he does. Then a Eze or a Kane haul and the points can be made

    2. L S P
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

20 or so, esp if one is trying to make up points against an active player.

    3. El Muñeco

Depends how similar the teams are. If you both have pretty template teams, has to be done on the captaincy but that could be a 30 point swing if you nail it

    4. Bubz
      • 12 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

How long is a piece of string kind of question. Completely depends on how different your teams are. If you have entirely different teams and captains then you could feasibly make up 30-40 points

If you are talking a single person, then I would say 20-30 is best case.

But it really depends on the level of differential. You probably need 5 or 6 differentials to really gain that with 2 or 3 of them scoring well.

Will we get leaked team news on Sunday afternoon?
I can't recall there being anything reliable in previous seasons. But I was generally out of the running in my mini-league and selected my team a day or two in advance.

We will. Your bit about reliability is key. I think it depends on the team. Pretty sure the Man City stuff on Sunday was all over the place and very little was 100% right. But yesterday it seemed spot on.

Haaland could easily start on Sunday and get 60 mins plus...
Pep could rest him for the FA Cup final. No point galloping around the wide open spaces of Wembley for 90 mins + possible extra time to get injured before the best chance Pep will ever have of lifting the CL cup with City.

That is true, but the way Pep has been playing Haaland I can't see him getting dropped when the FA Cup is almost a week after the Brentford game. Plenty of time to rest.

Doubt it. He is being eased back in and mostly being used as an impact sub. Ten Hag will probably go with Rashford, Martial, Antony up front and then bring in Garnacho around 70min mark.

    Is this worth a -4?
This could help me secure more starting players for final GW

    Haaland + March -> Kane + Eze

    DDG (Martinez)
    TAA Tripier Botman Shaw Estupian
    Salah Grealish Rashford Mitoma March
    Wilson Haaland Alvarez

Got the exact money with 0.0 ITB

I think its a good move - assuming those left play - but who is benched?

Guess I would bench (after transfer):
        Mitoma Estupian Botman
(Grealish, Rashford, Alvarez seem like rotation risk also tbh)

I think Rashford is safe. Minutes will probably be more important - even if Top 4 is sealed I would think he starts Sunday. Grealish hasn't played since RM either so I think he starts if he isn't too hungover still. Alvarez is the risk, but I guess Mitoma not a bad one to come in.

Feel a little devoid of options really. 2FT, £0.4m ITB, and looking to make up a 5-6 point (subject to how tonight goes) deficit on the Top 10k. Not against a hit if one of the front 7 is out.

    Raya (Kepa)
    Trent, Trippier, Shaw (Estupinan, Botman)
    Salah, Mitoma, Rashford, Grealish, Bruno
    Isak, Haaland (Greenwood)

Haaland to Kane is on my radar, possibly even without indication the City man starts. Probably with Mitoma to Eze - but leaves Grealish.

Could do Grealish & Bruno to Son & Olise (not the cash for Eze).

Boring move might just be Grealish & Mitoma to Eze and Ode.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome? Figure I'll have a few plans in place and adapt as pressers and possible leaks land.

Is Mitoma really a priority sale? Still putting up decent numbers. Haaland & Grealish - Kane & Eze seems the smoothest of your suggestions

Yeah that probably makes much more sense for the first one...

Am thinking the same -4 depending what happens to Mahrez

Macallister to Eze is nailed for me

Then mahrez to Trossard or Gapko or Haaland to Kane

I have very little interest in this last week.

It's so dull. Everything's decided other than relegation and even that is entirely in Everton's hands up against Bournemouth.

Just gonna wait until 2 hours before deadline on Sunday as per usual and see if any team leaks allow for some interesting punts. Boring season. Hope next one we have fewer DGWs and more freedom to do off-template stuff.

You could go off-template this week if you wanted to?

Not with 1 FT I can't if I want to maximize points. I'm in a few MLs that I want to finish well in.

          Fair enough...

Good luck for a 'boring' finish in that case 😉

I'm feeling Haaland > Kane. What you reckon?

Any chance mendy starting tonight instead of kepa? 2 points are crucial at this stage in my ml 🙂
