West Ham's opening fixtures are so hot and cold, I think it would make owning Bowen very frustrating. Maybe look at him from GW10

is this season template more "template" than ever
Forward options, pretty obvious, Haaland Jesus 4.5m

    Mid
    Saka Ødegaard Martinelli (choose 1-3)
Rashford B.Fernandes (choose 1 or both)
Mbeumo Mitoma (choose 1 or both)
    Salah Maddison Foden (differential)

or is it the same every season?

    1. George Sillett

Not really. The decision to include either TAA or Salah or in some cases both is resulting in a divergence of squad selection.

If you come on here and on twitter it will always seem like there is an obvious template and you'd be crazy to go against it. There are some obvious picks and some which are being touted by the pundits which maybe aren't so great.

The midfield in particular looks really deep this year to me, defence too. I'm just a bit unsure with the value in the forwards, but I'm sure some options will emerge.

      1. Bobby Digital

What led me to the template was fixtures. I always play the fixtures. They are key.

Fixtures till when? First 3? First 6? First 12?

Are these good fixtures based on your own analysis or have you used a fixture ticker provided to you? Are there any teams you think that may underperform / overperform?

I'm not picking on you personally, just saying, the template is very easy to avoid if you make your own assumptions and opinions rather than following that of others. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Same for me and I think Luton in their first game back is a banana skin, especially for Brighton defence, so I'm just avoiding all together.

I'd have SIX mids if I could. Currently on...
        Rashford - Son - Saka - BrunoF - Foden
... but I think one of Richarlison/Sterling could explode as an underpriced gem.

Hopefully the club is on the comeback trail . Sold Viktor Gyokores for £20M and bought Ellis Simms who scored twice last night in a pre season friendly before being taken off at half time. Robins has stated that he intends to sign another 10 players for a serious crack at promotion. Exciting season looking likely

Very first draft. Tear it apart.

    Fabianski Raya

    White Estupiñan Ahmedhodžić
    Saka Martinelli Madders Mitoma Jensen
    Kane Haaland

    Raya Doughty Archer 4.0 Def

Given the way things usually pan out with a WC in the first 6 weeks I’m not too concerned with the lightweight defence. Hate not having Salah though.

    3. Deulofail
      • 8 Years

I think the advantage of having one while owning the other is minimal, as both are likely to see minutes in any given game. It could feel more valuable than it is because you are 'covering' more options (and you don't have to choose one and get it wrong!). But you are still spending money on each player that could be spent elsewhere, so you should probably only buy each of them individually if yuo think they are a good pick individually.

I actually think there is an advantage to owning multiple players that are competing for the same position in the same team - just not much at all when it's only 2 players (except when they are in clear 1-to-1 competition for 90 mins, like GKs). I planned to start with 5 City attackers once (a couple of seasons ago?) until Foden got an injury before GW1.

How will you predict which one starts on a weekly basis? I'm not quite convinced by all the chat about extra mins for Foden in central positions just yet tbh, and don't think I'll own either let alone both

      1. Merlin the Wraith
        • 8 Years

Apart from maybe Ederson & Haaland, (maybe KDB when fully fit) how can anyone predict Pep starting XI? Does that prevent any of us trying to pick 3 City players? Probably not. Alvarez is just as much of a lottery as any other, however, at 6.5m he does give me the extra money to spend elsewhere which includes bench cover.

I thought OPs question implied that when one is benched the other starts..?

But actually yes, all this does prevent me from picking 3 City players. Besides Haaland, last season I had KDB for a while at the end, and 2 very short, very unproductive spells of Foden & Ake - which is starting to feel like a pretty typical pattern now.

Basically you'd start both with the idea that its likely that worst case, at least one of them will start, but you will have really strong returns in the weeks that they both start.

They'd have to be getting an exceptional rate of returns to compensate for a 1pt-er in your 11 virtually every week. Its not for me, I don't think. But good luck if you want to try it

Doesn't give you any advantage unless one doesn't start, and even then you need to pay for that advantage by having a decent replacement from the bench.

That's what a forum is for.. opinion. No one opinion is worth any more than anyone else's. Difference here though is certain contributors tend to try & browbeat others they consider 'lessers' into their own way of thinking.

Hmm ok. I don't see any 'browbeating' going on right now...
But it does depend - this question is fairly open so I'm just offering my own experinces of City double/triple ups (different from others, I guess), but for example with the Schade/Wissa question below there is a more 'correct' answer if you've observed how both players have been used.

Huh? It's not a matter of opinion. There is an answer that is objectively true, theoretically. I could be wrong, of course, but I'm trying to answer that question.

I'm not saying that I think, subjectively, that they are individually poor picks.

The question is about the interaction of owning and starting two players from the same team, vying for the same/similar role in that team. You don't seem to have given your thoughts on that yet, only your opinion on their worth as individuals.

I don't know why certain people feel the need to get into personal bickering instead of properly reading and responding to the content of other people's posts so we can actually talk about (fantasy) football.

If this is a forum, I should be free to discuss the topics at hand, yet this is the second time in 2 days you've basically told me to shut up.

If you don't like my style, then you don't have to engage with me, but I was answering the question earnestly, putting effort into contributing based on the OP's terms, and quite liberal with phrases like "I think" and "probably" to show that I am not certain of the answer(s).

I'd appreciate it if certain posters would stick to the topics and stop trying to browbeat people into silence or conformity.

What's everyone's thoughts on a dirt bench. Seen loads of drafts with great starting 11s but absolutely shocking benches where you'd be lucky if one starts. Surely high risk tactic given we can't be 100% on starting line ups..

I'm considering it. At most I will have a 4.5 defender on the bench and rest as cheap as possible.

It is certainly high risk but potentially high reward.
If we uncover one £4.0m defender and one £4.5m forward that get a fair amount of minutes then I will be going with a £16.5/17.0m bench for sure.

Don't mind it to start with just for 6 weeks or so before European competitions kick off, especially if we have reliable starters at 4m. Prefer a slightly stronger bench after that.

Schade has been there for half a season already (loan before buy). He plays on the left of the front 3 in 433 & drops to the bench when they play 352

Hey guys, hope you are all enjoying the tinkering!
Quick question I hope someone might be able to help me out with. My sister is trying to book PSG tickets for when she visits Paris on 27th August. They seem to be sold out on the website. Does anyone know of any reputable sites to try to get tickets?
    Cheers!

Mubama's ownership about to fly up!
Worth noting that he registered an attack return in each of his appearances in the UEFA Conference League last season. 26 goals in 31 academy matches.

Interested to see how Spurs line up with Maddison in their side.

Postecoglou was known for his 4-3-3. That being said he always talks about movement and finding the space, rigid formation is not too important.

This does lead me to believe Son is a tempting little differential, he always plays his best from the left when he has the freedom to go through the middle whenever the right chance arises.

      One to watch in preseason.

Regulion could be an under the radar option at 4.5m. Sessegnon injured too

I'd imagine Ange is looking for a new LB.

He's known for using inverted full backs, which Regulion certainly isn't

I've heard other reports saying they're asking for 70m euros. So that's 60m in pounds. I'm sure they can come to an agreement for around 50ish million pounds then which would be doable.

      Looks sold enough.

If Salah starts well again loads will be locked out of him for a while.

Don't get me started on the goalkeeper picks!

Personally prefer Saliba or Gabriel in defence. Why bench Chilwell?

Foden may well be better than Sterling.

      Good luck.

I got it for Gabriel or Saliba
Chilwell is benched only for the first game against Liverpool
I have a good feeling for Sterling this season but yes Foden may be a better idea.
Thanks for your advices 😉 Still cooking
