Don't know much about the boy but he seemed pretty unproductive at Villareal last season until he had a golden spell in the last month or so of the season and even then he accumulated nearly as many yellow and red cards as goals. He could be an early transfer out for a lot of people.

You are correct about the run of form according to wikipedia -

'In January 2023, Villarreal agreed a £22.5 million deal from AFC Bournemouth for the signing of Jackson but he failed his medical due to hamstring issues.
After returning to action in March, he scored nine goals within the months of April and May, which included braces against Celta de Vigo, Athletic Bilbao and Cádiz'
        --

From Bournemouth wanting to sign him then Chelsea is a big jump. But I think Jackson is worth the risk those fixtures from gw3-gw5 on are worth the risk - Luton, Forest (H), Bournemouth (A)

Plus can you see Liverpool and West Ham keeping clean sheets in the first two games?

That is disgusting, to advertise you pay same price as when you started, but by the way, we will charge you full price and you have to email us to refund the difference, reeks of desperation and they are obviously hoping people can't be bothered!!

Auto-renewals are scummy. Amazon do the same.

If someone wants to renew, they will. The only benefit of auto-renewals is catching out those that don't want to.

It would be different if there were any meaningful investment in the site/community experience, but there doesn't seem to have been for ages:

                    - Tables are not optimised and take an *age* to load
                    - There is no good reason why FFS couldn't have made a working web-based version of a plan ahead transfer tracker long before now, as plenty of other sites and individuals have been able to do
                    - Members have been ditched when it comes to engagement in the Scoutcast in favour of people who attend the live sessions (remember when questions for the SC were asked in the chat, now we are the forgotten poor relations)
                    - Prizes for competitions are stingy

I have no idea how much the site makes. Maybe they need to do (or not do) all this stuff to keep the site going. But if that's the case, with the wealth of free content that people take the time to put together and promote on social media, even this business model won't be sustainable in the future.

They tend to benefit from peeps not bothered about auto-renewal much like car insurance/broadband/mobile contracts etc. It's cynical exploitation of customer apathy. I challenge every renewal quote to talk them down. Amazing how many companies backdown if you have the balls to go up against them. Most recent success was against Churchill wanting to raise my car insurance by £85 (40%). Ended up with same premium as previous year. Use claws peeps! & don't accept auto-renewal.

                  Hi,

Just to clear up a few points on the above.

For some members, their payment failed in 2022, however, due to a bug these members retained access throughout the 2022 season (for free but through no fault of their own).

As a result, their membership has now expired so, if one wants to retain access, they have to sign-up again at full price. Once they have done so, they are entitled to a partial refund and a reset of their renewal price to their original rate. This promise has been fulfilled for dozens of members.

We haven't 'charged' the full price to anyone, any affected member has actively signed up with full knowledge that they will receive a refund.

Is there the option for those whose membership was cancelled through no fault of their own to sign up again based on the previous prices?

It's good you gave them a free year's worth of access, but the value of this free year will eventually be counteracted by a few years of having to pay a higher annual fee.

                      Hi,

Any affected member needs to sign-up at the current price. They will then receive a partial refund (for example: if old old price = £17.50 / current price £35.88 = immediate refund of £18.38). Their future renewal price will be reset to £17.50.

They will never have to pay a higher annual fee beyond the initial purchase (that they are then partially refunded).

Fair comment & clarification. Personally I got seduced into signing up for membership to FFS a few years ago when after 1 good season I thought it would improve my chances. Got no benefit & cancelled. Proliferation of gambling promotion does not entice me back even though I'm excluded from the majority of articles on this site. FFS is pricing itself out of the Fantasy game.

Hi Tom. This happened to me prior - I've been a member here a few years, but last year had to re-sign up to the £29.88 fee (with no known refund) - owning to a big similar to what you've described. Didn't kick a massive fuss as got the remained of the season free as you've described.

Would be you able to check the memberships across this account over the years to see if the amount I'm due to renew at shortly should actually be lower due to signing up a few years back?

Unless you go for Salah you may as well go for him. You can shift him to any other defender if it doesn’t pay off but you’ll struggle to bring him in if he flies.

I put him in the same bracket as the Arsenal and Man U mids. 8.0-9.0 of your budget on a top notch player. Typical team structure means you can get 3/4 of those players and they're all good options. If you have Salah you can only get 1/2 of them.

Any concern that James and Chillwell have yet to start in the same team? Something i am monitoring over the rest of pre season. Possibly Poch will only have one of them in at a time as they both like to bomb on, maybe leaving them too open at the back? May change if they get Caicedo perhaps.

      In defence lots of options.

I've stuck my 4.5 slot away as the third non playing attacker to stack the midfield and with cheaper defenders as cover.

Don't think there's anything obvious in midfield, Tanguy Ndombélé might get a look in at Spurs but i haven't looked at him recently.

Mitoma has great fixtures for GW1-3 then runs into difficulty. Mbeumo has a decent run for longer. I think I'd switch from Mit to Mbeu. In fact, I've decided to go with neither.

Spurs will struggle to keep a clean sheet unless they shore up their CB positions. He's a decent option if they improve on those other positions, but otherwise I'd steer clear.

Note - it is not because of high ownership that players drop in price. It is based on the percentage of sales out relative to their total ownership. I got caught on this one year with a really low owned player. Was injured/lost form or whatever price dropped like a stone.

Probably not. Levy was unmovable until this week. And how many strikers are of his quality in the game? Very few and zero who'd join a midtable club.
Seems to me Richarlison has to be the #10 and transfer money will be invested in various weal points in the squad.

Fair point similar to how the Bale money was used for a rebuild years ago etc
I always liked Richarlison as a player though constant work rate etc. Everton must be sorry they sold him now that left with the constant injury doubt DCL. They sold the wrong striker!

From gw3 to gw12 there are only three non 'easy' fixtures according to the ticker. If Richarlison was a striker in FPL he would be straight in my team gw3. But there is just too many midfield options I would rate higher FPL wise.

Yeah, this is important. When both start will one play high and the other tuck in? James has played that hybrid RCB/RFB role - is that what Poch has in mind? We need to see.

The reason for this is as much due to circumstance as it was due to minute sharing & being sensible about formations.

Reece joined up late so to begin with we only really has Chilwell/Cucurella/Gusto as the 1st/2nd choice for the fullback spots.

Gusto is new to the squad this season & Cucurella is... Cucurella.

Probably would have been serviceable for the likes of Wrexham (may played together 2nd half I think) but we really should be playing one of Chilwell/James if we're using the counterparts backup. Ideally Chilwell & James though.

James still needs a few more mins in the tank as he hasn't played properly for months.

But don't expect Chilwell's role to change much when James plays anyway.

Should hopefully see Chillwell & James play at least a half or so together soon. Although Gusto has looked really positive so that certainly lessens the burden on James 🙂

It's worth noting Man City play against Sevilla between GW1 & GW2, three days before their match vs Newcastle.
The match is in Greece, which is currently experiencing very hot weather. Man City may prioritise their Super Cup match, given that it is a trophy not in their cabinet. It may even go to extra-time, something Sevilla have done on numerous occasions in recent years. Therefore, key players may be rested/taken off early.
    Just a thought.

      UEFA out Fifa'ing FIFA?

Suspect it's fine and Man City are used to flying Wednesday night and playing within 3 days, if anything tho it could help Newcastle out but probably doesn't impact on the Burnley match in anyway.

It's a good point (don't know why all the comments above are banging on about Haaland, who you never mentioned. Obviously, this relates more to the other, more rotatable, members of the City squad).

Similarly, there seems to be a clamour for a Villa defender in gw 2/3 but they start Conference league then so it goes Everton, CFL, Burnley, CFL with no more than 4 days between fixtures. So I might look elsewhere for my 4.5 defender.

      A) looks much safer Watkins seems to be on preseason form. Odegaard a definite starter.

Jesus would drive you to to drink - works really hard fluffs chances gets yellows - not a great combination for FPL. I only have him because of fixtures and there is not many other options that stand out - I already have Jackson.

Maddison his fixtures only look good from gw3 on plenty of time for him to auction for the role

Foden - I have him myself only because with Mahrez sold and KDB a doubt/fitness he should at least start the first few.

Gold, invest in gold. The Indian marriage market ensures gold is always going up.

Create an email and say you are a wealthy Banana plantation owner with 2m in the bank - to donate the money a cover charge must be paid to the bank.

      --
Or alternatively you could use the 2m to get Rashford instead of Grealish and bank the .5 or maybe an Arsenal midfielder of your choice.
      --
Alternatively you could keep the money and jump on more Chelsea players gw3 - or Spurs players gw3
