Gross, Mitoma, March should all be safe. Think the rotation fears are being overblown off the back of last season's post-cup fatigue tbh

Buonanotte, Enciso, Pedro all waiting in the wings.
I can't see who else aside from Enciso is most likely to start no.10? Grob?
Striker spot is a nightmare, any one of Ferguson, Undav and Welbeck could start in that one spot any given week

Not Groß, he'll be in the pivot. I think it'll be Enciso, with competition from Pedro & Lallana.

Yeah Ferguson/Welbeck might share mins too much for either to be worth it

Re Rice as 4th mid and ‘locking’ transfer… curious, do you mean we will inevitably want to transfer him out, or would we ‘have’ to transfer out a 4th Arsenal player as the next transfer because of the rules?

5.5 Rice for Arsenal for one or two games doesn't sound like a big risk in isolation, but it doesn't fell like it has a high ceiling, and if you are on one FT and need to transfer someone else out, you are already in hitsville. Not worth it imo.

Need to see how things look with them both on the pitch with Mount, and then how Onana would change build-up too, and then you still have the possibility of someone like Hojlund joining as well. I'm not taking much from last season as a model for what I expect this season, things could look very different this year for both Rashford and Bruno

Looks good and you could well have 4 penalty takers there, which helps too.

Not counting Bournemouth, but the less established clubs do seem to get fewer spot kicks too. Saying that, attacking teams like Brentford and Brighton mixed it up in and around the box and got a fair amount of penalties.

Mings and Pau Torres both left sided centre backs. Does Emery bench Mings to accommodate Torres or he will play a back 3?

I'm pretty sure it'll be a back 4 still but we may see a complete overhaul with Torres & Carlos replacing Mings & Konsa

If he plays a back three then 5m Moreno wingback could be good. He was very good last season. Cash at 4.5 I'm not sure he's favoured, yet.

Do you remember when Gerrard tried benching Mings, then player power kicked in, and he was gone.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years

I thought Carlos had replaced Mings before he got injured, didn't he?

Cash has no competition currently but apparently Villa are looking for another RB. I really like Moreno but don't think he's fit

        1. Andy_Social
          • 13 Years

Carlos at 4.5 could be good if Cash is rotated. Carlos and Torres do look a formidable pairing - can't afford to be sentimental about Mings. I've got 'Villa 4.5 Def' pencilled in for my starting squad.

        2. Haa-lala-land
          • 5 Years

Iirc when Carlos returned from injury somewhere round GW30, the question was who will he replace, Konsa or Mings, and it happened that Carlos was the one benched.
I've only gone back to look at Villas final three games of last season, but in each, Konsa and Ming's start with Carlos benched.
You're right with 4.5 Cash after Youngs moved on

I was thinking before the injury but I've checked now was only 2 games. So they started:
            GW1 - Konsa & Carlos
            2 - Carlos & Mings
            3 - Mings & Konsa (Carlos injured)
            4 - Konsa & Chambers

Trent, Shaw, Saka, Rashford and the front 2 all strong picks.

      Porro might be too.

But 4 or 5 of the XI are questionable for various reasons of rotation or quality or consistency.

Maddison might be fine. Zinc is good but is he the best Arsenal pick in defence?

So 6 out of 10 RMT.

    There's 1.7m players registered.

It's a bit difficult to blame spoon feeding/ content creators for a so called template because you'd have to be pretty engaged to log on and select your team in the summer with a month to go.

Pricing and % selected by will make some difference but the best footballers do tend to be consistently good, on the whole.

Probably. For starts and consistency of clean sheets plus assists.

There's White but there's better value Arsenal options in defence.

There's Porro if he's playing for attacking returns.

There's Brentford and Brighton options who are cheaper so you've probably got. And Moreno when he's fit again for clean sheets and goal involvement too.

Thanks. Yeah I have Gabriel and don’t think White is worth the extra 0.5. Porro was looking great at the end of last season, that’s a good option but maybe Spurs will take time adjusting to new system. And I have Estupiñian already. Never realised Moreno was recovering from hamstring surgery so will need to hold off on his for now.

I've gone with Stones as my 5.5 pick.

City's have great fixtures for the first 10 and Stones was getting a lot more game time in a more advanced position on the pitch. Plus Stones is a goal threat on set pieces as well.

From a defensive standpoint, Utd have good fixtures in gw1 and gw3 but they are both followed by games where I'd expect Utd to concede.

Think I'd trust the City defence more than Utd

I was on Stones and forgot to include him above at 5.5. I switched him out to Shaw.

He's great but if he's playing 3 in every 4 games you're down to your benched defender.

If you're not getting 80% + of the starts it's a juggling act.

If you can afford a reliable replacement he's a good option for when he is playing.

Now I have the Sesame street theme tune playing on repeat in my head.

          And I love it.

      B

      For completeness...

      Or a defender
      1 midfielder
      And Jesus for the mix!

A bit set on this...for now, but do you think Sterling should be Mitoma?

    Pickford (Areola)
    Shaw / Estu / Gabriel (Bot/Bell)
    Mbeumo / Salah / Saka / Bruno / Sterling
    Haaland / Wissa (4.5)

Not having Jesus too much of a risk perhaps?

Not overly keen on double Brentford attack myself.

I wouldn't say not having Jesus is a risk but he's at that price point where you can easily move to another forward who's on form and racking up points if one presents itself. Having a 6.0 forward as your 2nd striker makes it a little less flexible to move onto a different forward should you decide to move on from Wissa

If I go without Salah and Haaland, it means I can have all the players I want, as opposed to the ones I need.

If you don't want Salah or Haaland then go for it. Play your own game.

If they can make up say 500 points + half again extra as a captain then you'll be fine.

Salah and Haaland can get 250 points each and if you captain one that's 750 points on those 2.

Just watched the Dele Alli interview with Gary Neville.....he seems like an amazing guy, and it would be great if he gets back to his best.

Looking at my team, which would you prefer?

    A) Zinchenko, Stones, Bruno
    B) Trent, Ake, Mbeumo

2016 Dele Alli for £5.0m would break the game.

Who do you think will regress?

Who do you think will play better?

      Me

Maybe not play better, but as a United fan would hope Garnacho plays more. Though with Mount, I'm not sure. The £5m still feels like a punt unfortunately

      Odegaard and Tripper to regress
Sterling, Son and Mount to be better

Liverpool attack to progress; defence to regress.
        Same for Spurs.
Chelsea to progress in all areas.
Newcastle and Brighton to regress a little.
Fulham, Palace, West Ham, Bournemouth, Wolves, Forest all to regress.

If Kane stays his head could be again elsewhere. If he goes, Spurs attack is going to be weaker also.

On the basis of the one friendly I've watched so far, I'll agree with the above on Mount to improve.

Yesterday he played alongside Mainoo in the pivot with Hannibal as the 10, but can't really say yet since no Bruno/Casemiro on the pitch with him. If I had to guess I'd say Mount & Bruno as 8s.

He still took up some really advanced positions, pressing Leeds CBs, making runs in behind. Came pretty close to scoring

I watched this game (Leeds fan) and don't recall Mount once entering the 18 yard box. Hannibal stood out as the best player. Sancho was dreadful.

Dispossessed Mullen & tried a lob (just outside the box I think). Another run in behind just after that was offside

What stood out for me was how exposed ManU were on the counter when Mount was on the pitch.

Bruno 50-60% of the time is my guess.

Multiple tinkers has led me to this.

    Ramsdale 4.0
    Gabriel James Estupinan Mee Botman
    Salah Saka Mount Mitoma Mbuemo
    Haaland DCL 4.5.

Ideally would have wanted Bruno or Rashford but can't get them in. Or I could go without United attack completely and use the 0.5itb to drop Mount to a 4.5 and upgrade Mee or Estupinan to Trent. Would you do this? Or just pray that DCL ends up at United on loan?

James to 4.5 who rotates well gives the missing million to get Bruno after that.

Thinking about trying the Sky game for the first time this year in addition by FPL. Anyone do both - if so can anyone recommend an article / video that explains how they differ and what different strategies apply (assuming any)?

Son has historically poor penalty stats, 7 in, 5 missed but starting from 19/20 he has scored 5 and missed only one. The one I saw and remember was well taken, (to left corner I think, but not sure). Gk had zero chance anyway. Perhaps he has trained them? I believe him to be better pen taker now than in his earlier career.

If Richarlison is on the pitch, I envisage him snatching the ball out of Sons hands

Who is the best 6.5m midfielder out of Mbuemo or Mitoma?

Mbuemo - fixtures and no Toney
Mitoma - great player but worse fixtures
