I've done a detailed analysis and concluded that you do better if your midfield is kitted out in a red home kit.

    Quite possibly the defence too.

So I've been steadily turning my team less blue.

If you're not sure, Crystal Palace offer you a half and half option.

    Bottomed

    Ramsdale
    TAA Etsu Tripp
    Ode Saka Rash Mbuemo Mitoma
    Haalnd DCL

    Areola Beter Bell Surridge

Obviously question marks around DCL but other than that?

Trippier seems an unnecessary luxury at 6.5m with tough fixtures.

I will never understand why people would waste four or even more weeks on planning and then wildcard in such early stages. To each their own, but it really is kind of mad. I couldn't justify this plan unless I was going to use BB in GW1, but even then I would have my doubts.

Yea you have to let your team play out the fixtures you've planned for, even if you have a bad start.

Because we're planning in the dark to a greater extent than once the season has kicked off. Each season is different, and I think there's more new info on offer in the first few weeks than there is at any point later in the season, e.g. how will Liverpool's new midfield fare? Will TAA lose set pieces? How will Havertz affect Ode/Martinelli/Saka? etc etc. The template usually contains a good few errors in it, and evolves most rapidly in the early stages. Once we get past GW5/6, I rarely feel the need to completely overhaul my team. So I'm quite up for WC5/6 this year I think

I am sure pre-season will change everything but been sat on this Kane / Haaland team for a few days now.....hopefully all subs are starters. Any suggestions very welcome.

    Ramsdale
    Estupinan - TAA - Akanji
    Saka - Mount - Mitoma - Kluivert
    Haaland - Kane - DCL
Subs: Areola - Botman - Beyer - Enzo

These Kane and Trent drafts are tough.
      Kane + Kluivert + Mount
      OR
      Jesus + Saka + 8m mid

The 4.5 - 5.0 midfielder bracket is pretty thin so if Kluivert doesn't play or is useless, then where to go.

Going two 6m midfielders instead of Enzo and Mount can open a few more doors as theres a few more midfielder options to swap around to in the 5.5-6m bracket, than the 4.5-5m

How is it that the template has been decided before a ball is kicked?

Are most people on here seeking to form a template squad?

    1. LangerznMash
      • 10 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

Logically we pick starting players that we think have decent opening fixtures and are good value based on the current info available. This narrows the options down to a short list of players which collectively forms the template squad.

Fixtures, last season's form, friendlies. And maybe the conformity to those players promoted in podcasts/videos is even stronger when we don't have any actual (competitive) football to base our decisions on?
And no, I'm not personally aiming to be template

If you look at the available data/ news you’re likely to arrive at at least a half template team independently and then people rob from RMTs from there

      1. Andy_Social
        • 14 Years
        3 years, 1 month ago

Individually, only 2 of my squad are under 5% owned differentials - my keeper and an Everton player. So you might think it's template. However, the combination, making a Brontosaurus formation, is unlikely to be common.

This is true, so a core template emerges naturally so perhaps we should not decry selections as template.

It becomes a bit of a meaningless word the way it is flung around.

Agreed. I don’t think template is an inherently bad thing unless you blindly follow it or go against your own gut decisions then blame the template.

The main problem is the level to which it is spread around through YouTube etc which means that people making no effort at all slap a team together with no thought and influence effective ownership too much.

I would guess Porro RB and Udogie LB for Spurs. Chelsea CBs no idea. Thiago Silva, Badiashile, Fofana and Colwill all options so I'd be very hesitant to touch any of them.

I had a draft a few days ago with 2x4.5 Chelsea defenders, to ensure one starts. But then I decided that's silly. One 4.5 has to start, and if we know who, i'll definitely recruit him.

Emerson might start as he is a full back and Porro isn't.

Yeah I prob won’t go ahead with it but double city attack, triple arsenal, triple brighton (who most think have best opening GW fixtures), hoping Everton can get a clean Vs Fulham/Villa, hoping salah gets mega points as captain Vs Bournemouth and then Wildcarding the likes of Nkunku who then have great run of fixtures. Plus the team is still mostly template. And gives us 2 weeks to see who are good options

I've not got Shaw, as AP does for a reason - now hear me out.
Shaw picked up a good few baps for his passing. De Gea can'rt pass so he'd roll the ball out to Shaw who racked up the pass points. But Onana will grab the passing stats for himself.
Having Rashie and Bruno, I'm waiting for Onana to come in at 5m to complete the set.

I said the same thing on the last page. Barely hit double-figures for league goals in the last 2.5 years.

Haven't changed my team since picking it on the day the game went live.

    Ramsdale
    Shaw Stones TAA Estupinan
    Rashford Saka Foden Mitoma
    Haaland Jesus

    Areola Brownhill Woodrow Beyer

    You like?

Haven't changed mine either. We don't have any new information so I'm just leaving it until something meaningful happens in preseason.

And yes I like that team. No weaknesses.

How's it looking chaps? Most likely Haaland keeping captain for a good while hence no Salah

    Pickford
    TAA Gabriel Estipunian
    Saka Rashford Bruno Mitoma
    Haaland Jesus DCL

    Travers Botman Beyer Mendes

Looks good. I might drop DCL to a 4.5m fodder and upgrade Botman.

Yep thinking Mbuemo even would be a better shout than DCL. Or Ferguson
